WALKING IN SURREY | RUNNYMEDE: THE BIRTHPLACE OF MODERN DEMOCRACY AND THE MAGNA CARTA

I'm back in Surrey! It's been a while, last time was during Parts 1 to 5 of the North Downs Way. I was joined by the very lovely Candice for this 4 mile circular walk at Runnymede, the location of the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215, arguably the most important document of the Medieval Period and one the most important documents in history.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to my Gofundme page to help raise money to get my hard drive fixed and the data on it recovered so I can put out 6 of my latest videos, I really appreciate the support!

Anybody else notice that the Royal Oak notice @ 2.29 is incorrect? It says that Charles II was on the run from 'Royalists' after the battle of Worcester but obviously, since he was fighting to regain the throne at that time, his side were Royalists! It was Oliver Cromwell's Parliamentarian New Model Army who gave Charles II a drubbing at Worcester. xx SF

@@TOM_OUTDOORS Thank you! I'm newly subscribed to your channel and already a big fan. You have wonderfully engaging presentational style and the viewer really feels that they are sharing the experiences. (I find it funny that people like the BBC and other commercial TV companies spend fortunes to produce content that often isn't half as educational and entertaining....) You have a real talent! xx SF

What a great day out, really did enjoyed the history and thumbs-up for finding and hunting down the owner of the bag and paperwork. This video was so different from all the others Tom, that I had to pause again and again to take in all the history. Just loved it so much I now want to visit this place myself. Thank you.

Hey! Like that memorial and absolutely love how the text is done so that it reflects and you read it in the water - genius!!! Nice to see you both out and about and top marks for your job tracing the owner of the bag. I did laugh at the cider review - next time we talk remind me to update you on my purchase and thoughts as most are gone now!! ATB to you Tom and Candice, Hambo

Shame that cider scored so low... only 2 points from Candice: she definitely doesn’t take prisoners 🤣😉 Nice result on that backpack 👏

The provisions of Oxford are much more important in history than Magna Carta... Magna Carta was more to do with the rights of nobility and nothing to do with the rights of others, the Provisions of Oxford were much bigger in scale.
