Owner of the snake and big enclosure here! Didn't expect to see my setup on here, been following your channel for quite a long time! When she does release waste in there it actually barely spikes the parameters, the filter is a heavy duty filter for small ponds, a nice amount of plants etc help too ofcourse, besides a small spike in nitrates the rest stays pretty stable. It does still require a 50% waterchange at that moment ofcourse, just to be on the safe end. But it is about 1000L (264 gallons) so the volume does help to reduce a spike too heavy to kill other animals in there. The siamese algae eaters have also gotten pretty used to her and realise she isn't interested in them in any way, they even will clean algae off her if she remains in the water for an extended period. :D Besides those there is a female bristlenose and about 20 japonica shrimp in there. If you have any other questions regarding the setup/maintenance, feel free to ask. :D Oh and yes, this is just in my house, instead of a guestroom I have a snakeroom. :p Edit: QOTW: I would love to visit Australia one day!

Yeah, even if you have a species like a BP and you get those people who say things like "They live in termite mounds, cramped space is fine" or "That enclosure size it soo big!", and while yes, clutter and plenty of hides are a must, it so much more rewarding to watch and see what they do with all the extra space and enrichment provided. That's why I built a 280.5 gallon vivarium for my 5ft male and will start making a 350 gallon for my female once I have the space and funds for it

The only thing that I personally saw in the Caribo/False Water Cobra enclosure in the first video that needed adjusted was the heat lamps/CHEs. While these guys do need a hot spot temperature of 90-95F, the lack of a cage around the lamps would allow a nose to bump into them and cause potential injury to the snakes. That's why if the lamp is inside the enclosure and within reach of the animal, you typically have to have a cage around it to prevent them from burning themselves on it
@yoshinowa1
Жыл бұрын
Owner of the snake/enclosure here, the outside of the lamps is actually insulated and doesn't heat up much, the bottom of all the heat lamps (all halogen) are covered with a cage, so she can't reach the lamps or burn herself. :D They are specifically designed for large enclosures that require the lamps to be mounted inside. ^^

@BeckyS thank you for the kind words! And yeah the lamp hoods are not commonly sold, I also added extra insulation on the inside of the hood around the lamp so it deflects more of the heat down. Ofcourse I did some tests by putting things on top of the hood for extended periods of time and then checking the temperature under the object (as if she would be laying on top of it) and it never gets over 26.5 Celsius (80 F) which is perfectly fine luckily! :D

Man as a reptile and exotic mammal zookeeper. That Hydrodynastes gigas setup is not dedication, overkill, nerd-level content etc etc.. That is done the right way huge respect to that person, how we all should do and honestly also should be a unwritten rule in the exotic pet hobby, to be able to give the very best conditions to human pets which are in our possession because we choose to. By that i mean, huge living quarter, bio active and a strive to make it the absolutely best life for them! Sadly that's far from how it really is today. It's embarrassing to see how most keep pets today.. Human greed and pursuit of pleasure is the big winner today, doing more damage to our hobby than good. It's cringe and a massive no effort in respect of life/living things :P Again, fucking mad respect to the Hydrodynastes gigas keeper. Big dick energy Chad right there!

All we can do is hope more and more people will change their mind about what good husbandry is and we see more people with nice big setups rather than tiny bins in racks!

I would just like to say that I got into fish keeping a couple months ago and I now have 2 ten gallon tanks housing a betta fish each- and it’s heavily planted! The grind never stops:,))
5:30 True! I work fishkeeping in the aquarium department of a pet store and I've got an instore 40 gallon tank for safe rescue fish that people bring in or get delivered to us! Some rescue fish that don't mix well with the other rescues often get taken in by the other workers or me (that's how I got my georgeous Horseface Loach!). Also all the sick but not dangerous fish get put in there too- some examples in the current squad is a Emperor tetra with a bent spine, a beautiful phantom-like grey blind betta that i feed by hand and a black tetra with swim bladder issues! At this point they're my faves in store but some get picked up by trusted and experienced clients!

The video discusses various aspects of a fish tank enthusiast's setup, including concerns about snake waste, stocking options, and the speaker's personal experiences and opinions. 1. 🐠 A fish tank enthusiast has an impressive setup with a python and a water feature, but there are concerns about snake waste impacting water parameters, and Escape Decor receives a cube-shaped item that surprises the speaker's fiance. 2. 🐠 A well-stocked 14 gallon tank is missing rummy nose fish, with a questionable centerpiece scape, a cute Father's Day photo, a sponsor shoutout, hatchet fish and Doritos, a noisy helicopter, and a 10 gallon tank with rasboras and Cory doraz. 3. 🐠 The speaker discusses their struggle with indecisiveness and compares it to the feeling of having a full mouth of food, while also highlighting the positive aspect of pet stores taking in rescue pets. 4. 🐠 A grade 10 school project improves a neglected betta fish's living conditions, while feeding fish deep-fried shrimp is unhealthy and can harm the ecosystem. 5. 💡 The speaker provides an update on their aquascape, mentioning the loss of some fish during acclimation, the growth of algae, and the progress of the plants. 6. 🐠 The speaker feeds the fish in the tank, shows a pregnant shrimp, and mentions a recent coral acquisition, while expressing anger towards a movie for putting a guppy in a freshwater enclosure and feeling strange watching an adult Ariel in a Disney remake typically enjoyed by children. 7. 🐠 The fish tank in the video has questionable stocking options and potential damage, including an electric eel and unclear fish species, while the speaker also mentions a cheap CO2 system and a bizarre object near their workplace. 8. 🐠 The question of the week is what is your favorite country that you would like to visit that you haven't visited yet, and mine is Italy because I want some pasta. THANK YOU

