VOLTA - Blender Short
Фильм және анимация
"VOLTA"
It's finally done, ever since finishing my earlier short film The Drink, I've started numerous projects that I never finished. I began going down the rabbit hole of loosing motivation. In that mix, VOLTA was born. VOLTA is a personal project I've been working on a little here and there for the past 5 months and as I've been focusing more on school and personal life I started thinking I'd never be done with it. I also felt the pressure to always do better and for it to be perfect so I ended up taking a long break from Blender, it was great and gave me a lot of time to think and improve. A couple of days ago I decided to finish the project.
My inspiration is of course Ash Thorp and Colorsponge and I wanted to continue what they started with their Evinetta short film but create something new. If you haven't looked at their work yet you definitely should.
The goal I had in the beginning of the project was the feeling of a constant flow of ideas and complexity, like you're missing out. I really have paid attention to every frame and put a lot of concentrated effort into this 1.5 minute long piece. Please enjoy it on max brightness and good audio.
Thanks to all my patreons who have been supporting me even though I haven't been active, it means the world :)There might be some VOLTA assets coming up there soon...

thought this was a comment from a hater for a second was getting ready to cook them until I realised. Don't worry about the spelling mistake it doesn't take away from your effort. Plus Berlietta sounds cooler kind of like "Ray Liotta"

This was massively impressive and entertaining. You're not only a gifted 3D artist, but a really talented art director and editor. The snappy pacing of this was a nice surprise!

I love how the quick cuts, the pacing, and the framing of the shots have an EMOTIONAL IMPACT: you cannot fully grasp what you see (like when a car goes by fast), adds mystery, intensity, anticipation, sense of wonder...

William, never ever stop creating. If I had 1/10th of your skills when I was 15, I’d be George Lucas at 25 and in all the halls of fame now at 35. You don’t need school. What you are able to create put you in the 1% of the 1% of the 1%. It’s extremely rare and I have only seen it a few times during my entire life. So never ever stop creating. What you need is a good mentor.
Dudeee! Starting from lego renders to this in just two years is absolutely mental! Keep it up man.......cant get enough of this!
Okay, take it from an industry veteran - you are ridiculously talented. Given your age - you are going to be an all-time great if you keep at it. I don't think 3d is end of the line for you, you will be directing videos in no time.
Having long breaks is absolutely needed as an artist. To release pressure, do the point with yourself, and allow you to breathe. And can feel that in the whole quality of the short. Congrats boy it's a masterpiece !

Insanity. You're blend of design with 3d is probably some of the craziest I've ever seen.
The effects, the edit, the art direction, the shot selection, the sound design, the entire thing is just absolutely masterclass. I would pay a lot of money to watch you make this...a lot
Bro, i come back to watch this video every now and then, its sooo perfect! Every scene is so perfectly cut cause you just want to see more! genius execution, truly!
Wow. You didn't just mastered blender. You show here some awesome idea, visual storytelling, art direction, photography, editing, sound design. You are amazing. I can't believe you are so young. Wish you all the best.
I think everyone has already commented on the visual aspects which are stunning so I'd just like to give a big thumbs up for the sound design. Really great work on that too, adds so much to the drama without being to intrusive or overpowering. Bravo sir!
bro the sound design is just on spot, no kiddin
I can feel the break you took, I took one 1 year ago to retain my trait of thought and it helped me so much with artistic capabilities. I also appreciate the caustic rays you put in the scene. You started the same time as me when I was 11, at which now I'm 14, and I can say I love the work you do. You are a testament to what people: anyone: can do and I love you for that same reason, rest well Will, rest well and get back up again to show what greatness you bring to this world!!!! 🙏
Magnificent
Dude... You're insane! Something of this quality takes a lifetime of experience and artistic sense. Fantastic work and I can't wait to see what more come from that crazy ass brain!!
This is how a supercar should look like! Forget all the modern tacky and over-complicated design trends, we need wedgeshape and clean lines!
this is not a question of blender, this is a question of photographic point of view...gorgeous
This is so good William. Learning the ins and outs of computer graphics like Blender, After Effects, Photoshop in just 18 month is already an incredible achievement but developing good style at that same pace is truly something special. I´d argue that most artists with 10+ years of experience would struggle to create something like this (style-wise, not technically). I hoped you don't get bored soon :-).
Phenomenal man The gritty aesthetic was just mind blowing The stormy, rough, chill, enticing vibe is just awesome
The editing alone was an amazing feat. Blown away by the whole project.
not only are the visuals stunning but the sound design is on point too
Amazing, I hope one day ads will be atleast 1% as cool as this one
The water reflections remind me of blade runner 2049. Great concept!
You continue to inspire myself and so many others to create using blender. What an amazing piece of art.
The quick cuts... The transitions.. The lighting.. The animation... Super dope.. Wow
this is freakin insane! love the overlays with the 2d experiments you have been making, super unique!

