I think Cali enjoys it when you dig the ground the best. She always gets excited and lies on the cooler stuff just dug up. She has such a great personality.

These beautiful videos I discovered are of indescribable beauty….

I didn't notice it was so short, it was packed with projects. Most of the channels I watch have taken well deserved vacations this summer, you did too. Good times with family is what matters, you've accomplished an amazing amount of building this past year.

Shawn take all the time you need. It’s always a joy to see your work and progress!

Family time is just as important as cabin time. Sweet Cali is so patient and beautiful, you couldn't have a better friend than her. I still have things I have to get done before the snow falls but I have no excuse for just plain laziness (I wish I did). Take care and stay safe, look for you again soon.

looks great just hope he replace the old type light with LED otherwise candle lights are about 25 to 40 watts each add them up and the drain my be too much on the solar supply.

Hey, Shawn, What amazing craftsmanship skills you have! This was a great look at your winter preps. Thanks for bringing us along on your homestead builds! I have enjoyed your craftsman footage and nature photography for many years. This was fun, as always. My granddaddy was a master carpenter in Warren County, North Carolina in the 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. He built lovely cabinets, mouldings, staircases and other features in some of the finest homes in the area. He was a man of many skills and few words. He loved the outdoors and to fish. Only folks who do a ton of outdoor projects can master the foot catch/balance of something about to hit the ground that isn't supposed to. That was a ballet move dude! You'll love your oven/slash smoker. We've used our cob oven a ton here on the farm over the years....and solar lighting is going to be a thing on the sailboat, so thanks for shedding that light. Pressure-canning milk, lard, tallow, almonds, and chicken and beef deli sandwich meat, while going back and forth to watch this new video!!! And throwing out all bioengineered foods from my pantry. I'm always in awe of how beautiful your cabin is, although it's much more than a cabin at this point. But one of my favorite parts of your videos is watching Cali watch you intently while you work so she'll know exactly where and when to leave her toy, forcing you to throw it in order to keep going. She's such a clever girl!

You remind me of my father. He had me use my grandpas double bladed axe to chop down trees long before I was allowed to use power tools like a chainsaw. I learned to appreciate the work I did using hand tools. I feel a sense of accomplishment chopping down dead fall with just an axe.

make the ladder / stair a counter weighted stair ... pull the cord it comes down ... lift it and it stays up ... then it can be over the walkway and still be out of the way when your not sleeping ...

Sometimes you just have to slow down and enjoy the ones you're with! I forgot that quite often during my career in the Military and subsequently missed a lot of my Boys growing up. I retired early so I wouldn't miss all of their growing up and I thank God that I did. Now they are grown with families of their own so I spend my time visiting my 13 grandchildren. Thanks for reminding me to just slow down..
