I am 77 and have been a devotee of SciFi since 1958... this is one of the best stories and presentations ever. I have searched like so many for an acceptable answer to first contact. Burroughs, Azimov, Saberhagen, Le Guinn, Bradbury and all that have followed could not have done better. It is about life seeking life; in the most honest way. One being to another without the burden of societal/cultural burdens. How fresh and thrilling to imagine that it could be that easy. Kudos to all involved. The best stories are about believable people. It was hard to laugh and cry at his recognizing the "message," but so satisfying. I am glad to have found this by accident ... my quest is complete. We should all share this with someone we care about. Adieu, mes amis...

I am 75 and agree. I couldn't have put it better. A unique approach to first contact.
I like the subtle clues that Clara was the "Voyager" and was sent, knowing she would not survive on Earth, to guide Isaac to her world, e.g., - the language skills, her quiet "mysticism" and that she seemed to come from "nowhere". Nicely done. Adams did a really good job playing the role of a guy who "fled to his head" to avoid facing his feelings about losing his child and eventually comes to realise who Clara was and what she was guiding him towards. A lot better than average for this genre, in my view.

I enjoyed this movie VERY much! Which actually shocked me, as I am very picky. Solid acting, solid plot, and I was NOT disappointed in the ending! One of the better movies I have seen in decades! And I came across it randomly on KZread! Funny thing is, it matches my own personal opinions of how we might actually come in contact with another species. It isn't beyond the scope of reality, nor is it full science fiction! REALLY good, and kudo's to all the actors!

I can't think of a better sci-fi movie. This is in the Jodie Foster "First Contact" genre of sci-fi, but way better. It unites science, religion, love, philosophy, and burned-out-guy-who-learns-to-love themes. I teared up two or three times.
I thought this film was beautiful. From start to finish. The two main characters had a wonderful chemistry together. The ending was emotional. Then I see that they're married. That really made sense. And made the ending somehow more comforting. ❤

The fact that we get hurt by love proves that we need training how to apply it to others and our selves. Real love is a giving, helping, aiding, and exist simply as an invitation to participate. Some people will never love, but demand obedience and submission without reward. Real love is it own reward. In loving others we love ourselves and give permission to be free. Free will is the highest love. And so God gives!

If the Dyson sphere was at the La Grange L1, then it would have been on the opposite side of the Jupiter sized planet viewed from earth when the planet was passing in front of the star. I also was in 6th grade in 66. And used to always be outside with my small telescope plotting out the coordinates. Even back then at 11, I knew that had to be some life out there. Mostly I was always hoping to see some sort of alien craft, like so many people claimed to. But I never did😢😢
The intertwining of the Voyager Clara and the astrophysicist was so touching that they became one flesh in 2016 as they tied the knot.
Absolutely SUPERB! The best SCI-FI film I have ever seen. It goes to prove you do not need a massive budget to bring about a thought provoking SF masterpiece.
What an absolutely amazing movie! No million dollar CGI. No action sequences or romance. No nothing...yet I could not stop watching this movie. The story. The acting...everything was done so brilliantly I didn't leave my seat or pause once through out. It was like watching a really good book...a book that you couldn't wait to get to the next page. This allows the imagination to fill in between the lines. Clara is not who she appears to be. They develop a dance of the hearts and it becomes apparent in the end who Clara is revealed as; she has nurtured and softly guided the quest to find the answers and she is the answer he has been looking for. It is a reminder of who I lost, my dearest Rosita 3 1/2 years ago.
