The final version is better because of EVE. In every scene previously, except for the dance in space, she was mean to WALL•E and only cared for her main mission to get the plant to the Axiom WALL•E was kinda a creep to her on Earth but that was because he was alone all his life and didn't have interaction with anyone. When EVE looked through her memory on the Axiom she realised WALL•E is the kind lost soul looking for a connection with someone but had a hard time showing it due to being socially awkward. We already knew WALL•E would do anything for EVE. Even take damage to the point of robot-death at that point but we didn't know about if EVE could do it. EVE really needed a scene to show she cares for WALL•E and not only the mission. This scene does that. In a romance film. Both romantic leads have to not be in a toxic relationship and not feel one-sided with cemistry from both the leads. Up to that point it kinda just felt like WALL•E just simping and EVE being dangerous & not really caring about him so their relationship could've become toxic but this scene shown that EVE can have a softer & more gentler side. She can care and not be dangerous to her love. While WALL•E goes from being a silly simp to taking things more seriously and got going with EVE's mission to save humanity. Only thing missing from the final film now is WALL•E interacting with the WALL•As. That was adorable how one of the WALL•As patted on WALL•E's head.

This is incredibly well thought out and likely accurate. However I’d sum it up, as the change being needed to actually have a purpose for the final act. Wall•E being to outdated for the axiom to repair creates a means that in order for him to be repaired the Must return to earth. Otherwise the movie could basically end right their, Eve abandoning her directive to stay with Wall•E in the trash heap. They literally would have a reason to leave, and thus no reason for Movies epic finally.
@modmaker7617

@@sycho-tech5104 Interesting. Though I think Eve's arc is kinda more important because the creators only wanted to make a robot romance movie and everything else was filled in later to make sense of setting so I like the writers prioritised Eve's arc with this change over actually giving a reason for WALL•E to be repaired on Earth. Though WALL•E breaks in the final race to put the plant in the Axiom chamber thing to return home so WALL•E was gonna break no matter what. Even if this change didn't happen.
I love how the big guys just watch WALL-E compact a tiny cube of trash and just give him a parents’ pat. “Well aren’t you just a cute one!”

As sweet as the original version is, I'm really glad Pixar decided to go with the final version of this scene instead. Not that I liked seeing WALL-E get electrocuted, but Iove how that scene added a level of depth to EVE's character that hadn't been shown in the rest of the movie. I love the final version of this scene because it not only makes everything more tense; from the Wall-A's introduction, to the airlock, to the general stakes leading up to the finale. (I mean, Wall-E's _dying,_ so I'd say the stakes are pretty high!) But it also give EVE a chance to shine, finally breaking from her Directive entirely to focus her care on Wall-E. It's really sweet and it makes the story feel way more complete, overall. Though, I can admit. The Wall-A patting their baby version on the head, causing Wall-E to sink down into the trash, or Wall-E's stunned "woah" at seeing the airlock is _immensely_ charming, and that can never be replaced.

I honestly am glad they went with the final version. It works better because honestly by this point we already know how Wall-E cares for EvE him doing yet another good thing for her would just feel repetitive and predictable. The final version shows how much EvE had grown and developed as a character now realizing how much she cares for Wall-E and finding more to care for than just her directive. It also gives more urgency for Wall-E when he is crushed and makes you really want him to be fixed when they get back to earth. While it would have been nice to see those go at Wall-As be all like, “aww it’s a little us I want to adopt him,” the final ending overall is better for the story.

It's interesting how the deleted scene highlighted Wall-E's strength, agility, and his laser more so than the finished movie did. Wall-E is surprisingly resilient. Its probably a combination of him being built better (A cushy air conditioned Axiom versus earth and its constant dust storms), and the fact he had to constantly replace himself, he probably learned ways to survive better. Like his little cube tuck and roll he did in the deleted scene on the way to Eve. It makes me wonder how many other Wall-Es were still functioning. He couldnt be the last.

That’s the thing I wished they showed more is that WAL-E can show of his heroic side, which is often undermined whenever he gets hurt or needs to be saved by EVE who up into this point is more recognizable than he is. WALL-E at this point needs to show that he isn’t some comic relief goofball who acts shyly around the girl of his dreams but that he can not run away from danger and put his limits aside.
A cool detail is that, a lot of those animated movies between 2000 and 2010 had ur trailers different from the final versions, but when they did got an game adaptation, they did follow what the trailer did show, for example Wall E itself, another example is Flushed Away, as I remember, in the trailer the main character had two butlers, but in the final version they don't exist, but in the game they are there.

