Walk The Talk: Seven years after the first decision was taken to rebuild Mumbai's dingy and congested Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, the wait is finally over. The swanky new Terminal 2 that's been built by the GVK-led consortium on over 1400 acres of land using granite that can cover 27 football fields and at cost of Rs 12,500 crore is now operational.
Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, The Indian Express, talks to Dr GVK Reddy, Founder Chairman and Managing Director, GVK Group and GV Sanjay Reddy, Vice Chairman of GVK Power and Infrastructure Limited about the challenges they faced while constructing Terminal 2 and the inspiration behind making such a mega structure with art work from all over the country.

Dr.GVK Reddy, a great visionary & his entire team made this nation feel proud by presenting world class airport (swanky new terminal 2) at Mumbai. Appreciate their efforts and commitment for successfully delivering these kind of infrastructure wonders amid many hiccups, which leads the way for India's economic development.

Shekhar Gupta is the best example of negative journalism....he and his likes always try to look at negativities like slums, obstacles, hurdles, controversies etc..... While discussing every aspect of a project is perfectly alright, why get into darker areas that have been sorted out gracefully? One would take pride in the fact that CSIA T2 is today one of the best terminals globally & stands shoulder to shoulder with Changi, Incheon, Dubai etc.....Just admire the magnificent structure & give due credit to everyone who did their bit...right from the labourers who built it brik-by-brick to this awesome father-son duo who led the project...thats it..period...isnt that enough? Is it really necessary to discuss which statue caused issues, which govt departments werent ready to move??...... Rather we should glorify such projects and promote a positive picture that would encourage more conglomerates like GVK to invest in other lesser known towns in India.. Just one advise to SG & likes....grow up now at least & do a favor to the nation by some constructive journalism..enough of your BS..

I think Shamshabad's Rajiv Gandhi international Airport is one of the finest Airport of Asia and the maintenance is done superbly by GMR
Such unnecessary waste....gvk group is now debt ridden with npa's and bad debts....infrastructure is important but it should be minimal and functional rather than costly and extravagant...

Hard work pays you. Otherwise you have co-live with 'A Woman with a Gun' and slums forever.
Excellent airport, unfortunately the staff let it down in a very bad way. I was hounded by 2 baggage handlers and was asked for £50 in order to get my baggage through. I was with my wife and young children and was put through hell by these workers. Why is nothing done about this? Staff are so rude and constantly asking for money. Who can we report this to? In the end I had to give them £10 Because they were getting aggressive and threatening me. Good air poor but what a let down by poor customer care. What a shame.

Why should common man be proud of new terminal?How many times do middle class man in this country ever use airport?Few times in a decade or absolutely not. common man is ignored by our policy makers.What about Dadar station in peak hours?You cant even enter the train or perhaps you could because you are pushed by people behind you.Neutron stars would be less dense than mumbai trains.Completly modernising mumbai local trains is far more necessary...
