It's common in a lot of countries from the Middle East to South Asia. My favorite part of making bone-in lamb curry is how the marrow soaks up all the spices. Same with pulao and biryani.

When I was a little girl, my grandma used to add some bones to the caldo de res. I really liked it, we used to ate it in tacos with salt

When I was little it was my favourite. I usually spent a few weeks of summer at my grandparents' at the other side of the country. Every morning my grandfather started chopping up huge bones to carve out the marrow, put a little salt, pork greaves, and some cucumber on it. He passed away when I was 10. My mother told a lot of stories about him. He wasn't exactly the best father or husband, but grandma and the three daughters loved him very much. And to me, he was the best grandfather I could've imagined. He taught me chess, fishing, taught me shooting in the backyard with old russian firearms left from the occupation, told me a lot of stories from the books he always read... He was truly the greatest. This video brought all those memories back.
