If I were you I’d add another 3/4” board down each corner, it would look neater & it would hide the bigger holes at the bottom of your live edge siding & it would make an easier and nicer caulking job. JMO! You guys are busy bees!

On the boards that are hard, and stiff, Drill a hole and run a screw in it to barely draw it down. Keep wetting it, and tighten the screws a little at a time, until you can draw it all the way down. It takes more time, but it'll really reduce the cracking.

I suggest using spring-style clothespins to hang your wet laundry. Hanging from the edge will mean it is always in a single layer. It will dry faster and not have folded crease across each item.

Cloudy days you probably need some more power with more installed equipment, the EcoWorthy stand can with some adjustment be connected via for example a small combinerbox with MC4’s in, and 2 wires out to EPEver / inverter. Powerstation can be charged and used when there is enough light, with small combinerbox more charging can be achieved by pairing to the booth batteries. Fixed arrangement provides safer charging. Easy to switch between Powerstation and main batteries.

Paint the whole siding on the house with Australian timber oil ! It’ll preserve it for many years to come, it also water proofs it, makes it bug & termite resistant as well as gives it oiled natural tan color. U shouldn’t have to do put Australian Timber Oil on it again with a light coat until maybe 10 years. Then it should be good until we’re all dead and gone. If your not 100% sure just buy a small metal container of the Australian Timber oil and trial run it on a piece of scrap siding and then decide if you want to invest in a 5 gallon jug of it. U can paint it on with a paint brush but I would suggest pressure washing it first let it dry then applying the Timber oil to the siding. There’s lots of people on KZread using it on their exteriors of their cabins such a Shawn James 1 on: my self reliance who treated his logs with Australian Timber Oil , Also Richard on Smoky Mountain Outpost on his new log workshop project. Just as a couple of examples but I’ve seen many others using it and they swear by it. Probably the biggest example is Paul whole builds old fashioned dovetail joint log cabins at the bearded carpenter, he’s a big advocate for Australian Timber oil & Linseed Oil for preservation of wood from rot weather and destructive bugs. Something to really consider! 😉 EDIT: If you used Australian Timber Oil or Linseed Oil either one to preserve & protect it, then you’d never have to paint it and it’ll always hold that natural wood look.

@@OffgridwithJayandJen just so you understand me the Australian Timber Oil & Linseed Oil Both are not a oil based paint. They’re both A Oil that’s made to treat wood. Either one will be fine on your siding but if it was me I’d use the Australian Timber Oil. But the linseed oil will also work. If I was you I would research both on the internet for your peace of mind. Then I’d get me a small bottle of Australian Timber Oil or Linseed Oil because they’re both expensive just like high quality paint is nowadays. Then I’d take a board same as your siding and paint them with the oil or each of the oils and lay them both out in the sun a couple days & see which one you like the best. From the cabins I’ve seen the logs painted with the Australian Timber Oil was my favorite look after the wood was treated in it with a paint brush.

one thing you can do to make those corners look better, double them up after you double tap all the siding, the add another layer of the corner boards. Just lay one up there un nailed and see of you like the look or not. Honestly you should pressure wash that wood and have something on it to protect it, stain paint or oil...the rustic look is ok but not very protective. Color is vanity..but protection is necessary and valid. OMG your cooking bacon mmmmMMMMMMmmm....what was i saying?

The Siding is made of Poplar....I think some call it popple or different types of Aspen.....But from the Little Information or videos I found lots of people use it on barns. I think the secret is it has to get sun and be in a dry-ISH environment. If it were used on a cabin in the woods with all shade all the time i think it would rot. But because we are in the open on top of the hill we get lots of sun and wind to dry things out. I will be TREATING it or putting some type of Oil Based protectant on it at some point, But want It to Dry and Age before I do so. Poplar wood is actually a Hard wood.....harder than pine but softest of the hardwoods. So in my mind it should be as good as pine or better

Hard to beat a BLT ! I used a product called woodguard on my cabin , but I have heard a lot of good reviews on Cabot’s Australian Timber Oil. Thompson water seal does not last very long at all. It has to be reapplied every year or two to do anything.

There are gray oil based stains that would soak into that poplar very nicely. Also if you decide to "pressure wash" it to clean it they do make wood brighteners and look into soft washing. Pressure washing wood can really damage it and dosnt kill and of the mold and fungus that made it looking like that anyway.

No insurance my friend....I think most people who have property up north or little cabins can add some type of rider to their account to help if belonging were to get stolen.....but the cabin since it is off grid, is I believe uninsurable.

If I showed you chicken and salad in these videos it wouldn't get quite the same excitement as the BLT cheat. The lasagna is low carb...hence the zucchini noodles. My ears were burning when you started talking about your washer taking too long and pumping a lot. If you aren't getting a decent wash or spin. buzz me. though you guy;s work on a different system voltage wise from over the pond. the basics are the same. As i have 47 years experiance I might be able to help. The call out might be a bit expencive. air fair and extra''s. but you never i might be able to help you over the net.

Ha...that is funny and thank you for the offer. Jen and I tried filling it the old fashion way with the hose and just turning it to the wash cycle, but the new tecnology was not working that way, LOL. it made me hook it up on the back the correct way and we had to leave our pump running for a long time so it had pressure. I think it was working correctly, but I was trying to simplify it and the washer Technology was not cooperating, HA HA. SUPER appreciate the offer my friend
