Im trying to start my grandpas 1969 beetle that was his daily drive until he had to move back to the US due to health issues. He passed last december. Im gonna try to get the beetle started. It needs a new battery.

Good luck with it, also check that critters haven’t been in the cooling fan if it’s been sitting a while.

@@BoostedVW Yeah. I plan on getting VW repair manuels online. Were taking the engine out and putting it into a body cause they body is falling apart. Ill make sure to check the fan.

Dang wish mine would start like that it's been sitting 2 years and I can only get it to fart lol

Hey. I know it's been a couple of years ain't you posted the video of starting the motor after nine years. But I'm curious. Did you squirt any oil into the cylinders or anything? Ps like the trike in the background

How did u use the transmission as a run stand? Did you have to take out the throw out bearing in the transmission and take off the clutch on the engine?

Nope it’s all just left stock as it would be in the car. There’s no clutch cable so the clutch isn’t engaged.

Hey what muffler is that you have on the engine?
