The good thing about both models, is that both are waterproof. I have been swimming with my Komandirskie with no problems at all. I bought it first, then of course had to have an amphibia model. I like them both the same, the best watch value on the planet.

You are partially wrong. There are Komandirskie 30m and 200m waterproof. 30m model got cases made of brass, those with 200 m got steel cases like amfibia.

I recently purchased a Komandirskie paratrooper. I love the green dial and just the overall look of the thing. Cant wait to use it.

I've been raiding the cheaper aisles on ebay, getting some absolutely lovely Amphibia's and Komandirskies, have also a couple of Raketa's now and an Olympic celebration Slava. I paid £17 delivered for a very early 1980's Amphibia that keeps astonishingly good time for something pretty old.

I have modded/parts assembled 3 Amphibia over the last couple years and recently 2 Komandirskie, specifically 020706 and 650541. Both these Komandirskie feature brushed stainless steel case and crown and stainless steel bezel with what I believe is an acrylic insert. Automatic movements (24h 2431 in the 650541) and both 200m water resistance. Top quality and looks on both of these watches, nothing less than their Amphibia cousins. Some very cool Komandirskie offerings in 02 and 65 lines, priced the same as any base Amphibia found at Meranom, definitely worth taking a look at if shopping around. Thanks for great videos! As a big fan of Vostok, I actually have several of each, but I think your overall advice & breakdown of features for each will help perspective buyers. Both have a similar, but endearing quirkiness, yet are different enough to appreciate those differences. I say adding both to your collection for approx. $100, seems like a good option as well!

After watching this a few months back I just recieved a Vostok Amphibia in the mail, mine has the same face of your paratrooper Komanderskie but is housed in the Amphibia model. Really happy with it, looks fantastic on a Nato strap, this will see a lot of wrist time. A great watch, thanks for your recommendation.

I am up to 3 Amphiba, they work for me. I had to have one adjusted and my jeweler was impressed with the quality.

I dont have these exact models but indeed bought me an automatic and a hand wind model. They are both in there own way great watches and an incredible value for the money. And i now have a nice idea for a lot of presents to buy.

I recently purchased 2 Komandirskes. Both were stainless steel cases with 200m water resistance, with the domed acrylic crystal and the classic caseback. One was a 65 series and the other was a 02 series.They are also Automatics. I find them very cool. Meranom had them for $78 US.

I put a black with gray stripe Nato strap on my "captain submarine" edition. The thin case does work well with it.

I bought a Komandirskie a while back thinking it might give me a taste for an Amphibia. Turns out the Komandirskie satisfies me pretty well and I haven't had any impulse to go Amphibia. I like the workmanlike aesthetics, it's durable, reliable, and I've always liked the way plated brass watches patina. The only downside I've found is that once you eliminate the more juvenile graphic designs they offer, there aren't many left that appeal to me. I'm not into jets or tanks, and have enough problems with my own country's patriotic symbols. Don't get me started on Red Stars. Lastly, I'm not all that fond of bulky, oversized watches that seem to be the way they all are these days. The Komandirskie is about the limit for me. Anything bigger is no go.

Hey there Oleg & Bond!!! Gotta say that I really enjoy your Vostok videos...keep them coming!!! I'm a lazy/forgetful person (Ok, mostly lazy) so I do not have one watch that is specifically hand wind. I guess my #1 requirement in a watch is that it can run itself (either automatic, solar/battery powered) I just can't trust myself to go through the motions of hand winding every day. I know lots of people enjoy their hand wind watches and there is nothing wrong with that. So for me, the Amphibia watches are perfect. I love modding them too!! I like changing the bezel to the compass style. Since I'm not a diver, the compass bezel is a much more useful tool on my watches. Thanks for the great video!!

Very nice review. I just want to say that there are a lot of komandirskies that have the same specifics of the amphibias (automatic movement and 200m water resistent). Of course the "classic kind" of Kommandirskie is the manual one

Received cushion case amphibia yesterday, still spot on accuracy (only 1.5 days I know). But its an instant hit! Beautiful lines. One review captured my mood 'someone doesn't buy one my accident' only because you've done your dive watch research and 'The watch is a beautiful monstrosity. Every bit as bizarre as I expected it to be, and I just love it'. Sums it up for me. Thanks for your video.

So addictive! I am now up to 5 Amphibias and 2 Komandirskies - I have changed out bezels and bands on all 7 (though the stock silicon strap is not bad!). Anyone ever notice how blinding those hideous chrome bezels are?- can’t even read them in direct sunlight! Wouldn’t trade ‘em for nothin’! (Excuse my American southern accent, lol!) Keep up the great reviews Oleg!!

I recently purchased a Vostok Amphiba Neptune. No regrets.

I have both watches, my daily watch is a komandirski diver with a black on grey nato strap. Honestly, for mine, the time keeping is not good. But I really love the look and the mechanical aspect with winding it is cool to me.

Love Vostoks. I have several.....Komandirskies, Amphibias, and Amphibia Special Editions, some new, some vintage made in the USSR/CCCP which were obtained from eBay including a 1st Generation(1967-75) Amphibia.

Went down the Vostok rabbit hole a few days back and order is already in. These things are so cheap to purchase I bought one of each, since I like them both. Probably pick up a NATO strap as well, but probably for the Amphibia. I kinda like the look of the leather on the stock Komandirskie.

They are starting to creep up in price.

My friend, your video is great. thank for your time and effort. Let me tell to anybody that the bezel in Vostok Komandirskie and Amphibian are so good. We move easy the bezel using two finger with one we pull, with the other we pouch. This never will happen is we hit the bezel with something. The impact going to be in one direction. Try to move the bezel with one finger and you can see . Impossible to pull, and very difficult when we pouch. Underwater 10 meters , you can not move the bezel even with a pair of pliers.

