    I'm in awe at the lack of signalized intersections during your cruise. If only we built our cities with traffic circles from the start, our fuel consumption would be about a third less compared to the sea of signalized intersections we have in the USA. My state has maybe 4 traffic circles in the entire state. It's insane the amount of congestion we have during rush hours. Though we unfortunately could never convert all our intersections to circles. The amount of buildings that would have to be torn down to make room for circles would be in the hundred of billions to compensate.

    I see 2 scenarios for buying this car. Either to keep it as a garage princess, hoping it will go up in price in 50 years 😅 or buy it for the dicounted price and use it to its death, with hopes of its hardware lasting as long as possible. The resale value will plummet so I don't think buying for short term makes sense, even with discounted price. But, getting a big comfortable car and a very big battery for 40k is not such a bad deal, as long as the car is usable and one can compromise a bit in software experience etc. With some luck, Fisker might also deliver updates and improve the experience somewhat. Overall, I agree with Bjørn, it's not such a bad car and with the heaviness and influence that Marques' voice has, the message he conveyed came out a bit too critical, in my opinion. Of course I trust Bjørn's opinion more on this topic. But being a viewer/consumer of both of them, I can say that my impression of the car was pretty much as Bjorn presented it here, after having watched Marques' review. I got an objective look at the car and its features and drawn my own conclusion so I think it's subjective how people receive the message as well. Then again, most people will probably take Marques' message word for word and further downplay Fisker as the worst car manufacturer ever, even though this is clearly not the case.

    Provided that Fisker stays afloat and they continue to provide software updates to fix the bugs and add missing functionality, then yes, getting this car now at its discounted rate is a really good deal. The hardware and build quality seems pretty good. It just needs some better software.

  • @jaker3151

    So the Fisker Ocean is reasonably well built and it drives reasonably well. However the software is very buggy but that can potentially be fixed over time with software updates, if the company survives. I hope Fisker can find a way to survive as more choice is good for the consumer, especially with the inevitable influx of Chinese EVs that will be coming in.

    I wish I could record on my phone and show you at the same time time how my Bluetooth says connected but when I hit play on my phone, music plays on only the phone yet says connected. And you can’t hit play on the car either as it’s grayed out. That’s a constant issue for me unfortunately. Says connect but no music on my Apple iPhone 12 Pro. Spotify and others work perfect. Also, my car number for my ocean disappeared at 1.11 and hasn’t comeback even with 2.0. Software when I click it shows error 404 if I try to read the notes. Wondering if being sequence 1808 they had different computers? Yours does seem snappy. Not sure how to DM on KZread but happy to show videos of mine. Definitely not the same experience. Love the car but very very glitchy every day. I’ve also been in hill hold mode in traffic or a long drive through line and it goes into park without me realizing it. The Bluetooth is the most annoying thing and having to click the key fob and wait even with a new battery and it “says” I have 2.0 and have had it for at least 3 weeks for more without improvement. I have seen people with 2 1/2 so maybe I didn’t get the full update?

    That estimation seems not formulated by accumulated road travel. The Fiskers' software estimations are based on the best-case scenario from a constant formula programmed in the software, without variables. It should have a "learning" formula to adjust the consumption based on past trips, in both settings of the actual trip and since zero, which has not.

    But who would take the responsibility that everything works as it should? Sorry, as a Fisker Ocean owner, I don’t want to rely on that some guy programming the adaptive cruise control in his spare time. I doubt that this can be homologated and any insurance company will pay if you have an accident due to some non-manufacturer software you are running on your car. This could work, if a company takes over the development, responsibility and approval processes. Sounds like this could turn out to be expensive for the owners.

    Likely the only software they can release source for is the Android-based infotainment software. Sourcse for the various vehicle components can likely not be given out. Even with the source for the infotainment there's a potential it wouldn't be possible to update because it relies on cryptographically signing the software, granted there's a remote chance that it could be jailbroken so the source would be useful but it's unlikely Fisker is in any position to make that work and they shouldn't release any of their own private keys to allow it. And yeah then there's a potential of who's responsible in terms of software if it's some random person suddenly upgrading it, even though they likely won't be able to make changes to the underlying control units (and hence probably not fix the critical shortcomings like missing ACC) but if they could who takes on responsibility for that?

    Knowing how I am about computers and the type of work I do, having this many faults in the software would steer me away from buying this as it sits now. Not to mention, I am not the only one that will need to drive it from time to time. Bjørn, MKBHD´s car reviews on his channel "Auto Focus" are meant to be this "kind" of reviews. He intentionally uses just a an iPhone to film his reviews there, so sound, image quality and camera angles aren´t perfect. I don´t remember the exact reason why he uses just a phone camera to film them but i think it has to do with easiness to film them completely alone in stead of needing a 40k red camera and maybe a camera crew to film his videos.

    The problem with the Fisker Ocean is too great a focus on styling and frivolous features, and not enough emphasis on good engineering and solid design development work. Combined with poor financial, marketing and industrial acumen its not so strange that the company is struggling and at the brink of financial collapse. To buy this car even at its present price point is far to high a risk for most people considering future parts availability, warranty claims and available service personnel.

  • @rcguygarage
    @rcguygarageАй бұрын

    18:10 there needs to be a warranty limit with the boost launches on the drivetrain as a whole. If you FULL THROTTLE any car from a dead stop FISKER was smart to put a VISUAL for those that just don't get it. You definitely understand that. 👍💯👊
