Walking in Virginia City, Montana - Winter Treadmill Walking Tour Guide - Montana 4k Virtual Walk
#Montana #walkingtour #citywalks #virtualwalk #treadmillworkout #treadmillscenery #virtualtreadmill
Today we take you on a virtual walk for treadmill (or other exercise machines or just for fun) around historic Virginia City, Montana. The temps are cold but the sunshine is warm and there's no wind! It's a Sunday in winter so the town is as quiet as a church mouse leaving it almost entirely to us to explore the snowy streets. This old mining boom town is also the county seat of Madison County Montana. But, what most people come for is the historic buildings, restaurants, narrow gauge railroad, gift shops, and Vigilante theater.
It's getting to be a challenge to find new local virtual walks for treadmill and as the Covid situation slows back down, I'm hoping to make a road trip soon. The nature virtual walking trails for treadmill are fun to make and I love sharing the treadmill trails and walking scenery for treadmill but the channel is called City Walks so I figure I'd better visit some cities. We don't have too many of those in Montana. Treadmill workout scenery videos make great exercise routines with scenic walking videos for treadmill.
Please feel free to share your own experiences in the comments below or make any corrections to my narration.

Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgini...
Virginia City is a town in and the county seat of Madison County, Montana, United States. In 1961 the town and the surrounding area were designated a National Historic Landmark District, the Virginia City Historic District. The population was 190 at the 2010 census.
In May 1863, a group of prospectors were headed toward the Yellowstone River and instead came upon a party of the Crow tribe and was forced to return to Bannack. On May 26, 1863, Bill Fairweather and Henry Edgar discovered gold near Alder Creek. The prospectors could not keep the site a secret and were followed on their return to the gold bearing site. A mining district was set up in order to formulate rules about individual gold claims. On June 16, 1863 under the name of "Verina" the township was formed a mile south of the gold fields. The name was intended to honor Varina Howell Davis, the first and only First Lady of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. Verina, although in Union territory, was founded by men whose loyalties were thoroughly Confederate. Upon registration of the name, a Connecticut judge, G. G. Bissell, objected to their choice and recorded it as Virginia City.
The Montana Territory was organized out of the existing Idaho Territory by Act of Congress and signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln on May 26, 1864. Although Bannack was the first territorial capital, the territorial legislature moved the capital to Virginia City on February 7, 1865. It remained the capital until April 19, 1875 when it moved to Helena, Montana
In the 1940s, Charles and Sue Bovey began buying the town, putting much needed maintenance into failing structures. The ghost town of Virginia City began to be restored for tourism in the 1950s. Most of the city is now owned by the state government and is a National Historic Landmark operated as an open-air museum. Of the nearly three hundred structures in town, almost half were built prior to 1900. Buildings in their original condition with Old West period displays and information plaques stand next to presently active restaurants, gift shops, and other businesses.
The Historic District of Virginia City and Nevada City is currently operated by the Montana Heritage Commission. The Commission operates gold panning, the Nevada City Music Hall and Museum, and the Alder Gulch Railroad.

Stunning nature H, extremely beautiful nature walk as usual. I often marvel at the wooden houses but also the brick library and the house a little earlier (also half bricks?) were really beautiful. Absolutely loved the barber shop and the blacksmith (am i correct?) shop later. Absolutely beautiful walk.

I'm new to your channel but am really enjoying it. I'm in the UK (in lockdown/shielding) - I don't have a treadmill but am just doing some 'on the spot walking' exercises and it's brilliant to be able to have a virtual tour of somewhere interesting/beautiful at the same time. Thanks so much, it's really appreciated

Rally great walk Henry, Probably one of your best !!Thank you. Beautiful light. Personally I always prefer your walks around the small towns, and this place looks really special. Agree totally with your comment that we indulge ourselves in too much materialism nowadays. It doesn't result in true happiness. A good walk like this on a beautiful day is really all it takes. Just a quick question. Is this the Virginia City that was featured in the Western series Bonanza from the 60/70's? Thanks again for braving the cold for us.
@CityWalks
3 жыл бұрын
No, that was in Virginia City, NV, I think. It was near Lake Tahoe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonanza
It is very similar with last video. Street is very gorgeous and I am just like walking in the western movie. 👍👍

Great walk and good job!. Cover St is pronounced with a long O. There is a substantial flock of turkeys that hang out around the Brewery and that barn so I'm surprised you didn't see them. The full time population in Virginia City is now 219 people. One is me! 2019-2020 I built a small 610 sq ft (500 main floor, with a loft) house somewhat off the main drag. I laughed when you talked about a workout walking those hills. I try to walk 3+ miles 3 or more times a week. I often walk down to Alder Creek in Ellington Park. It is all uphill home from there😀 I'm pretty used to the hills by now. No treadmill for me! The only places open in the winter are Ranks and the Pioneer Bar - maybe the Cafe next to the bar. Most of those storefronts are open during the summer months but many are museum displays. Those buildings by the Brewery are hotel/vacation rentals. Development is catching up even here but for the most part, they are vacation rentals.

Awesome. Thanks for the local knowledge. I don't think many places in Montana have escaped the increase in prices and people. Hang in there and keep on steppin' -H
Thank you very much for your hard work ! Your videos are great ! I would like to pay more attention to historical objects . If there is a sign with information about the monument, please , we want to see it. Show at least for a couple of seconds, who is interested in putting the video ina pause and calmly read. If possible 🤷

Does watching the entire ad rather than skipping the ad as soon as possible affect you in any way? Do you notify the local papers after a walk has been done so the residents are sure to see it? I enjoy walking with you.
@CityWalks
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Claire, yes, viewing the entire ad, or most of it improves my chances of getting a share of the revenue (usually a small percentage of a penny) but please just enjoy the vids. The rest will take care of itself. Thanks for thinking of me though. I haven't contacted newspapers but I'll often tag the local tourism agency in my instagram, FB, and twitter posts. Thanks again -H

You mentioned how people live in large houses in the U.S. Well, guess what? As a single senior, I live in a little house (built in 1935) ) on Little Road, and am surrounded by families whose last name is "Little."
@CityWalks
3 жыл бұрын
That's pretty funny. And yes, that was a generalization. Certainly the older houses in Anaconda were tiny as were many in Virginia City but I'd say most new builds are bigger than they were in the 1930s. Thanks for watching and commenting. -H