As you know I bought the Komandirskie first. It is a bit small for my wirst but I still in love. Next I'll try to buy an Amphibia... or a Casio Duro that looks very nice in pictures. But the Amphibia is my priority for sure. I have around 20 options saved in Ebay to choose when my budget allow. Nice video, Oleg. Best for you my friend.

In the 6 digit model number, the first two digits are the case style, the third is the case metal type, and the last three are the dial design. Your Komandirskie has a 1 so it is made out of chrome-plated brass. The Amphibia has a 0 so it is stainless steel. Most of the Amphibia models like the popular 420 and 710 have chrome-plated brass bezels and crowns. You can buy a stainless steel crown as an accessory, and you can replace the bezel with an aftermarket stainless steel one if available. The Komandirskie 65 has both a stainless steel bezel and crown. It appears to be identical to the Amphibia 670 other than the case finish is mostly brushed.

I have 2 Vostok watches and both from Meranom... 420 and a 820 cases and I love them both equally as I reside in SW Florida and need watches that scoff at seawater.

I have the scuba dude Amphibia, it’s great.

I already own two Amphibia (a vintage and a black scuba dude), so I went to check the link for the Komandirskie, but unfortunately the reseller wants $75 for shipping. Fortunately other resellers are charging $10 more, but offering free shipping. Certainly it might take longer to receive, but I'm in no rush. If I'm not understanding how Ebay shipping works (for instance if there's a cheaper way to have something shipped that I'm not familiar with, please share. I've only ever purchased a couple of items off of Ebay, so I'm very open to suggestions. Thanks again for the great review!

Oleg... great review. I have heard it is easy to change the bezels between different Vostok watches... and that it really changes the look without having to buy new bezels. I was wondering if you could do a quick video showing various Vostoks wearing the interchangable bezel for other Vostoks.

That blue is gorgeous surrounded by the stainless. Do you find the rubber band is more comfortable than the nylon? Or vice versa?

The GMT Komandirskie was my first :) Its like the best of both worlds with GMT added xD

That was excellent no one has compared the 2. Decided on the blue ampbhibia. I said no more watches this year but I had to. U should get a vostock and make a custom dial with Bonds face Or maybe get and undone watch with his face it's awesome.

Haha. I settled for the best of both worlds. For me that is the older Amphibia’s that were manual wind and only 12mm thick vs 15 for the automatic Amphibia.

I wished I’d jumped on the Vostok wagon 5yrs ago. The prices are crazy now. I have 4 automatics (2 of them are Scuba Dudes) and 2 manual. There are some Komandirskie that are automatic also.

You could do a modification with a portrait of Bond on the dial...

I like both types of Vostoks. I have Komandirksie as daily beaters, I have a a slightly modded Amphibian if I'm gonna be near water and for my of work hours. Wished they would do the traditional brass komandirskie cases in stainless steel though. I have very acidic sweat (or whatever it is), the chrome plating starts dissolving within a month. Cheap enough to buy a new one every so often, but it's a waste of perfectly fine movements.

Excellent video. These watches are simply awsome! As a mechanical engineer, I appreciate clever design, functionality, durability and low price - all of which these watches exhibit. My brother have bought me Amphibia and I've got Komandirskie from my nephew. These wonderful gifts drew my attention to Vostok and it's vast range of very nice and practical models.

Is there anywhere to find that rubber strap now?

I'd love to see you do a water test on the Komandirskie Classic. I think the 20M water resistance listed for them is probably way too conservative. I bet they should be 100M+. I haven't gotten any of mine wet just because on paper (only 20M resistance listed) they really shouldn't be submerged at all. I really want to see a torture test to failure on the classic so we can see how deep it goes. :-)

I am eagerly waiting for someone to test the 20m water resistance. I have the "Airforce Commander" version which I have been wearing for over a month. And I do get it wet when washing my hands.

Yes, I believe it's just amphibia with a different dial.

I dont swim with any watch. I have some vintage komardirskies including a USSR period one. I like the smaller size, thinner manual wind and even have one with the 2 o clock crown. Im betting the manual movement is simpler and less teouble. They're my lets get funky watch. All 4 working good, ones losing a minute every few days. Since they aren' t worn daily whats the point of buying the auto? I have to set the time when I put it on. I have the sub one, the bostok helicopter one, the red star flag sub one and a tank one with a vertical line down it. I look for the smaller bezels in that line. Kinda like a durable chap Russian version of timex. I've never seen anyone else wearing one. Cheap 20 $ or so pleasure.

What about metal bands either sliver or gold color ?

Can you put a SKX bezel on the Vostok Komandirskie? I really want to buy one and mod it, you said the bezel can be replace, but is it the same dimentions as the Amphibia?

Yes, I believe you can fit the SKX bezel on Komandieskie. I did a mod video for Amphibia and they have the same bezels.

I have two of the komandirskie watches. I will get an amphibia next.

Are all amphibias automatic? It feels like mine needs to be hand-wound.

I just dont understand why the bezel doesn't click. If you are diving and it runs against something you now have a problem with how much time you may have left. It cant be too expensive to add that feature.

The bezel is easy to set, and almost impossible to move by any accident. I have a Komandirskie for 26 years and never the bezel have been move once time I set it up. In the case that the bezel is to lose, it is very simple to tight it up.

No date Amphibia is the best gateway into Vostok

Just ordered my 2nd Vostok! They are so inexpensive and fun I m really starting to develop a liking for them I may even have a standard watch display for my Breitling and Bulovas and others and have a second display box just for Vostok watches! Have to hand it to the Russians for these little jems!!
