sending data to China😂 number one Bjorn, the best analyzer of bev worldwide, big support for you from Italy⚡🔝
Bjorn, thank you SO much for reminding us how tall you are. So many reviewers skip this and there is no frame of reference for their observations. It is almost as if they are embarrassed about their height! Like the viewer gives a sh it, they just want to understand how much space the car offers. You are a star and in so many ways you set the standard for a good review.
Loved the child seat test. My youngest is now 17. The seats have come on a lot since we needed one. Great swiveling design.

The smaller the kids are, the bigger a car you need 😂.

@@pawekropi5077 Definitely, thankfully mine are just adults now and I can get away with a tiny Honda e.
If you push the middle bottom on the seat adjustment knob you can adjust the lower back support etc. There is space on the left side of the steering wheel buttons, i wish they had put there the cruise control buttons instead than on the stalk
Only Bjorn could conceive the baby ballast test. Do we really need more proof that he is the number one as far as reviewing EVs? Question: does tilting the whole rear view mirror create some horrible wind noise at speed? One would guess that the shape of mirrors DOES impact aerodynamics…
You’re a very funny and refreshing reviewer. Great humour😅
perfect video for my family, thank you!
I very like the style and concept of the EX30. But I had to delete it from my shopping list; not much space (in the 2nd row) and then too expensive compared to the competition.

Exact same. I just couldn't justify it when i was getting an ID.4 for around the same price but that has far more range and features. The only thing is its a bit bigger than i wanted but ID.3 77kwh you lose 1 back seat - so ID.4 it was and cant wait to recieve it following Bjorns latest reviews on it 😊
Good review, thanks.
The cup holder tray will slide back so you can use the space in the arm rest space
9:56 te door pocket is not designed to hold a bottle straight. it will slide around and even fall flat in the pocket. not good because the bottle holder in the middle is going to be obstructing your armrest
18:40 That's the greatest stock of bananas I ever seen in a private garage.

Empty boxes for the iconic banana box test. He was eating bananas for weeks.... 😃
Bjorn, where would you put skis for this car?
@bjornnyland Hi, you previously did a nice acceleration test on a different SoC (90-10 %). The Volvo EX30 stood out from the crowd as worse. That is why EX30 should be tested in more detail, i.e. also the effect of cold. In your test, the battery was warm from many accelerations and battery discharge. We in Finland would like to know how the EX30 accelerates by SoC 20-40% 5 minutes after starting with a cold battery. Like the first freeway ramp.
It is a little snug inside for me but I still love the design. Thanks Bjorn.
What about keep climate on? Is it good for pets/camping? I.e. are there any stupid time limits as in the previous xc40recharge

@bjornnyland thats is excellent. Volvo has finally joined Tesla in offering useful dog mode! Thanks for sharing and commenting.
Tack🙏🌹
I would really like to see a direct comparison of the EX30 and its sibling Smart #1. From what I have seen so far, they cost around the same and the smart seems to have higher quality materials inside and more room in the back, while in the Volvo they tried to cut costs on many locations. For me, the only thing that may be better in the Volvo is the Android Automotive Headunit, and some might prefer the design of the Volvo, but the Smart seems to be much better value for the money.
@Kedde1x

Smart #1 only has more space in the back if you put the seats back - but then it comes at the cost of less trunk space than in EX30. If you put the seats in a position that gives you the same trunk space, the back seat space is even a bit smaller.
@UgglemannenFTW

Dont forget the zeekr x another sibling.
even that mobile socket is tight, if you accellerate full in AWD mode the phone is dropping off the socket. it is that powerful Gforce.
I like it.
Almost flat floor in the passenger row? Not totally flat?
They would have liked to get rid of the beep on the tailgate, now this will come to all future model programs, I understand
If you read the thumbnail text as "fits a small boy" 😅😅
Isn't the interior space of the EX30 actually very poor when you compare it to an almost same length car like the MG4? In your MG4 review (blue car in Thailand) you was able to put the same stroller lying flat in the boot. Also the MG4 had much better rear passenger space/legroom with a more normal length rear bench/seat. 6:11 I wonder if Volvo shortened the rear bench on the EX30 to give it the illusion of more rear space and a bigger footwell? If so that's kind of sneaky. Also if the EX30 had normal length rear seat bases you might not of been able to fit banana boxes in the footwell.
This car has quite a few shortcomings after all: no rear center console, no mirror lights, no rear display etc

I don't think any of those apart from the mirror lights are a deal breaker. At least it has stalks!

The more I see and use other car's steering wheel controls, the more I appreciate my Classic Ioniq's.
Maybe they don't have tall people in Sweden 😅
that's a lot of bananas!
The screen stuff is an absolute deal breaker
@gantenbeinable
Ай бұрын
It's from google.
Rear space is very limited.
Putting everything into one screen goes a bit against a Volvo USP: safety. A submenu for temperature and fog lights is not great.
I love all your content but sometimes wish you would give your consumption figures in miles as well for us little UK watchers 😢 I am struggling to see what the average Mi/kwh is for the EX30
@sargfowler9603
Ай бұрын
Bjorns previous video gave a breakdown of efficieny. The EX30 is around 294Wh per km at 90kph in winter. So expect a range of 218km (136 miles) with a 64Kwh battery.
Calling the EX30 a chinese car is just misunderstood, yes the car is assembled in china, but mostly everythng else is developed by Volvo in Sweden And by 2025 Volvo will expand it's production to Belgium to meet demand, does that then make it a Belgium car. ?!?!
And still the space in the Volvo EX30 made me decide to choose the Tesla M3 Highland in stead.
I test drive ex30 twin motor, and when I flat the acceleration, my cellphone that was on wireless charging fly to the back seat....😢

You need to push it down in to the holder Bjorn mentions. Stays in place then for any kind of launch.
❤❤❤
Who asks such specific questions like "does it fit a small male body?"
I think the EX30 is a big bummer. Too small, noisy, inefficiënt and not cheap.
This car is good ideas / bad execution.
So it has no space for 2nd row passengers (and if they're small enough to fit, it's not comfortable), it's lacking any driver's display and when you use the main screen to see your speed, the computer will ping you that you're distracted, the steering wheel is of an abominable shape and features buttons that look and act like bad children's toys (we've seen you try and set the cruise control speed) - I can't fathom how anyone chooses this instead of smart's sister models, really, unless for the "but it's a Volvo" crowd. (Granted, I'm leaving out the wonderful speed of the user interface, but it's complicated in unnecessary ways, too, let's not talk about how many taps it requires to find trip information for example.)

You can disable driver alert and use the steering wheel hot key to map it to that. Apparently Volvo is already updating the steering wheel buttons in the new MY25 that is being produced as of may and I hope they replace them for the existing models. I understand the points you mention and the space concerns & software inconsistency are valid but i think most of the negatives on these reviews are exaggerated points. I will pick up my test vehicle next week, maybe it’ll already be updated w the latest software and see if I personally find them as much of a deal breaker than the other people on KZread do.
Saw one in a car park yesterday. It is not small.

It is probably half as much, and probably the idea is to tidy up the space and keep the driver’s dirty little hands away from what is underneath.
@clasqm

It prevents you from seeing how much empty space there is that could have been frunk space!
The car is designed and engineered in Sweden and is manufactured in China. Doesn’t make it more Chinese than your phone.
