Located at the heart of Croatian mountainous region of Gorski Kotar, Delnice is the highest town in Croatia and the administrative center of Gorski Kotar. This typical mountainous town is surrounded by unspoiled nature - including Risnjak National Park, several forest parks and River Kupa valley which is home to 500 different butterflies species and is thusly called The Valley of Butterflies. Although an interesting vacation destination all year long which provides wonderful outdoors activities such as cycling, hiking, mountain climbing, camping, rafting, fishing, hunting and mushroom foraging, Delnice is at its tourist peak during its cold and snow-rich winters which offer a long skiing season. In this video, filmed in springtime, you can see people already preparing for the next winter with lots of wooden logs stacked by the houses, as Delnice also has a long tradition in lumber industry and forestry - completely sustainable, of course, as they have been doing in a traditional manner for hundreds of years.