But since I had to do these things during lunch break, I could only do the bare minimum. So when I got home, the moss on top of the drift wood had developed a Captain Pike hairdo of hair algae! I just ripped it out, moss and all! May poke some moss out of it and put that back at some point.

Pro tip for deciding where to eat, what to watch, etc: One of you select 3 options and the other picks from those 3. Example: You say "I could eat Thai House, El Taco, or Maggiano's." She picks from those 3 options.
QOTA: Well, if we're saying where we wanna go that we haven't been I'd say Japan, South America in general but Brazil and Peru and Costa Rica are definitely on that list. Favorite place I'd wanna go again, Australia.
My dwarf rasboras and clown killis have no problem eating the NLS small fish pellets. They also love bug bites flakes. QOTW: Australia
Safin rang was the striped saltwater fish the “damsel” was a tomini tang which is bad since there’s no space of territorial areas and no algae there was a copperbanded butterfly which are shy and difficult to get eating and again there’s no hides the fox face is also an algae eater and theres probably aggression issues and parameter issues this tank needs sand live rocks and better filtration 12:45
I want to visit Canada. I've seen it, but never crossed over the line.
I may not dabble in it currently, but I've done a lot of research on subject as its something I certainly want to dive into, and that saltwater segment fails even as a quarantine tank. Judging by the size of the clownfish all these other fish are still very young, and all of which (arguably even the clowns) need WAY more space. For starters, that looks like a baby sailfin tang, which is one of the largest tangs in the hobby. Even small tangs need a considerable amount of swimming space with how active they are, and typically only thrive in well established aquariums with plenty of algae to graze on. Butterflyfish are considered some of the toughest fish to keep with how much live food they need in a single day, the Copperband alone probably needs to be fed at least 3 times a day, and this person has three butterflyfish(Copperband, Yellow longnose, and maybe a Chevron) in a small tank together. They might not fight eachother directly, but will compete for food, and unless you want to spend a hour feeding each one directly one of them is going to starve to death. The clownfish are the least offensive here, and a pair could possibly live just fine in a tank this small (damsels and most of their relatives, such as clownfish, are practically saltwater bettas with how tough they are. You have to be doing something VERY wrong for them to die on you). The problem is they have absolutely no hides; No anemone, no soft corals, not even any rockscape, and will be pretty stressed because of this.
When you are deciding where to eat, just tell your wife “ Guess where I am taking you for dinner.” Then say no on her first guess and when she makes her second guess say “ yes, that’s where I’m taking you.”
"its hard to eat my fish" that kid tried to eat his fish for sure.
I have only visited Canada (east coast): once for the World's Fair back in the dark ages... ... and once as an adult my "exotic dive trip" ended up on the bottom of the St Lawrence River. (I may have buried my gauges at 100')(that is, stuck them in the sand to record the deepest bits I got to, WHOOT!) It was actually fabulous: visibility over a hundred feet, warmish water in Sept (we only needed the shortie half of the 6mm wetsuit, and could leave our hoods off), sunken wrecks (dive buddy: let's do the Titanic scene on the bow of this sunken schooner), ripping good current (yeah, don't try to swim upstream) and a great (lengthy, authentic, candlelit, many courses) dinner at The Barracks (pure 18th century style) in Prescott. I was amused that when we crossed the border (in my beat up, very 'murican pickup truck) we were greeted by many Canadian flags: "you're not in Kansas any more..." I would love to return to "the not so frozen north"... Other than Canada, New Zealand (aka Aotearoa) or Ireland would be awesome.
False water cobras are a fun snake to keep, but mine is super shy.
Snake enclosure just 😍
That saltwater tank at 13 min might just be a quarantine tank, maybe that's optimistic. But that is exactly what it would look like. Still wouldn't put that many in at once though, looks like a 20 gallon. Saltwater fish are all still wild caught for the most part. We gamble every time we add them to an established system.
YESS! I love false water cobras❤
YOOO THE STREAM SCAPE LOOKS GREAT!!! So sorry about the rasboras :/ glad it’s doing fairly well otherwise!!!
This made me remember how the reptile community often keep snakes in tupperware and storage bins when they could be doing what this guy did
QOTW, I would like to visit New Zealand. I would also like to visit Tierra Del Fuego. Very good episode and I really liked the snake setup.
