Ойын-сауық

Let's use Ch.Svr to investigate how control voltage operates, both what it does and how it flows within the system.

This video strikes the perfect balance between explaining key concepts in synthesis in a way that beginners can understand while also offering useful thoughts and ways of thinking in way that can enrich the experiences of people who have been noodling for some time. Great work!

This is such a great video. I have always felt that the maxim “you can never have too many VCAs” should really be “you can never have too many attenuverting mixers with offsets”.

I got so many new ideas thanks to this video. It's funny that Channel Saver is helping to make use of Maths channels 2 and 3 simply because you often forget about them, while it's unlikely to forget about a dedicated module like Channel Saver. I never realized EV's mix works as an offset when there's something patched so you can actually sculpt the reverb tail. This made me realize I almost never patched anything in any 'mix' CV/pot. Also, I never patched the DPO left side into DPO's right side shape, fold, etc. A new universe is emerging. I love the simplicity of PrssPnt while adding so much to play with. If there's a God, bless you. If not, bless you anyway.

Glad to hear that this is useful even to a seasoned synthesist like yourself! These core concepts can easily start to fall through the cracks when we start to pile on various impressive sound sources and effects, but guiding your control voltage in a meaningful, purposeful way can unlock even the simplest patch and let it shine. One quick note of clarity: the Erbe-Verb mix works as an offset when there is NOT anything patched. It can be fun to hit Mix with an envelope generator like you would a VCA/LPG, or also to sequence it with a separate sequencer channel from whatever you're sequencing your voice with :)

@@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC Thanks for the clarification, indeed I meant a VCA with an offset. I am going to make sure to get it right when I am going to make use of it in a video. 2xPP and 1 CS in the mail :).

Any sound source going into the DPO angle CV input is so audible that I sometimes use DPO as a sort of a distortion effect by setting the frequency to almost sub-audio levels and the fold on the brink of silence. Maybe something new for you to try with the modulation options on channel B :)

Such a thorough and fascinating explanation of one of the basics. Learned a lot! I would love more discussions like this about basic utilities, more on Maths maybe, you do such a great job of explaining them and then showing great examples. Don’t mean to sound greedy, but yeah, more please!

I love how subtle the “most of our modules already come with those knobs.” insert was. Fantastic way to advertise a product designed to make other module makers products work better! I almost want a channel saver, even though I don’t need one!

I really enjoyed this workshop. Along with the synth wizardry I think it’s cool that 12 o’clock on an attenuator is called “noon” and its bi-polar 12 counterpart “midnight”. Is that accurate? “South of Midnight” is a great name for a Make Noise compilation devoted to MATHS⚡️⚡️🙂 Thanks for another sweet video!!

My friend Meg Mulhearn came up with the idea of saying “midnight” instead of noon. I’ve tried to just always use it ever since 🌃

This was a helpful refresher course for me. Will have to pick up a Ch.Svr for my rack. Until then, it is nice to remember that I have this capability in my Maths. Thanks for making great synth gear, and content for KZread. I appreciate you man ☮
