Pinch server is one of the most difficult, high-pressure roles in volleyball. Yamaguchi deserves a lot of respect, his job is literally to play at 100% in critical moments. he only started playing that role when he joined Karasuno so him messing up in the beginning and letting the pressure get to him is completely understandable. but now... y'all better put some RESPEC on the boy's name hahaaaa

Yup. I was in the other mindset at one point after seeing comments like theirs but then I realized Aoba would have won that set comfortably and go in to the third with a lead like that. Karasuno was out of sorts but Yamaguchi's points brung them back and gave them that momentum so even though they lost they have a different mindset then if Yamaguchi never came back in.

@@latima123ify exactly, not only did he contribute physically by racking up 5 straight points but he also helped the team mentally, pinch servers/relief servers have a pretty important goal to score in a pinch as the name would suggest or change the momentum to better the overall mental state of his teammates

my favorite detail is that whenever yamaguchi was on the court, tsukishima seemed to always put in more effort on the court, like he wanted to make sure yamaguchi had more chances to serve. tsukki's not a vocal person, but his actions truely speak louder than words, and he's really showing how much he cares for his friend yams :')

In case y’all don’t know: The pinch servers typically come in for someone who can’t serve (like Hinata). The reason people that get subbed in are super nervous is because you’re only allowed to get subbed in once. Once the enemy team scores while you’re subbed in, you’re then subbed out and you can’t come back in for the rest of the game.

In baseball there's a similar situation where you can substitute in a pinch hitter. They are literally coming out cold from the bench and have to get a hit, or they waste the entire chance.

As a person who played volleyball throughout JH, High School, Club, and College, there is nothing more stressful than pinch serving. You go the entire game physically still, and then you're sent in to get the team out of a tight situation and you're not warm at all. It's like jumping into a cold pool. That's why Yamaguchi is so lit.
