Horse mean SPEED , torque means ACCELERATION. Judging by the fact that the SR has the maximum torque at lower RPM than the 16v counterpart , it can accelerate faster on a short run. However the 16v should surpass it in a long run.

i have mk4 golf 1.6 sr automatic and i have to say im impressd by the torque of the engine it feels stronger than 100 horsepower

the sr has an giant inlet manifold that is closely tuned for the 1.6 thats why is is very strong true its gear the 16v was later remade to a fsi

I was have SR and now have 16v.Yeah it's true,SR pull good at low rpm but at high rpm not pull so good like 16v.The SR consume a bit more like 16v.The SR it's a simple motor not have so much electronic like 16v,that was the only thing what I like on that engine.If driver know how to drive a 16v,SR not have chance to win a race.

how many oil it consume?

1.6 SR is faster than 16v its clear (the driver of 16v is not stupid) . Look at the torques of both cars. the 16V has 148Nm at 4500rpm, and the SR has 145Nm BUT ALREADY AT 3800rpm. very easy

Those are so close , it depends on the drivers...

J'ai la SR depuis 8 ans et aucune panne , je l'adore cet caisse , j'y ais mis une admission directe green , elle a un tres beau son , je l'ais deja poussé a 220 plusieurs fois , voilà un plein 95 = 500 KM je suis en 195/65/15 j'ai peur de mettre plus gros pour la puissance (perte) jp de picardie

Het is geen racemonstertje, dan moet je een GTI nemen. :P Heb zelf een Oxford 1.6, heerlijk bakkie maar gewoon relaxed mee rond kachelen en je kan jaren plezier hebben van zo een auto. Trouwens, mijn Ascona 2.0/SR uit 1978 trok met gemak een jongere BMW 320i eruit puur op PK / gewichts verhouding, had maar 972 Kg om mee te sleuren.

Hast du den Turbo umbau selbergemacht? besitze auch einen 1.6er sr und habe überlegt einen turbo umbau zu machen

Wie heißen die Felgen von dem 1.6 SR 8V? Sind das zufällig die vom Golf 5 R32 (Zolder brillantchrom)?

VW was always strong in 8V.......

I have a Skoda Octavia 1.6 sr 8v, with k&n air filter and chip. It moves very nicely and makes a nice grunt as well :) I just need a sporty exhaust and it should sound awesome :)

Der Achtventiler zieht halt untenrum besser, trotz weniger Maximalleistung. Ein typischer 16 V - Nachteil.

SR ist immer schneller als 16v , ob da jetzt ein großes Einlassventil oder zwei kleine öffnen , macht keinen Unterschied . Der SR hat schon wie der Name sagt ein Schaltsaugrohr was die Leistung ausmacht

@@Andrew-yb3wk More durable? I also find it quite interesting how the 1.6FSI engine in the golf 5 and 6 sounds almost identical to the 1.6l 8v engine in the golf 4 while the Golf 4 1.6FSI engine sounds more like a 2002-2009 Polo.

Robajz 750 is bad

The 1.6 SR is better motor and faster that the 16v.I have 16v and i know that SR is better.SR has less noise and is faster from low rpm.
