Hello! Thanks! for a valuable Video. Do you know how to buy Vida Dice for Volvo cars from Model Year 2018 and up? And do you know if my Volvo s60 D3 150 hp 4 cylinder, Year model 2018, is exactly the same, in the engine, as your engine is in the Video? Can I follow your video, when I have to change the valve cover gasket on my car? Thanks! From Tommy Bertilsson from Sweden

Very good video. do you need to bleed the common rail system or can you remove the injectors and start the car without having problems?

Hi, thanks. I have another one on the channel where I explain the things as well. You don't have to bleed the fuel system, the car should start up after this job without any problems.

it's 10 Nm for the valve cover bolts. If I recall correctly it is M14, but not 100% sure on that one.

I like your video but,,,, the injector leak off tube clips are supposed to be pushed in to release them not pulled right out as you did. They can be tight but, press the plug itself in a little and push down the top of the silver clip at the time and it goes down with an obvious movement. The pipe then pulls off.

2018 V90, Oil leak problem on valve gasket - much smoke from manifold. Usualy i do it myself, but my car is in guarantee - so volvo will do it. my technician said it's not just the fault of the seal, but that there wasn't enough sealant somewhere on the bearing blocks; it is a known problem. Just for info here - or does anyone have more information about this. Thank you, nice work. seems to be a good engine...

There was no sealant used on this engince, except the rubber gasket. I am not sure about if that is a common problem. However in this video the problem was the PCV system, that's why it was pushing the oil out from underneath the valve cover gasket.

@@MrNiceGuy94 Ok, thabk you. Got m car back - all done by volvo, no invest for me. Valvegasket is new, also a metal pipe exhaust gas recirculation (agr in german) was broken. So if volvo pays this malfunctions is ok - but in 1 month my car is 5 years, then the warranty ends - so i have to do it myself...

@@MrNiceGuy94 How did you fix the camshaft when you changed the timing belt? What I'm curious about is that the position of the timing belt will be misplaced when installing the tensioner of the timing belt. I would appreciate it if you could tell me the precautions when installing the tensioner.

  • @MrNiceGuy94

@Blue berry Yeah, that surprised me too that even in the original service manual they don't fix it. So first and foremost I used a marker pen, possibly white and marked the camshaft gear and the cover around it when the first cylinder is at the TDC(top dead center). You will definitely need a helping hand to put back the new timing belt. Actually I had the tensioner put back already when I was putting back the cambelt. You will need a tool to fix the crankshaft and the high pressure fuel pump tho. I would also recommend you marking the high pressure fuel pump gear and counting the ridges or tooth spaces on the belt from the camshaft gear marking to the high pressure fuel pump marking so that you know the exact distance between them and make the marking accordingly on the new belt. So when putting everything back together they will match and therefore you don't mess up the timing. If you have any other question or something is not clear just ask. Or if you need I can make you a private short video explaining it. Just let me know.

@@MrNiceGuy94 Thank you very much..There seems to be no timing fixing tool for the Volvo d4 engine. What I'm curious about is that the timing mark point will be twisted when the tensioner is applied. Because there's no mechanism to hold the camshaft. If I set the timing mark point well and give tension to the tensioner, won't the timing mark point go wrong?

@@Blueberry-ek1yy after putting the tensioner to proper tension check the marks that they line up, spin engine so camsaft turns atleast one rotation and check marks again. Be cautious with the marks that what angle you look at them because usually there is something on the way so you dont see it properly. Good tip is to mark it with some marker and then use small screwdriver etc and put it to the line that is one the timing cover and check if it lines up with the mark on camshaft sprocket, this makes sure that even if you look at it from an angle you'll notice it if it is on wrong tooth or has moved too much. Most of the time they dont move during the time when you adjust the tensioner. If it goes wrong then just readjust. These engines pretty easy to do timing belts on, only shitty part is the last part of putting in the belt cuz it is tight asf

Hello, I reply to you in English as my written Polish is not the best. If you need just copy the reply into google translate. So the reason there are no any additional details such as torque specs because I am going to do a fully narrated and detailed video on this job. However I messed this one up a little bit, I should have changed the whole cover, but more on that one later. So if you are interested in the torque specs and sequence leave me your e-mail address or send me an e-mail to mrniceguy21@gmail.com Hope this helps.

@@MrNiceGuy94 when is this video being released? What tool are you using to remove the injectors?

Hello, you can follow the steps in this video until the narrated one is not being made. Only mistake I made is that I should have changed the valve cover as the whole intead of just the gasket. The tool used to remove the injectors is a slide hammer for injectors. Let me know if you need the link for it. 😉

@@MrNiceGuy94 if you could send me the link that would be great! Could you also post the torque value's for the valve cover? Why did you have to replace the whole valve cover?

@@xc60d3 Here is the tool: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QT7Q6ZZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it is from UK amazon, but you get the idea. The torque specs for the valve cover bolts are 10NM. The reason I have to replace the whole valve cover is because the PCV valve is probably broken inside it, therefore it has positive pressure. If you put a glove on the oil filler cap with the engine running and it inflates the glove that means you have a bad PCV valve. So basically I didn't fix the root of the problem just the symptom, that's why I have to change the whole valve cover for free of charge as I could have checked that prior changing the gasket only. Hope this answers your questions. However if you have more, feel free to ask them. ;)