I was waiting for a comment about the games.
both version have a really established emotional side but what it splits both scenes is the weight of the situation, in the removed scene the conflict on the scene is basically overcome in the same and also is less enfatic in the drama placing some humor in the suspense scene making it look less impacting. in the original also switching places and removed the humor in the suspense moment making eve fixing wall.e and failing, not only makes the suspense deeper, it keeps the severity of the scene and a constant suspense for the spectators in the fact that wall.e it is still in danger and also a redemption for eve after watching his memory video. and (in m opinion) some facts in the deleted didnt fit well, wall,e having acknowledge of how to fix eve, being a robot model hundreds of years advanced over him, and wall.e standing against the suction of the hatch open
I can definitely see what they were going for in the original, but the final version is so much better for a variety of reasons. 1. From a logical standpoint, it simply makes more sense that given how old Wall-E is that he'd be the broken one while EVE is fine, as opposed to the other way around. 2. The way they handled Wall-E's injury, seeing him hobble around on his barely working wheels and clearly having a difficult time making even the smallest movements, creates a much bigger emotional impact, as opposed to the original version where EVE just sorta laid there until Wall-E fixed her and then it was like nothing had happened at all. Especially since Wall-E remains injured for the remainder of the film, and when he does get fixed, he has amnesia. 3. It creates a parallel in the dynamic up to that point, an important one too. Up to that point, all Wall-E cared about was getting with EVE, while EVE didn't really care about him and just wanted to do her job. But here, it's the opposite. Wall-E is begging EVE to take the plant and fulfill her directive, seeing it as being more important than himself (which is further amplified by him putting himself at risk to keep the platform up later on). EVE, on the other hand, has finally learned to exist beyond her programming, and goes directly against it in order to try and help Wall-E. And I think this parallel is important as it highlights how much the two have changed. With the original scene, the characters do the same thing they've been doing all throughout, which makes later scenes feel not as earned. It's harder to believe. You've gotta commend Pixar for what they did here. THe original scene was perfectly fine. Nobody would have complained if that was the one in the final cut. But they didn't let it just be "good enough", they changed it to create what is, in my opinion, one of the best scenes in the entire movie. Give the corporate side of Disney all the shit, they deserve it, but you can tell the movies themselves are made by artists. Also, I like how they carried over Wall-E and M-O's little handshake, that was great.

it's cool how they edited the two clips so it seems they both happen at the same time in the two clips.
WALL-E is one of those movies that honestly gets better as you get older because then you can truly appreciate the things you missed when you watched it earlier, especially the themes, ambition, authenticity, character bonding, and visual storytelling. Not only do I think it’s one of the greatest animated movies (my personal favorite animated movie), but also one of the greatest movies period!
The final scene they used is certainly the better pick thematically, but seeing the other one is also really neat to see; it's like a peak at an alternate reality.
I absolutely love the WALL-As interacting with WALL-E in the cut scene.
As cute as the prototype’s direction was going, the final’s has incredible story cohesion. The absolute brilliance of WALL-E signaling to EVE that the directive bringing them back to earth is how WALL-E could be repaired is something I’m still geeking out about 14 years later
Both scenes are pretty good, the regular scene for the movie, and the deleted scene, it seems pretty good, but at least in the PS2 they added the deleted scene in the game, but with differences. And in the movie they stick with the regular scene, and not the deleted one.
@El_Omar2203

It wasn't much of the game adding the deleted scene but rather the deleted scene stayed in the movie for so long that once it was changed it was too late for the game to also make the change. This is very common with movie videogames and why sometimes plot beats occur differently.

