Volvo 850 Restoration - Front & Rear Seat Removal And Really Nasty Interior!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

As our Volvo 850 project continues we wanted to inform you on what is on our to do list, show you the process of removing the front and rear seats and start with some much needed cleaning (we found really nasty stuff in the car). Unfortunately, as so often with older cars, it’s one step forward and two steps back. This was the case for us as well as we didn’t get to the cleaning part yet because an problem returned we thought we already dealt with… More rust…

- Project’s Background Story -
On February 21 ’09 our dad bought this ’96 Volvo 850 2.5L 20V estate. The Volvo has a big emotional value for us and seeing the car sitting still for so many years and watching nature taking over broke our hearts. After nine years, and sitting outside for 7 of those 9 years, we finally got our hands on the 850 and brought it back to its home where we will restore it to its former glory. Once we finish the restoration, we intend to make a road trip and keep in the family for many more years to come!
- General Information -
We intend to document the whole restoration for ourselves, for people close to us and anyone interested in restoring cars or specifically a Volvo 850.

I heard that the hose which releases the air from the oil system valve can cause issues.

Don't forget to replace the heater core, the radiator and the coupling on the firewall. I'm sure they're all weak / deteriorated plastic by now.

I daily drive a 97 850, and I am happy to see you guys restoring this one. They are rock solid cars, and mine drives great better than my newer cars. I wish I could find one in the junk yard near me for interior parts, as the plastics crack with old age. Good luck, and are you pulling seats from another 850? I guess there are many more available to you, as I couldn't find a good set of seats.

Awesome! Lovely cars indeed, and thanks! This 850 has a big emotional value to us so she'll get all the love she needs😊 We also have a bunch of broken plastic parts and we'll replace them along with the seats. Luckily interior parts and seats in good condition are plenty available over here. Best of luck to you in finding a good set of seats!

That interior is disgusting. Wonder if you’ll find more surprises if you remove all the carpeting.
