The one absolute in Guilty Gear is that Johnny is cool. Even the teacher that had his students play +R and then made them rank the characters always put Johnny in a high tier despite no one playing him strictly because he's cool.

Joker Trick iirc used to be his Insta Kill, he'd turn his opponent into a card and then cut them in half, like how they changed Baiken's old OG Guilty Gear Insta Kill into a regular Super for her in later GG games.

Max says the coat wearing, card slinging, fan favorite is a "try too hard to be cool" kinda character, yet he loves Gambit... 🤔

Max is a 90’s kid, he loves Gambit and Vergil because of nostalgia and because 90’s kids acknowledge that they’re edgy and try-hard. Sometimes you need that extra 90’s edgelord energy to love a character. Johnny’s cool, but he’s just a little too self aware of his dorkiness

Johnny did hella damage and was super flashy can cool but it took skill to play him. He was op but only if you could land coins in the old games and that was incredibly difficult since you had to hit not whiff or be blocked. So he was good but only if you were good and labbed a lot with him to get to the point of him being op and od

It's cool that they turned Joker Trick from his Xrd IK into his new long-range super in Strive

1:50 I’m so glad Max called this out. It was the first think i notice when i figured out the cast heights. Sol stands at 6’0 but Ky, Zato and Sin stand noticeably taller at 5’10 (Ky) and Zato Sin (5’11) respectively. I think this on mostly on Sol’s build being much bigger and affecting his hurtbox. Extremely reminiscent to SFV when Sakura to me felt so tall being just 5’1 but towering 5’9 ryu.

I thought any Johnny is usually cool, especially seeing Strive is making him feel like Gambit with the Cards.

I like how Johnny's SUPERS are actual SUPERS and not just glorified PoP-Ups and Combo starters like most other characters. Some know what I mean.

I thought the coin could only be thrown out from a standing position, and landing it would increase the level of his Mist Finer. 2nd level was a harder, faster hit, and 3rd level would make it a multi-hit attack.

Yes. Revealed at evo for season 3. A defensive and offensive mechanic using half your burst. Plus they are going to be giving characters new moves
