    Well, thanks to your video, I bought this plane and flew for the first time yesterday. It went really well, had a lot of fun. Now I'm checking the weather for the next calm day, so I can fly again. I flew whit no wheels on it and had to adjust the elevator trim a lot, I'll try whit wheels on next time. Thanks for all the fun. It's my first plane, sure won't be the last.

    Picked up this exact same plane, wanted the Arrows Pioneer but is out of stock until possibly October per Hobbyzone.. absolute newbie except for flying a Mavic Mini drone (which practically flies itself). First flight I stuffed it into a tree-had to go home and get a pole to get it down..completely undamaged, went on to have a great flight.. flew it again today and had a good time, flipped into the grass a few times-again undamaged.. lots of fun, glad it's not a heaver/bigger (1.2+meter) plane.. nice and quiet, slow flies well-it like calm conditions... I can see a bigger Bush style plane later, but this is perfect for now..! recommend painting the prop to make it easier to find as it will likely pop off EVERY landing in grass-or trees ;)

    Glad to see you & your "camera man" back at it! I figured you would like the way the Sport Cub would fly but wasn't thinking you'd try flying it in your beautiful house! That was funny to watch! The outside flight was great, too bad it was so cold. I have the same plane but in yellow & white, rebranded by TopRace for Amazon, TR-C385. Its really a Volantex 671-4 just like yours. I was blow away with Volantex's stability system. Like you mentioned, its better than SAFE. You have more freedom to do things but still have leveling. That makes flying so much more relaxing & fun. Do yourself a favor and bind it to your Jumper with....get this....protocol v761, same as Volantex's model number. With the winter season here, take some time to learn something new, your Jumper.

I'm looking forward to flying it once the plague turns loose of humanity and house arrest is finally lifted. I'm glad you loved it! Thanks for subscribing ;) I want to have it flying better in the living room, but that huge BALL light in the dining room was a magnet for this plane. I think I hit it about 358 times! I was seriously contemplating getting out a ladder and pulling it up a few feet...the lights over the island move up and down, so I can actually adjust them out of the way, but they just didn't cause an issue! If this plane was about 1/3 lighter, it would fly around with ease... Also, I think the pitch of the prop is a bit aggressive to fly super slow. If I heated the prop and bent the root of each blade a bit more flat, I bet I could make this plane an inside flyer. I just want to fly it on a nice day. I bet it'll be really fun out there!

  • @BrianPhillipsRC

    @BrianPhillipsRC

    4 жыл бұрын

    Don't miss my point, I think we agree on this. First off, let me reiterate, I really think this plane is sweet, but I would definitely qualify it as a hybrid between toy grade and hobby grade only because it's RTF and the transmitter is somewhere between "okay" and "cheap"...but you bring up very good points, 4 channels, stabilization, and auto leveling, binding, (not like an RF direct link...with only one possible hard coded connection), and good foam. Size doesn't necessarily disqualify it from Hobby grade, but the build quality is a lot lower. Another reason it might qualify as Toy grade is serviceability. You'll be hard pressed to get parts, beyond prop, lipo, charger...not impossible, but you'll have to jump through hoops, whereas if you bought one of the competitors items, you might have a bit better luck for parts.

  • @rc-fannl7364

    I flew mine a few times now, and really like it. It's not as agile as the Mustang, but flies nice and smooth. I already fly most of the time in Expert mode with it. I did have to adjust the landing gear, so it sits higher from the ground, as first landings the prop would often touch the ground, and pop off, even on a decent landing. Another issue that I have with this, and even more with the Mustang, is that it wants to climb out in Expert mode. I did trim the elevator to sit level with transmitter in Expert mode, so not sure if I should add some more down trim, or it's just a little tail heavy with stock battery.

  • @BrianPhillipsRC

    @BrianPhillipsRC

    4 жыл бұрын

    Try doing a mechanical adjustment, then test in Expert mode...Beginner mode will basically ignore your adjustment, and if this continues, recal the gyro when you're done with the mechanical adjustment.

  • @rc-fannl7364

    @rc-fannl7364

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@BrianPhillipsRC I could trim the elevator down a little more, either with the buttons or bending the rod. When you have your plane in Expert mode, and elevator stick centered, is the elevator fully neutral or slightly down? I'm a bit reluctant to make adjustments, as on low throttle, in Expert Mode, it flies pretty much level, and is very relaxing. When I add a little throttle, that's when it wants to climb.

    You should try the RTH function. I’d like to see what it does. It’s probably just flies back in the general direction of your starting point or maybe just reverses direction. Either way it might be a good bailout option if you are flying too far away (and worried of a flyaway due to disconnect) or about to crash into a tree or building.

