    Funny thing to note, when the guys are doing their little poses to support Yamaguchi before he serves, most of them are holding up one finger, encouraging him to just get the next point. However, Hinata is holding up all 5 fingers, encouraging him to go for more.

    I actually love the little conversation at the beginning when Yamaguchi comes in because it tells us a little more about Hinata. Hinata says "Get 10 points!", Yamaguchi says "That would end the game." and then Hinata replies "I would forgive you." Hinata just wants to stay on the court and keep playing, that's also why he doesn't want to win simply for the sake of winning, he wants to win because if they win they get to play another game. If they win they get to play more volleyball. That's the ultimate motivation for Hinata and also Kageyama.

    @bbittercoffee

    I think it's because he had such a great control that having three people could actually make them get confused and it was better to leave Asahi and the others to try and end his serving as fast as possible by scoring a spike But right now, he's exchanging control for even more power, so they can't have that much of the court open so they changed back to 3 people receive.

    Also note that the reason they did that was the teams overall low quality of receives. They used the only two who could receive it back then as a hail mary. Now the team has progressed alot with their basic skills so that more players are able to contribute im serve-receives. Thats why Ukai mentioned the serves of Fukurodani and Ubugawa where all the players got valuable experience receiving har serves. Overall this episode is sooooo good!

    11:07 Ya-ma-gu-chi. Rule. The. Court. My most favorite part of rereading and rewatching Haikyuu is catching the poetry of how Furudate-sensei uses the banners of each school in specific moments. In this scene, Seijoh's banner which is behind Yamaguchi says "Rule the Court" and I get its probably a coincidence but as an artist, at this moment, I felt my heart shout because Yamaguchi really did do it. 28:17 They do this because Oikawa sees which receiver is the less skilled and consistently exploit that by serving really hard hits towards them to take control of the match. Daichi and Nishinoya are skilled and fast enough to cover a larger area, so they make up for it, so they risk less by having 2 good receivers rather than 3 when 1 of them is an easy target... At least, that's what they thought until the serve that followed. But Daichi and Nishinoya were still underestimating Oikawa's serve (which changed since their first encounter) and, perhaps, even overestimating their own skill a little bit... That's when they asked Asahi to join in.

  • @Intersectingstuff

    @Intersectingstuff

    3 жыл бұрын

    Lol they are not overestimating themselves. They are just using the old strategy from season 1. But then they see that Oikawa serve in this season are different (focus on power instead of control, so he doesn't really target anyone now) thus why they needed different strategy by adding Asahi to the receiving squad Edit: cmiiw but it's aligned with what coach always say - the team that makes the last adjustment wins. Oikawa has perfected his adjustment in second set, and Karasuno has just made this adjustment going to the 3rd set😏

    Oikawa's ramping up his power in exchange for some of his control. In their prior matches, Oikawa hit hard, but he also rarely missed where he was aiming at. In this match however, Oikawa's missed several serves especially in the first set because he's trying to serve as hard as he can. Now that he's on a roll and not missing anymore, Daichi and Nishinoya realize they can't cover the serve by themselves.

    For Karasuno's 2 man receiving formation, they've been using it since last match because Oikawa will do a pinpoint serve on whoever he thinks he can score on him. So they rather let Nishinoya and Daichi do the job. At that moment Asahi had quit volleyball for a while and Tanaka's still a second year that he's not a good passer as Daichi and Nishinoya. But for this match, Oikawa is more focus on power instead of the aim, and since Karasuno had improved their basic plays such as passing thru the training camp, they decided to let Asahi joined the passing formation as well

Now that they have Oikawa serving stronger than ever they have to adjust back to having 3 recievers.

    Hey Coach ! A small fact about the opening : -The tittle is Fly High, the first words are "Tobe ! Fly High !" - "Tobe" is the neutral imperative form of the verbe "Tobu". "Tobu" means "to jump, to fly (in the sky)" A very fitting set of words for our bunch of baby crows

    That rotation of Yamaguchi is one of the smoothest camera moves in this series and it gave me chills. I couldn't stop smiling and it made me think of James Baxter (guy who does great camera rotations). Actually Yamaguchi has a lot of these high quality animation moments and I think that's such a great idea. Like everytime Yamagucci is out the audience will anticipate something awesome (even if it's his failure or his fears).

    About Japanese volleyball players being fine about getting compared to Haikyuu, it mostly comes from the fact that Haikyuu became such a great promotion for the sport. It caused a great boom in high school volleyball (a large increase in students joining volleyball clubs all over Japan) and also attracted a lot of attention to professional volleyball (a great increase in viewership/ audience attendance for matches) especially men's volleyball. Nishida has mentioned on several occasions that he's so thankful for how Haikyuu made so many people love volleyball, which he says is one of his goals in playing. Also, the high school boom brought in a lot of great young talent, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it helped push Japanese volleyball to greater heights. Lastly, they love the fact that Haikyuu is super relatable. Yanagida has said that he loves how the Spring Tournament was portrayed very realistically and that the experiences the characters had were all very familiar and real, and that anyone who had experienced joining those competitions could probably relate to the story a lot.

    I now understand why coach Donny is such a good haikyuu commentarist/reviewer/reactor: it's because not only he's good on noticing the volleyball details and making interesting commentary that shows us fans of the anime an extra layer of awesomeness the anime has, but he also has an understanding on animation as well, which also makes us fans appreciate a piece of art that Haikyuu is!! This comboes with who you are coach, making you unique!! That's what I think at least and why I love watching your reactions to Haikyuu!! Thank you so much for this work \o/ We love it :D

    The way how coach Donny keep explaining all the details once from a sporty perspective and once from a perspective as an art teacher makes those reaction videos PERFECT
