I've been watching vids of actual Japanese powerhouse highschools preparing for nationals, and one setter (one of the stars of the previous year's competition) was practicing back tosses and one hand tosses into something like a basketball hoop. And the kid barely missed. Those powerhouse players are no joke man.

This is super fun, i feel like it's making volley ball more accessible to us clumsy people by showing that folks need to goof around and miss before they nail a particular play. Chrissy is such a great setter for keeping up with the anime impossibility that is Kageyama!

A little earlier. When trying out the minus tempo "floaty people" are the best spikers. They have to be in the air before the set even comes in and stay for at least a second until the set reaches. For the setter, someone who can set in a linear path. Forget about curving the ball, just straight up send it in a projectile path to the spike point. But yeah, it really comes down to trust

I smiled so hard watching this, it was really fun! Everyone was great but it was especially cool watching Chrissy do her thing, her movements are so clean. Enjoyed the pronunciation of ‘BEE-DJOH’ (sounds Filipino hahaha) and the breakfast food after!
I've been loving all the recreation videos and this is no exception! One thing I would absolutely love to know though is whether or not the people you're with have also seen the show and are familiar with it or if you just showed them the clip of what you're trying to recreate beforehand and that's what they're going off of. Like, I know the show has had a big effect on the popularity of the sport overall and brought in a lot of new people, but I want to know how many people who were already hardcore volleyballers before it have seen it too. Just how deeply has it permeated the volleyball culture for those who were already involved? Those things would be really cool to know. Plus, if there are players who aren't already aware / haven't already seen it, you could show it to them and spread it even more! Maybe even host a Haikyuu viewing party after a game or tournament? Players from all the teams gathered up and just hooting and hollering at Karasuno vs Seijoh would be so cool to see 😃
I love this video!!! It's so cool to watch actual players bring all these techniques to live! You are all so skilled, it was amazing to see you play! And your food looked so delicious, I just wanted to steal your plates😅

The setter is absolutely amazing 😲🫣
I'm really impressed by the skill of everyone in this video! The fact that you could match very close to the movements of the anime, was so cool:-D Things like that make me appreciate this sport a lot! The setter was amazin too lmaoo

Amazing! The excitement I felt when you nailed it.
The second and the third exercise are doing easier if u use beach volleyball stuff like a front jump, which gives you more space in the air to work with the ball.
Man this is so good. Kudos to you for hitting those
Great footage. Can you do another video with the jump set quicks? like the miyas and oikawas. The standing set slows the tempo a fair bit and the hitting point drops faster because of the lower release

minus temp is possible if your jumping is much higher than the net, because u have a lot of time flying, so lower the net by 10-15 cm
You guys didn't do minus tempo, it was all first tempo. Overall it was amazing
editing hella smooth
This is so cool. Great job in doing the techniques in the anime in real life!!! Great idea, Cannot wait for more!!!
Just attempting them looks like a killer workout. You all did great though!
Great video!
Cool vibe!! Hi from Brazil!!!!
For the second technique you could improve your speed by landing on your right foot and bracing the impact like a spring then dashing off it. Hard to explain without a visual. But basically just land and let your right leg bend and load like a spring instead of stopping with both feet then moving only one
The last one was SPOT ON! Way to go
Hey Coach, great vid. Do you think in the future, we are going to see the new generation of players coming up use these techniques like more slide hits and the minus tempo attacks? Since haikyuu is super popular
This was so cool!
AYYYYEER I love thissss🔥🔥🔥
Her sets are PERFECT!
For the minus tempo a tip i do when i practice it at school with my mate is, as soon as you receive the ball imidiatly start your run up. Another tip is start with doing a set receive.
i literally came here after watching s1 of Haikyuu!, my love for volley ball increased!
The dude perfect of volleyball, love it
Please do a analysis on ishikawa & nishida arm swing technique...as I have noticed they don't use zues form method. They have low elbow...fully loaded...some kind of circular motion...
Oh my... Her sets are so cleannnn. I'll work harder and smarter to master my setting and spiking skills🔥🔥🔥🔥
I saw a comment about oikawa's techniques and i am kinda interested to see you guys try to do oikawa's serve ^^ and some of his sets
Next you should try mad dog’s techniques like the spike while running parallel to the net
havent played / watched much high level volleyball but played a lot w friends and stuff and holy shit that setter is insane
He definitely has the amount of satisfying oomph behind his hits as hinata!😆 truly amazing!
You guy need more speed in your approach before you spike. Also before she sets the ball to you quick wait till after you hit your highest point in the jump then when you fell like your falling then spike then she’ll set the ball to you. Also try a back attack first so you can spike faster and don’t have to worry about hitting the net

I know. The only way a person can do a minus tempo is if bother their timing are in sync. If a spider wants to do a minus tempo he has to time his approach with not only the setter but also the ball. Not to mention the setter has to figure out the spikes exact spiking speed and we able to set the ball by being able to control how fast he sets the ball to him perfectly.
@AxelVb

@@andresgaribay8978 no as in the setter would have to set the ball at over 100kmoh
that first trick is commonly used in mizoram and is called short push, thats the most dangerous point scoring set ever
Really cool video, just a question isn’t minus tempo where you are already meant to be in the air before the setter sets I feel like it’s 1st tempo
I think it would cool if you tried one of the setters. Some of Kageyama sets probably aren't even physically possible but I think Oikawa does some fun moves
@narnianninja4964
Жыл бұрын
Like that one time he was chasing a ball that was passed way out on the right and he back sets it across the entire court perfectly for Kindaichi
the thing is on the second technique they are trying to match the setter so they are loosing a lot of speed but if they tried just run and jump at max speed it could have worked out
not to nitpick, but i think the spike at 1:50 technically isn't a minus tempo because you can see that the ball has actually left the setters hands before you left the ground, so it would technically be just a very fast 1st tempo still super impressive though
@viveknamikaze761
Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Minus tempo needs you to have a pretty high hang time and a very accurate set going straight through the spike point. It was very close though.
Oh and Hinata when he dived then setted it it was durning a partice and he was hitting the ball back to (forgot how to spell his name but he’s my PFP) the he ran to spike it might be on episode 3
She’s an amazing setter wow
I've just seen first tempo, not minus, but understand it's almost impossible to do it. Nice video!
The prompt that helped me learn the first technique: my coach said " try to be too early"
The setter is so good.
This video was great
can you try and do tendo's or tsukishima's blocking techniques?
What a setter! She s incredible
I feel like, even though they did a good job, many of these sets are quite common if you play middle, you really have to optimise how many steps you actually get in to your approach (less = better)
That was awesome
Yeah, you never actually did a minus tempo because you were clearly still on the ground when the setter set the ball. It was totally doable. You just needed to have someone else receive/pass the ball because Hinata has never passed a ball that he’s then hit, you know with him being a MB and all.

Ok im about to do an umm actually but for it to be minus tempo the spiker has to be on the air before the setter touches the ball so yeah, its very hard to do, cool vod tho enjoyed it a bunch

Man those are some nice sets
I only came to volleyball after watching Haikyuu so I never realized how stupidly difficult and unusual these techniques are

A cool idea would be to do bokuto techniques, like a cross spike, line spike etc
You can try some voleyball attack from the old Attack no 5 anime 😇
Here in our place, you can oftenly see that type of quick sets
I mean the duo quick seems to be just an 3 to the outside/oppo so it could be useful in game, but at that point just set the middle a 3 lol. I guess the only benefit is how unexpected it is for someone to do that.
