    Good video! Would be interesting with a test of the front-wheel drive XC40 when it is available. Also a test where you tow a caravan with the XC40 or Polestar 2, since they can tow 1500kg. Greetings from Sweden😀

    Thanks for doing this Kris, you rock. Pick up my own 2022 XC40 Recharge Pro spec (no p8 anymore) on Monday. Really, really, really excited to pick up my very first new car and its full electric..     Enjoy my 2022xc40 p8 since a month. June software. Getting used to driving this phenomenal luxurious car. Driving pleasure square! Intuitive! I’m Dutch but absolutely no Max Verstappen. NB Havard Hansen: my 72 year old ears observe the same high pitched tone at cruising speeds (90-100-110 km/h). Guess it’s the drive train, indeed. NB Kris: Great test again! Keep going and keep your smile! NB just received info about upcoming new software with again improved battery management (=longer range????..)

    From the dashboard layout (Pilot Assist icons), I can see that the car you are driving is still on an outdated "software". Later updates (late June) have brought (supposedly) some range improvements.

    Thank you Kris for doing this test. I really appreciate the value of the new motorway range test. For many of us over 600km is too much for 90% of our domestic trips and we have to stop anyways (food,restroom,etc...). It would be nice if you can go closer to 0% state of charge though but I guess we need more BKK charging stations. 😉

    The point of the test is that is not too long so we can test cars with shorter range too and get back to the starting point 😊 especially in winter we struggled with the old test to get back, hopefully this new test works better 😊

    Curious to find out if you could hear a high-pitch whining noise at cruising speed. I ask since you’re still young enough to hear it 😁 I have this in my XC40, almost certain it’s related to the drivetrain. Keep the great vids coming!

    This looks like a great standardised test. Not too long (you could do 2 in a day!) & not too short, flat and more consistent traffic conditions like you said. I enjoy your videos Chris, the information is really valuable for potential buyers and as you develop your test regimes this will only get better. If you want to calculate a new stat from your figures --> what is the real available battery capacity in this particular car/battery pack? From this test drive: 230.7 km driven 78% of available battery used 249wh per km consumption 230.7 x 249 = 57,444Wh capacity used (= the 78%) 57,444 ÷ 0.78 = 73.65kWh, = 100% on the readout, real available battery capacity for this individual car. Then there's the question - does the car's OS use this real value to calculate range or does it calculate only from the fixed 75kWh figure? How "honest" is the system or what is the % discrepancy if it does not use the real-time value. Can it be manually corrected in the OS? So now you can also see the battery pack degradation from the "as new" figure of 75kWh available or net capacity = 1.8% degradation (73.65 ÷ 75 x 100 = 98.2%) = 98.2% remaining of the standard figure & 1.35kWh capacity loss. This battery pack has a 98.2% "State Of Health" (SOH) at whatever age and kms + stationary "on" hours of use it is at (lifetime "on" hours is shown by connecting the OBD to an app). In normal use most of the degradation will occur in the first year and then slow down. If a previous owner (or a car journalist! Not you Chris but I have seen it done deliberately by an English one to 6 cars!) has driven the car below 0% and to the absolute end of the low-end buffer, when it will not drive anymore at all, then severe degradation/damage may have occurred if the car does not have a battery protection cut-off. This might be important as the second hand market grows over the next few years (and is already significant for Teslas) and the health of the battery pack is definitely worth knowing before purchasing a second hand or ex-demo EV car, maybe to negotiate a discount or to rule it out if it is too severe a reduction in range. A car's battery pack warranty may say, for example, "up to 8 years or 160,000kms" but buried in the small print it may also say, for example, "below a limit of 70% SOH". So if a car's battery pack has degraded to below an SOH of 70% within 8 years or 160,000kms (by my example) it may be replaced under warranty.

    Hi Kris, i noticed that the charging speed wasn’t showed in the car display, I watched another video with XC40 last night and that XC40 showed the speed just like the Polestar 2 do now days. Maybe just an software update that are needed right? 😊

    Hi Kris, Like Matt Bowen, I’m also picking up a 2022 XC40 Recharge Pro spec (not a P8) in December. I note on your spreadsheet, because you are using the P8, the wheel size is 19-inch. The Pro spec is 20-inch. Is there anything else which is different between the P8 and Pro spec and would that difference in tyre size be significant? I only mention this because on your new Audi E-Tron GT 'Motorway Range Test' video, at around 04:30 into the video, you mentioned the potential difference driving on 21-inch wheels against 20-inch wheels. I just wondered if the same could be true of the XC40 Recharge Pro? Will you be testing the 2022 XC40 Recharge Pro spec car...?

    It was a bit hard to see the screen because of the sun and reflexions. Love these Delta chargers👍 Have worked flawlessly when I' ve used them. 110 kmh is pretty fast but still Volvo.. . 25 kWh/100 km in absolutely ideal conditions is not great. In winter... Keep it up Kris!