I like elements of the deleted scene, but having Wall-E be the one who is more focused on the directive and being the one damaged is a MASSIVE narrative improvement. I do wish the Wall-A’s got that little bit of character development in the final though. But all in all it goes to show how much of a masterpiece this movie is.
The final version makes more sense. The deleted version seems to convey that this is how Eve accepts Wall-E (or falls for him). IMO
I love how the when wall-E showed the bigger Wall-Es his trash cube they where like: "Aww that's adorable." and proceeded to pat him on the head.
One of my favourite parts about the final version is how Eve is trying to help Wall E, and you can tell she cares about him (instead of more one sided affection on his part). And the fact that the stakes are higher to get to earth quickly to fix him.
I love how in the alternative, the Wall-A's see Wall-E as a cute and smaller version of them.
A rare case of when the final result is better. We saw the whole movie how Wall-E cared and did everything for Eve, now we saw Eve demonstrating that she cares for Wall-E and learnee that she does not need to do things only with her eyes set on her directive, just like Wall-E. Also, having Wall-E, the main character, so badly injured causes more emotion on the people watching... So we have both robots showing afection, Eve learning about emotions and having fun other than completing her directive and Wall-E learning about the importance of her objective (once he needs to return to Earth to be repaired), a balance between them. Such a nice movie, one of my favourites!
You can really tell the difference.
I still believe the final version is way better but I love the interaction between WALL-E and the bigger WALL-Es. It really humanizes my favorite characters.
The final version captures the whole feeling of the movie better if you ask me. Having EVE, a robot who only cared about her one and only purpose, showing concern and trying to help Wall-E *instead* of Wall-E, whose already been known to have feelings for EVE from the start is a better choice. Beautiful movie.

It’s a little poetic, seeing how the deleted scene was instead put to the video game’s story plot
While both versions are interesting showing their different problem solving, I’m glad they went with Eve saving Wall-E It makes sense as Wall-E has been helping Eve prior, he protected her from a sand storm, he is the reason she got back to the Axiom at all and got her the plant, now it’s her turn to save him, needing to fix him and keep him alive, and it’s character development, previously Eve was more direct and stubborn and more focused on her own directive of saving earth, but now she’s willing to throw it aside just to save him, but Wall-E too is now determined to make sure her mission is complete, it’s quite great as Eve now is more caring and compassionate for others while Wall-E understands the importance of her task

I love how they treat him with a pat on a head like parent for doing good job
It's quite surprising to see how close to final production they got with this scene before they decided to change a major part of the story.
In conclusion/summary: the final version is better because has Eva showing appreciation for WALL•E for like technically first time, but have seen WALL•As doing pat to WALL•E would have also been adorable, so that's is the only missing part in the final version

Honestly I do prefer the Eve version but. I will forever morn the loss of the scene of Wall-E interacting with the Wall-A. So cute.
Not sure if anybody’s mentioned this yet, but in the Wall-E videogame, the early version of the movie (Eve being hurt, Wall-E repairs her) plays out. And it plays that way because the movie itself got delayed and pushed back so they could go back and rewrite this whole scene, but the videogame and other merchandise had a solid release window and couldn’t be delayed. The Wall-As awwing and patting Wall-E on the head was something I never knew I needed to see, it’s just so adorable and I really wish they kept that bit in the final. But overall, as well as others have put it, the final was great.
The final version explained our characters better. That’s why I like it.
It's so cute and sweet seeing how both of them would put themselves on danger for the other, and then tending and taking care when damaged
I think if they switched the scenes the movie wouldn't be as heart felt or have a feeling of needing to return to earth. It would have made people wonder why go back to earth. The final product was the absolute best because it makes you want them to return and makes you want eva to save wally at all costs making the climax even more spectacular when he almost died this is what made wall-e wall-e
I don't know what it is about Wall-E, But it's just so charming and it teaches a valuable lesson about Pollution on earth. By far my FAVORITE Pixar movie
The deleted version is better because of WALL-E Wall-e is shown to be a nice and caring robot that introduces himself to make new friends, this shows his real personality due to his loneliness on earth, Wall-e interaction with the wall-a’s were nice as-well, but the deleted version make so much more since because why would Pixar have to almost kill the main characters in movies, wall-e is also every kind to others and very caring about eve when she shuts down with the plant, wall-e is shown mid intelligence in personality, but high iq in technology due to his replacing his parts, and him fixing eve adds to that statement, the deleted scene shows that about wall-e and shows him more about himself. This scene also shows that eve cares about wall-e for calling his help.
@TheSonicBros1