  • @BrianPhillipsRC

    @BrianPhillipsRC

    I don't disagree that it COULD be helpful, but I've played with features like this, and they always seem to give a very false sense of security. My primary concern is that when you get to flying a plane like this, you really have to fly it to overwhelm the wind, at times, and I fear this is the condition where one would end up trying to use a bailout feature...then you'll basically lose any chance of controlling the plane back to yourself, and instead you'll be 75 feet high in a tree somewhere. Just my two cents. Don't mean to put you off Gimp Man. Maybe I'll give it a shot on a nice calm day to see how it work.

    The battery is put inside the plane, because then it can be shipped as "built in battery" and less restrictions apply. The same battery outside the plane, stuck in one of the openings in the foam, would be considered a seperate battery, and then shipping gets more complicated. It's not logical, but sadly the way ii is. With my P51 mini Mustang 2 of the 2 batteries were in the transmitter battery bay, probably for the same reason.

    @@BrianPhillipsRC Yeah, some of those shipping regulations are a pita. Since these strict rules for batteries were applied, it's gotten harder to get batteries, and more often a BnF quad no longer comes with a battery, due to this. Because shipping cost with battery is much higher than without, unless it's "built-in". So if you like a spare lipo battery shipped, it's going to cost a lot, but suppose that same battery comes installed in a flashlight, it's all good, and it can be shipped with regular shipping, and just a warning sticker on the box, or so. It's the same sense as when you buy a foam plane from eflite or so, and a spare wing costs about half or more of the price of an RTF.

    I would whole heatedly tell you that the Sport Cub S2 is better flying, and will teach you to fly better, BUT - this Sprot Cub 500 is a very VERY good value, and you will also learn a lot about flying from a Sport Cub 500 experience. For some people, $20-30 is no big deal, and for others, it's the difference between making rent....so I want to be sensitive to this, while also being totally honest. BOTH are a good choice. If you can afford the Horizon Hobby product, unless we're talking about a VTOL, they will almost always have the upper hand in a head to head fight....but they'll cost 10-100% more (and usually WORTH every penny). I like the 10mm motor vs the 8mm in the HobbyZone Sport Cub S, BUT I like the FPV camera cable and steerable tail wheel of the HZ cub s. It looks like the type of foam that bends back without creasing at first. Of course, that may make it a tad heavier negating the benefit of the 10mm motor. Doing a loop from level flight with authority is a good sign of decent power though. And the HZ comes with a 150mAh battery (although I use a 300mAh with the larger connector that comes with the Nano QX 3D quad copter.) vs. the 360mah with the Volantex. It has a better battery connector than the HZ also. The HZ ones suck A$$. On a side note, you should REALLY practice some Jack Black impressions. You're almost there already! Cool.

    Miller, it's not a copy of Horizon Hobby, it's a copy of a REAL one ;) I have the Horizon Hobby Sport Cub S, and it's way nicer, but this one will give it a run for it's money in a couple areas... 1) Cheaper!!! 2) Better Battery connector...the Losi Connector is a better style. More surface area than Micro JST PH...which means your lipo will last a bit longer (more cycles, and faster charge and discharge potential) 3) WAY more robust. Look how many times I crashed it!!! 4) Smaller...some would say this is NOT a selling point, but depends on your preference. 5) Did I mention Cheaper?!? LOL 6) This one will fly in more than a couple mph wind!!! Sure, the Horizon Hobby planes are easier to and better flying in general, and they look more scale. They are more expensive to fix, but you CAN get parts. They have better packaging. Better landing gear, steerable tail dragger wheel.

    Hey Bri. not your fault at all - a bit frustrating but as you say there may be customs reasons for it. Those H8 connectors you call Lowcee? can you link to a site so I can get some female connectors to make an adaptor for my charger

    I would definitely love to buy that plane. My wife won’t let me get any more planes and I’m trying to think of a way to buy it and not let her know I got it. So it’s gonna be hard for me to send away for it she’ll kill me. I wish my Hobby Shop carried it, this way I could just go buy it and not let her find out about it but knowing her she will. She is really freaking out with all my planes. She even gets upset when I send away for parts. So listen Brian And camera crew, what do i do? I’m actually afraid of her😂

    Hi Brian, loved the video. Do you know if it's possible to bind this little model to a traditional 2.4Ghz transmitter like my DX8i? Thanks

    @@BrianPhillipsRC - thanks, that was a question I was going to ask. My thought had been to keep flying the Cub until it fell apart, but use it to transition to a 'real' transmitter.
