VW GTI TSI P2279 (Start Here) Full Cause List at End in Order
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
2016 Volkswagen GTI with the 2.0 liter TSI engine has a check engine light code P2279. There are several failed parts that can cause this code indicating an intake air leak. This was a less common and very easy to fix example. At the end of the video is a list of most common causes first in order to the least common causes by profession mechanics.

Excellent diagnosis! You are an actual mechanic, in a world of technicians! Most people that work on cars these days don't understand how any of the systems work, let alone how they interact with or impact other systems. Inspiring to see someone like you still exists!!!
After allthese years the legend still uploads God bless you
I had this issue on BMW but the difference was the plastic filler cap had a chunk out of it. It took a little to figure out with the sea of plastic.

Good find Mark! BMW's are a sea of plumbing aren't they?
My check engine light came on for P2279. This video prompted me to look at my oil cap which was tightened down properly. Thanks for the help. Great video!!!
i only want to say that u are really great dude, u saved me alot of money problem solved thanks
I think the oil cap oring might be missing on this one. Doesn't take much, even the dipstick oring not sealing properly will be seen as a vacuum leak👍
Well i swapped out the pvc flange, and replaced air filter with no luck. Saw your video so i said screw it. Cleaned oil cap and runs like a damn top. Thank you so much. How the hell you ever figured this out is beyond me
O M G,me brudder by anudder mudder is ALIVE!!! Walks off all cool n chit,"been a minute there Bri,suuupp esse?" 😂
Your the man Brian
I hate to think of how much time it took to discover that was the problem. My highest regards to you in being able to find the issue without feeling the need to swap out a bunch of parts in the process. I say that because it didn't look like a bunch of new parts under the hood.

Thanks Robert. No parts replaced. It took me an hour and half- next time will be faster.
Don't have one of those but good to know
There should be an o-ring on the oil filler cap. My 2016 gti has one.

Thanks for the tip! Does your cap look different than this one did on the underside? So far the light has stayed off.

@@briansmobile1 The cap looks identical. I had to double check it. The o-ring goes around the big groove and rests against the engine. You can look it up to clarify what I am trying to say 😂
I've had this issue before when it turned out to be my oil dipstick. Now I have basically the same issue again, but I don't know what it can be. It's sucking in air somewhere, but I'm not able to find it. Probably need to have it smoke tested or something.
My check engine light came on after an oil change on my 1.8 TSI. Cleaned the oil cap and that did the trick.