They changed it because Wall-E was already shown being nice to everyone for the entire movie but there wasn't many scenes where other people were being nice to Wall-E, in the old version we're not learning anything we didn't already know about the characters. In the changed version it allows Eve to reveal how much she cares about Wall-E by rejecting her directive which is what she was focused on the entire movie.
Oh remember knowing that the reason why Pixar and Disney when with the final version was because of WALL•E and EVE. WALL•E is a nice robot but fragile, while EVE is determined to finish her mission and not fragile. Seeing WALL•E rescuing EVE in the deleted scene was nice because it showed how much he cared for EVE. But in the final version, EVE was the one rescuing WALL•E and realized that there was more than just completing a mission and going beyond her coding. It was very nice that they kept the final version. And the reason why WALL•E being injured was so dramatic, scary and sad 😞 s because WALL•E just wanted to have love and we know that he could break easily. So after when he’s repaired and revived, we feel so happy because he gave us a message that we will never forget: Live your own life. Don’t just go on living with only one objective and start by making goals and enjoying life.

Wall-E saving Eve didn’t just show us how much he cares for her, but how he grows into a brave, loyal and daring boy he is.
I think both versions are actually really good, I could go for either-or.
its good to mention that the game released based on WALL-E that was on the ps2/psp goes off of this old deleted scene, with there being a whole level based on getting parts to repair EVE
0:14 I heard "Hah, boiiiiii". Something is wrong with me...
Everyone talking about Eve, Wall-A's and all, but everyone do be overlooking the fact that they turned Mo from being a mere doorstep to the FREAKING MVP!!!
Fun fact: this deleted scene is actually the storyline for the pc/ps2 game
I liked the final version better. It was more impactful, brought higher stakes to the film, and important to show Eve’s character development.

You know WALL-E has character development too, right?
The WALL-As just pat him on the head like WALL-E is the little brother of the group. Literally, “when you try to impress your elder family by doing their thing but smaller”
I like how you can see they added MO's flashing red light later on.
Fun fact for anyone who played the PS2 version of WALL·E they actually use the delated scene part for this stage. For context from what I can recall(I may be wrong it’s been years sense I played that game I was 6 maybe when I played it) WALL-E ends up alright but Eva requires repairs and so WALL-E has to platform and use an umbrella while playing his music to find parts for her. Yes his music was a mechanic and at first seemed useless but once you found the other robots they actually follow him as he Plays it and are essential for solving puzzles. Also I believe M-O could kill you though it’s very unlikely as he did very little damage as was mostly there to annoy you
I like the final more because it tricks the audience to think Wall-Es plot armor had expired
And I kept thinking why in the psp version of the game Wall-e we are in this dump, it is Eva who is rescued from a heap of garbage. Now everything is crystal clear
it would be nice and cute to see in the final version the Wall-A and the MO "helping" Wall-E
The final version had a lot more story impact, but I do still love the original idea
I like much better the final version of this scene, but the other one when Eva was injured and Wall-E help her, that was pretty amazing and adorable moment too 🙂🤝🏻
I honestly see why they went with the final version, heck... Even the Wall-As had a bigger impact than the original. In the original, they just seemed to be there cause why not make a giant sized Wall-E; but in the new version they were a lot more intimidating, especially since they didn't give any attention to EVE and continued doin their thing until the repair scene (it WAS fun seeing em interact with Wall-E)
This has to be one of the most complete deleted scene I have ever seen

If you think that's complete, check out the Sleep Swimming scene from Finding Dory
Both of them side by side feel like alternate endings to a video game were one character survives and they have to save the other character getting near to death.
Wall-A giving Wall-E a head pat was cute, but besides that I'm definitely glad they went with the version they did
I do like how the unfinished gave the WALL-As some character, like when they see WALL-E's smaller cube. It's cute how they have no eyes but still make that "Aw, look at this little guy" expression.
I like the final version. It's a trade off between the bigger compactors acknowledging Wall-E as a similar droid, and then caring for the little ones giving them light, to the final scene where Wall-E's memory got a temporary reset. Also Eve being the one fixing Wall-E comes full circle to when Wall-E was the gizmo one earlier in the movie
Love how the two are noticeably different. Nowadays, they tend to do slight changes. But the role being different is something unexpected.
Honestly the final version is better, it just made more sense. Though it's kinda of a bummer we never got to see the bigger Wall-E's acknowledging Wall-E, it would've been nice
