VW Golf R32 timing chain replacement part 2. More work is needed... Is it worth?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome to part two of the R32.
In their first video I open up the engine from the timing side to see what happend. It wasn't only a stretch chain on the end , but broken guids as well. After an overall look the R32 needed a bit more than just a chain kit. After I finished the base job + more components the car ended up on the ramp for some more work.
What is all worth?

Hi I love your videos and your input as you went. I had many vw golf's and even a golf R, I ended up selling it and I buy a A3 3.2 VR6, for the money and the sound you get from a VR6 engine, it's hard to beat. Plus I think VR6 will go up in price in the future. My A3 I have decided not to ever sell it. My wife drives a mk6 tdi golf with dsg, it's a great car, my son drive a mk 4 tdi golf, and my other Audi is a Q7 4.2 tdi and it broke the timing chains, 183,000 kms, ( I check not clocked) 17 bend valves, 27 broken roller rockers, lots of damage, I going to weld up the upper sump, as the boss for a chain guide, got ripped off. It's been a pig of a job, but I hope to get it running again. I got a quote to do just the timing chains and guides and some seals, was $9500.00 new zealand dollars, and if anything else was found to be damaged would be a extra. So I been doing it myself, so far spent around $5000. For parts and head work. So once again I thank you for your videos as it help me work on my audi lemon.

For whomever moans about how much it costs to fix a car like that properly remember Dealer prices are outrageously expensive but you get what you pay for, you can obviously do it cheaper but it's a saying do it cheaper do it twice because unfortunately 90% of aftermarket parts quality it's utter shit , in my opinion on the brakes I would have gone with textar instead of factory since even VW uses those for lambos and the price have been about 50% cheaper and probably same or better quality but again you cannot find them locally anywhere in UK they have to be ordered from overseas, other then that what this guys are doing and how they are doing it is absolutely perfect. So remember you want quality you fork up the cash that's all !

Hey man. Can you share what are the acceptable crank positions for both 208 and 209? My vr6 is the FSI one with the HPFP. My chains were changed around a year ago and I have -1 and +5 for banks 2 and 1. And now I get this P0016 error on Bank1. So I wonder if my car was never timied accurately? I get the error randomly but each time it happened was only after driving it for some time and then going slow. Lastly if it is the adjuster failing, can it be swapped without pulling down the engine ? Thank you!