man, I'm in advertising and I have to say youu have done something truly unique here, you've made the ad of the future... with almost half a million views I wonder how many creative's minds you have inspired, bravo!
The fact that this is made by a 15 year old makes me think we’re looking at an actual genius. Also these renders look so realistic for blender, is this really cycles or are you using a different render engine?
О, наконец-то! Новая Волга от советского автопрома) Oh, finally! New Volga by soviet engineers)
Absolutely astonishing how beautifully done this is. Hats off William. You truly keep showing how amazing not only your skills are in Blender, but your cinematography and creative direction are to my opinion of the highest level. Can't wait to see more.
So exquisite! I love everything about it. The cutting, the overlays, the sound design, the post effects / grain… and yes, the 3D design. Top notch work.
Hey William! The sound design of this short is beyond excellent. Do you mind doing a short breakdown of what's gone into it? It's really cool and needs more praise in my opinion
I think the sound design is getting too little recognition. I really love it! And it really compliments the visuals great!
When I first saw your stuff a couple of years ago I thought that you were a Blender genius, now I see you've diversified into becoming a genius on art direction and filmaking aswell.
Absolutely incredible and beautiful film and two or three year progression! Thank you!
the fact that 16 year old did this makes it even more insane Hope you gonna work on big and insane projects one day :D Keep up the insane work When I was 14 i started playing with video games and video editing. How time passed people made better movie tools, games got better graphics etc. Anyway played a lot with video games, movie tools and video editing. Spent countless hours on it. Started with COD, and later I have been using GTA movie mode and newer NFS games with movie tools. Had a lot of fun with it and learnt a lot of stuff. Now, 10 years later I gave up on all IT stuff I have learned on college and I am currently collecting money for video equipment to start earning money with it. So from a kid who played games and did video edits to a guy who can give up on coding and IT stuff to make videos.
I hope i will reach your level one day, your style, your creation are amazing, GG Bro 🔥
Have you no shame. Now I have to kill half my day soaking every frame of this glory
This is one of the most beautiful work I have seen this year. Congrats.
There are many people who can do the different technical aspects of this, such as modelling lighting editing etc... But there aren't many people who can bring all those skills together in such an outstandingly creative way. Amazing work. William. :)
I've been waiting on this for a while, looks awesome!
The amount of hours, dedication, and thought that went into this is nothing short of extraordinary. Keep doing what you do champ.
This is an absolute MASTERPIECE
Holy crap! That editing is incredible! And also everything else 😀
WOW The 3D was obviously really impressive but man the planning and editing was so good Definitely one of the most unique blender projects I've seen
I love your dedication William! I can feel it from your work ! Big respect
William - you are an inspiration to all. Just, on so many levels. Congrats and look forward to see your next big hit.
This is already your second project inspired by Ash Thorp, i just find pity you still didnt chose to carve your own unique path..your own themes, you definetly have the skills and creative mind to do so though.. something which should be praised is how you can solo handle this in 5 months that is impressive, great job!

I checked Ash Thorb and I like this right here more tbh… :/ not biased I wanted to see more of this style, Ash Thorbs just didn’t hit the same spot for me. I am pretty sure a project like this automatically becomes personal and individual when you work motivated by personal drive as an artist. Personality will fuse into these compositions by who ever made them no matter what - since this is on a quite high artistic complex level. Guess everyone has different kind of taste. Inspiration should also not be pitied. I’m sure Ash Thorb has their own idols as-well. We all have and thats how evolution happens.
