Volvo WXLL Dempster Recycle One Garbage Truck

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This will likely be my final feature video of this truck, as it now only runs very rarely as a spare or help truck. As my area continues to grow substantially, a much larger volume of recyclables is being collected now, so this truck has been replaced with a much, much larger tandem-axle Labrie Top Select on a Volvo WXLL chassis. If the opportunity presents itself, I will of course get more footage of this truck, but as I said, the likelihood is slim at best, so I hope guys enjoy this video!
As a side note, for those who are interested, I have a video that features this truck collecting 96-gallon carts of commercial recyclables that also includes a couple shots of this truck and it's twin that was retired close to two years ago ejecting at the local recycle center, which can be seen here: • Dempster Recycle One o...
As always, a huge thank you to the very friendly driver for allowing me to film this video, and thanks to all of you for watching!

a rear loader with a compartment up front for glass is the best option to handle the larger volumes of waste... Nice video B! Hope to see more of this truck

A fitting send off vid for my favorite of the regulars on your channel. I used to love following an almost identical truck around my neighborhood as a kid on Saturday mornings something like 12 years ago. The bulk RLs hardly ever had anything to pick up, and the 7000s were really cool in their own right, but there was nothing quite like the manual action of the Recycle One. The crashing glass, the hustle from stop to stop, and if I was lucky the driver would do a body dump to shift the load. Lots of great memories. Nice vid!

San Jose used to have similar trucks. I can't be sure if they were Dempsters, but they certainly were not Recycle Ones. The old recycling trucks were Macks, and had a similar system of sorting recycling into compartments for later dumping. The contents of each compartment was dumped into a pair of industrial-looking containers. This method came to an end in 2002, when both the old recycling trucks and the Amreps on garbage were replaced by Labrie Cool Hand Co-Collectors, which itself was recently replaced by Automizers (recycling) and ZRs (garbage).

UPDATE: they were ADR trucks. And the chassis weren't Macks, they were Freightliners.

Do trucks like this have a compactor? And how do they unload if they keep everything separate?

Hi, I intend to use the clip for my school assignment. Just need to make sure whether you're OK with this. If not, please let me know. I will definitely reference it properly. Regards

How come cans and paper and cardboard don't get separated? Do they get separated in the trucks body? Or eventually get separated like at the dump or something?

It seems like it's just like single-stream recycling. With glass being separated at the curb.
