Detailing an ABANDONED Volvo 850R Left In The Woods For Over 5 Years!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a Volvo 850R getting its first wash in 5 years after being left in the woods abandoned. My good friend Pete at The Fix Autoworks in Doylestown PA wants to restore this classic Volvo Sports Sedan. The white paint is extremely oxidized and dirt has settled into every nook and crevice. After a thorough detail on location, we present the Volvo to Pete to work his wrench magic to get it back on the road. Enjoy the detail on this episode of Drive + Protect - L

But then a polar white sedan like this one popped up near me on Wednesday and I bought yesterday for only $1600! To be fair that era of Volvos is very easy to diagnose and work on ONCE you know what you’re doing, I got into it blind and it cost me far too much money and time to find out all the car needed was an inlet manifold gasket. They’re some very special bits of engineering, once you know what they need and how to work them, fixing them is very very easy, it’s all built extremely well and there’s usually lots of room to work in the engine bays, the one remarkable thing is that I’ve never ever ever known of a car that old as mine where the bolts and nuts come off with such ease, it’s almost as if they were built a week ago. Special bits of kit.

Thats so true. Watched a lot of vids about the thermostate housing, and how often the bolts are fucked up. I just thought let's see and took the 30 year old bolds out with such ease. Was kinda blown away. @@The_Stronzo

@@-R4- Those torx machine screws Volvo used for the thermostat housing are TYPICALLY messed up. They're hard to get to without the right (and it's cheap) tool, which means the teeth in the soft head are usually rounded off, and usually the long threads are galled in place. If they come out easily, it's amazing.

Amazing job it looks incredible. I had a 1995 T5 wagon here in the UK must be nearly a decade ago now hearing that engine on boost brings back memories I loved that car, mine was red but that white looks so good. Recognise that engine tone immediately. 5 cylinder turbocharged goodness!

Excellent video. Reminded me of my old next-door neighbor (RIP) back in the day had leased a few Volvos including a purple 850 GLT and his wife had a red 940 Turbo. Then after turning-in the purple GLT he had that yellow 850 T-5R sedan complete with the five flat-spoke wheels and manual (!) gearbox, and I don’t think I’ve seen another like it since.

The 850R is an awesome car, it was my dream car back in the days. The wheels originally on this white Volvo are the 16” Turbo rims, and are also super cool. The later V70R had even cooler and super clean 5-spoke wheels.

That is very awesome, my first car ever was an 85 240 sedan white like the one off to the side in the video. I wanted the 850 T5R so bad in 96 I think. I went to the dealer almost every week and literally stared at the bright yellow 850 in the show room. Never got one,but did end up getting myself a S70 sedan later in life. It was used but man did I love that car.

Larry, you have no idea the effect you have on your viewers. As I watched your techniques I implemented them to my details, and people always asked how I keep my car so clean and why it’s so easy to keep and maintain it in an hour or two weekly maintenance wash. I’m now a small business owner myself, and you guessed it, detailing cars. Funny how the world works too, as I use AMMO products on clients cars, which is why I even have the business in the first place. You can add dream maker to your resume. And I’m eternally grateful for that.

I am studying to become a car painter. This week we were working on Volvo 850 gl from 1996, this car had only 1 owner over all this years and is in surprisingly good condition (considering it had it's life in Estonia with wet snow and salt on roads), only right front wing had a bit of rusty problem.
