This goes to how they started the writing process of turning it into a show. They had every cast member submit a list of their favorite moments and phrases (theirs or others), and then had the hired writing crew construct the plot around those high points. Which is why lines like "yours is the face I saw when murder entered my heart" got in. That system has worked out brilliantly. All of the coolest moments get compressed in. Fun fact, Scanlan's little dance near the end was rotoscoped off of Sam Reigel filming his wife dancing with his phone. He gave that to the animators and asked them if they could insert it somewhere in the show.

4:46 Interesting that you bring up Alice Is Missing; the game designer Spenser Starke is now a member of the Critical Role team and has helped develop their new game systems Candela Obscura and Daggerheart. He was even game master for one of their example Candela games with Travis(Grog) and Marisha(Keyleth) among the players, and it was very good(emotionally devastating)!

I LOVE the shot of the Everlight when she first appears like a sun! I took a shot of it when the show first dropped and it's been my desktop background since.

I love the moment when Grog just grabs Vax's head like an orange, because like, as you said, we've seen him kill before, even in this episode, but I think seeing how truly massive he is compared to his friends in this moment hits different. I mean, every member of VM is formidable at this point, iirc they're around level 12 here? (or thereabouts? I forget exactly) But Grog is terrifying even empty handed, and he split a dragon skull in half with that axe. Disarming him was a good move, but it really would have taken all of them to bring him down. The "You're the face I saw when murder entered my heart." line was improv at the table, with very similar delivery, which is just *chef's kiss * Also, that perfect ricochet shot feels like a nod to the frequent nat 20s Taliesin rolled as Percy. Sometimes he seemed to get that crit exactly when he needed it, those dice telling a story. (In reality he didn't roll that many more crits, percentage-wise, than the other characters, but because of his crunchy fighter/gunslinger/homebrew build, he rolled a lot more OFTEN, so it felt like there were more nat20s. He rolled a lot of 1s as well. So many misfires and mid-combat gun repairs, lol.) Great reaction, looking forward to the next one!

I will say that in a fantasy setting that celebrates the Equinox as a major holiday, the closer you got to the holiday the bigger the chance that the general population would know how many days until said holiday. For instance if New Years Eve was 5 days away, I think a lot of people would know that.