    Jag ställer frågan rakt ut då jag ser en ”Persson här:) Vilken bil ska man egentligen köpa idag? Har ärligt gått från polestar till tesla m3 och kollar även lite på ID4 . Börjar bli less på att jämföra men det känns som att båda ID4 och tesla m3 får hyfsad range, självklart är de inte i samma genre bilar men den ska vara till en familj av 4. Laddar hemma och åker långt 1-3 ggr per år inom Sverige mest. Sorry om jag bara kastar ut frågan i fel forum här :) Hälsningar från Tullinge.

    @@AzizIzgin tjena Aziz. Polestar är snygg och ball men baksätet är för litet. . Känns inte som en familjebil. Id3 vi har har strulat som tusan, tyvärr. Skoda Enyaq verkar folk nöjda med med typ samma mjukvara som id bilarna. Pålitlighet? Tesla Y men hård fjädring, nog mer sport än familj. Mkt, mycket lättare hitta billig mindre billig elbil än större familjebil. Kommer en massa lovande för rimlig peng. Leasa billig elbil som andrabil för vardagskörning så länge???

    @@anderspersson6134 ja du kanske har rätt Har pendlat så mkt nu mellan bilarna. Är inne på en begagnad 2019 model 3 LR nu. Kanske den är mer högljudd dessvärre men det blir billigare iaf. Den var rymligare än jag trodde. Hade velat att stötdämparna var lite mjukare… Egentligen tycker jag id4 är en bättre byggd bil men dom ren ev gillar jag teslans koncept… Det knäppa är att när ”bygger” Id4an på hemsidan så drar det iväg när man lägger på utrustning som är ganska standard enligt mig… det blir dyrare än teslan tyvärr nypris. Tror kanske du har rätt… Det är idé att vänta kanske då marknaden växer så det knakar. Får se om jag orkar bara :)

    @@AzizIzgin vi har två elbilar. En id3 som strulat ggr många och VW-service problemlösning har inte varit kul alls. Sen har vi den smått föraktade Mazdan MX 30 med relativt litet batteri. Den funkar som en schweizisk klocka och omhändertagandet hos Mazdahandlaren har varit det bästa en annan varit med om som bilägare. Vi älskar Mazdan. Typ Sveriges billigaste bil att drifta. Vi kanske haft otur med id3an? Men servicenivå Mazda resp VW har varit som 1a klass resp stående i lastrummet. Konstigt men sant.

    @@anderspersson6134 Oj, jag trodde servicenivån på vw skulle varit bra... hmm, jag uppskattar verkligen informationen. Det får mig att fundera ändå. Mycket av det som är tilltalande gällande vw är enligt mig att de har ett stort nätverk av verkstäder men om servicen inte är på topp... ja, då är det mindre intressant. Det kanske är så att du har haft otur med id3an... Det beror ju på när du köpte den och vilka typ av fel du haft, rörde det mer mjukvara än hårdvara? Jag pratar med min fru gällande eventuellt att köpa en billigare "tilsvidare-bil" som åtminstone klarar 5mil på en laddning ... isf hybrid plug-in eller ren el. Med tanke på att den kommer att vara ganska temporär så skulle jag vilja att den enkelt går att sälja vidare också isf nästa år och då vet jag inte om hybrid är mer tilltalande som andrahandsbil eller el? Antar att hybriden är mer ett säkert kort... Jag är nyfiken på hur mkt Mazdan kostar ca begagnad,,, ?

    Looks from the display that you've got the last software version on that P8 - I seem to be getting 10% or so better consumption after the update. 20kWh/100km on my last trip Leeds > London > Leeds

    @@Simensandberg6994 another 200mile motorway trip this week, 75mph average and 20.2kWh/100km efficiency. If you were to drive at 60/65mph, you'd get the promised range. I reckon, I'd never do it.

    Weirdly high consumption. I have a stretch of around 200km that I've driven like 10 times, 1/3 of that road is 120km/h the rest 110 km/h. Consumption is always around 20-21 (depending on wind and traffic), never above 23. I am on the newer software update though, but shouldn't make that much of a difference.

    I would say that you have weirdly low consumption, as I’ve never gotten close to your consumption in any of the three or four test vehicles Volvo have lent me. But either good for you getting that good consumption 😊

    Good format, only for some cars 150kW won't be enough :) Question: Why aren't you putting the data into Google Sheets so that people can compare vehicles if they plan to obtain one? For the car, it seems less inefficient than I feared. 300km is not bad for an ICE-conversion, especially with two PSM motors which are permanently connected.

    It's pathetic that the user must push in on the charging plug to successfully start charging. It's unacceptable IMHO for it to have poor contact / fail to initialize a charging session without pushing in on the plug.
