There's something really comical about a fly not knowing that venus flytraps and frogs are both predators of flies. It's such an amusing dramatic irony because in most other settings with predators and prey, the prey are usually aware who their predators are

the smells and liquid secreted by flytraps lure them in. Applying that logic to furry creatures those flies are probably already mentally compromised upon entering the place, luring them into a false calm and sense of security. The scents wafting from the bakery alone likely enough to drug them even before they're eating the sweets. Under normal circumstances the flies may have known to be wary of frogs but by using flytrap nectar in their baking the frogs are essentially weaponizing a cognitohazard to their advantage. It's extremely clever imo.

I love how Manly's consistent response to the fly's shock and horror is just, "They're _frogs."_

Cute but "not" secretly a horror game "but definitely" a horror game is my favorite horror videogame genera.

1:50 I agree, Sweeney Todd kinda started or at least, popularized the whole "cannibalistic restaurant" trope. The kawaii cutesy aesthetics were integrated into the horror game formula to give you a greater shock as the story takes a darker turn.

I honestly missed Manly's long gameplay. I really loved Manly's way of reading the dialogue, it feels like a really soothing storyteller. Wish there were new horror titles that require multiple playthroughs like Omori, needy streamer overdose, or even some older ones like Purgatory.

I think the creators just like cafes. I do too. Artists shouldn't be exempted from doing something just cause others do it. Also, I have seen that many cafe horror. Just maybe this, Bonnie, and Sweeney Todd. And I mean horror or the story relating to the cafe. Not just ones that take place a bit in a cafe that could've taken place anywhere else. Cafes can serve anything. Including foods with meat. People getting turned into insulation fiber makes less sense that's why people may not use that idea. There are stories of people getting turned into dolls.

I like the fact that the protagonist calls an ambulance. It still feels off that the butcher frog didn't have any weapon with him, and how he kinda accepts the ambulance, but it's a gamejam game, so I see no issue with that.

Lol, what if this is a spiritual successor to that one frog horror game Manly played a while ago, the one where invasive, mutant jellyfishes possess frogs? This could be like if the frogs became twisted and jaded after that ordeal

surprised there's "no flys to honey" joke , instead of nectar. also, flys will also eat anything. dead bodies, poop, as well as sweats.

I honestly think this game could be expanded a little to include more on the other frogs in the café. The fly says it themself--these frogs are carnivores, they *have* to eat meat or they'll starve. It's easy to make the carnivorous animals evil, but quite frankly it's more interesting if they're more nuanced. What it's like, living in a world where just surviving makes you a murderer? What else can you do? What do these waiters feel, knowing the food they're eating used to be someone they were laughing with hours ago? One fly says they come here *every day*, the frogs are bound to get a little attached to them. Do they feel sad, knowing they'll never see their regular again? Or is it more a twisted joy, making their favorite little customer part of their meal? Zootopia and Beastars are excellent examples of a more nuanced take on predator-prey dynamics in sapient animals, but I would also like to see that sort of story in this kind of setting, too. There's eating people who are strangers to you, and then there's eating people who you've formed a real bond with. There's having an uncontrollable urge to eat meat...and then there's deliberately setting up a trap to harvest your customers.

as much as i like this trope, it feels like it’s kinda being beat to death without adding much of anything unique to spice it up. there’s only so many times you can have a cutesy cafe that kills and serves people lol

I don't think I've ever commented on your channel before so I'll just leave this lol Thank you so much. Your videos calmed me down from my stress after a rough day at school. I rarely care or worry when it comes to academics but I failed my math quiz today (not exactly failed my math teacher just had high standards and I almost made it into the passing score) and I got dumped with even more work as consequence for failing the test lol. I love how relaxing your gameplays are even if they were horror or gore but maybe it's because of your voice.

Why is it that every door locks from the outside in a horror game? Like no door that ever existed outside a jail cell?
