Walking around Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao

Cristina and I did our usual walk around checking out local eateries and also the malls of CDO. On one stop at a very small local eatery I did not film because it was just us and the family that owned it - and was so small I was eating on a tiny table right beside kids doing home work. No photos - but memories of conversation that Cristina and I had with those folks we will treasure for a lifetime. Then - when we got to CDO's Boulevard we walked into something we had not experienced before. A new road built for cars, truck and motorcycles - but being used instead by walkers, runners, bike riders and rope skippers. The loudest sounds were laughter and bird song. What an unexpected pleasure! #joecristina #morefuninthephilippines #philippinetravel #balikbayan #filipinocanadian #philippines #cagayandeorocity

Would you ever rent a car and drive in the CDO area? The Bolivard is new I have heard.

Because whenever I am in Philippines we are visitors with a date to return home to Canada - I have no plans to ever drive here. I feel I am too old and set in my ways to learn a new way of driving. The Philippines way of driving and rules of the road are just so different from the Canadian way. I am content to be a passenger while here in Philippines. And we both have fun traveling in all the forms of Philippine transportation - like tricycles, motorela, habal habal, jeepney, kalesa, padyak, bangka, RoRo and also the intercity bus system - that we do not have in Canada like they exist in Philippines.
