It's a strategy. Alan gave Ryan his sombrero after the match, which is a really kind and respectful gesture. Ryan has a lot of mutual respect for Alan, too. We can also see that they have no issues with shaking hands or giving dues in this match.

Ryan is such an inspirational story. From 2k subs and podcasts in the garage to the world stage of Armwrestling with John Brzenk in his corner and then proceeding to be a cornerman for Devon Larratt in a career defining match. If that isn't a success story i don't know what is. Congrats brother, you earned every bit of this!

Has Ryan Bowen become the protégé of John Brzenk? I have noticed they hang out a lot. He wasn't that good before, but you can see he has improved much. Even his posture on the table is reminiscent of John.

No, they're just good friends Ryan models himself on Devon Larratt's style but is bring coached by Todd Hutchings. Also he has many other connections in the pro community

This was the best match at 504 by a country mile. Amazing Debut by the Ausie, and I'm sure the rest of the competitors know there is a new guy in the division now.

This was my favorite match of the night. Bowen dominated and that’s what I was hoping for. Guerra was a good opponent and I loved how his shit talking totally missed. Bowen didn’t even sweat it. He just crushed. Keep it up Blue!
