I know, monsters and ghosts are pretty scary, but there's something REALLY disturbing about not being able to respond to someone. Especially when you're forced into conversation like the weird co-worker does to mc. It's like when someone is talking to you in a dream and you can't talk no matter how hard you try.

Let's take a second to recognize the reality of having multiple people grind their own work to a halt because they feel the need to all address something as utterly insignificant as some guy drinking coffee slowing down everyone's work productivity. Like you have security guys on the cameras, the IT guys spying on your computer, the dude in the next cubicle, the boss, all these people stopping themselves from doing something useful because you had coffee. This is literally too close to real life right now.

Especially the boss guy's spew about the "important" meetings. The amount of useless and pointless meetings that accomplish or make zero impact on businesses that take place is insane. Like hours of meetings where nothing productive actually takes place or they don't actually lead to anything productive.

I used to know someone who would either damage the phone, or the phone line every once in a while because of how often she would get bothered.. She was a good worker but a lot of people would try to get her to do their jobs. Felt bad for her.. ( Friend of mine from when I was a kid. So admittedly there was some bias :P ) Kinda shocked she never got caught when it comes to that stuff though.

As someone who used to work in an office with terrible coffee: 1) They use the cheapest brand available in the largest amounts. I'd like to say it's because they cut corners, but the coffee, pot and filters were provided by a work pool and shoestring budget rather then management. 2) The filters used aren't of the highest quality. lots of grounds and particles find their way into the pot 3) The machine itself is kinda terrible. no heat setting or anything, just pushes warm water onto ground beans with a heating plate and it's left to settle for a long time, likely burning 4) Most people don't use the right amount of coffee or water. bad ratios = bad coffee which is why i ended up taking over making the coffee. if i'm gonna be drinking swill all shift, might as well have it be of adequate quality. Ended up having to use 2 filters for each pot after figuring out the right ratio of water to coffee. Even then, I still used chocolate milk in it, and I normally drink my coffee black. Thankfully we didn't have fridge thieves stealing my coffee-only chokky milk.

Perhaps the hidden story is that you had a caffeine crash and you don't know it. As soon as you had your cup and the co worker starts talking to you you just fell asleep. The whole time your brain is subconsciously telling you to stop drinking coffee because it is affecting how you work.

I think what happened in the game is more realistic, like I’ve never fainted from drinking coffee, but I have fallen into the void repeatedly

props to the dev, that's a creative way to get out of animating the mouth

I want to get in and get out. Meanwhile, there's always some butter golem who bloody LOVES office politics, knowing more than everyone else, asserting his opinions and ideas, and never gets tired of dealing with customers and correcting you on how you're not dealing with them correctly. These obnoxious people oftentimes end up at the top, because as the company's policies descend into tyrannical levels of micro-management, all of the people of sound mind who you'd want to have as a boss set off for greener pastures. When they're gone, all the remain are people who deserve better but are too afraid of change, and ball-busting busy-bodies who get off on accruing and asserting their power beneath the ever-increasing pressure of "corporate's" grimy thumb. Most of us just want to do the work and get out without being harassed by these guys who had middle-management written on their foreheads the moment they walked into the job interview.

I feel like this game could actually be a metaphor for selective mutism or something but also it's literally just a game about drinking color changing office coffee until it breaks the space-time continuum

Defiantly drinking coffee is how Manly got the 'Badass' part of his name.

Manly got so buzzed he ascended to the 15th dead world. He's in a better place, where he can drink infinite coffee and it doesn't cause him to go into cardiac arrest, like it did in reality. He didn't travel dimensions, he just keeled over on his desk, and experienced a temporary purgatory before ascending. RIP in trash.

Caffeine is actually a literal drug. Harmless but when drinking too much caffeinated beverages is bad for your health ofc anything too much even healthy stuff can be bad.

Can confirm that is how I type while I'm working.

I used to drink coffee every day, but I kept flying into the void every time it happened, so I finally made the switch to matcha. Now all I hear everyday is the koto playing over the sounds of samurai fighting and dying in the background. It's considerably more relaxing, but are there any caffeinated drinks without these weird side effects?

Energy drinks. Sure it gives you the power of flash but it’s a lot better than occupying your sight and hearing with hallucinations

Luckily for me my office has a Keurig. We use the single use pods or even use the filter that's included w the machine. Only problem is that people will use your coffee. Either way it's a perfect cup of joe every time.

An office worker wouldn’t stop drinking his coffee. This is how he entered the void.

when I'm working it's usually in an office. 1L official brand thermos filled with 500ml of Folgers Mountain Roast (very cost-efficient) 500ml of milk, and some sugar. would stay hot all day. The only times I ever got in trouble was when some drama queen would say there was booze in there. I'd provide whatever counter-evidence I needed to and their next promotion would go bye-bye. All hail office coffee!

That typing technique is definitely next level. Shout out to Mavis Beacon! I had the original one when she was a cartoon little girl with pigtails.

I'd consider this more of a short comedy game more than horror, which is just fine by me. The artstyle and dialogue is super funny, and your commentary makes it even better. Neat little game!
