My dad had me flying nitro planes from a very young age and i had a knack for it. But when i was a teenager i tried getting into helicopters on a simulator and its no joke. Toy helicopters make you think that its not that bad but when you are in full control and the the helicopter does exactly what you tell it to, you realize how bad you are at it.

@Engage RC imho the hardest part of helis is keeping track of where it is pointing. Like planes go forward and if you are in trouble a little throttle can get you out of it. If you can't keep up with your inputs on a heli you are going to have a bad time lol

@@SlowerIsFaster139 yes assuming you get to that stage. When I started helis all had flybars and only a tail gyro. Just getting a stable hover took several days to master.

More Heli Videos, please! I've always wanted an RC Heli, but could never afford one, so I get a lot of enjoyment from watching these! Thank you!
Hey Kevin. My name is Scott. I've been flying all things that fly. One of the most important things to do after plugging in all connections it is mandatory to hot glue all connections to all components. Otherwise you will be always chasing the reasons you have glitch crashes. Food for thought. I love your chanel and watch 3very day. Keep it up Kevin!!! You and your crew are doing what my dream was for 40 plus years. Thank you for all you do.

Flying nitro planes from a young age must have been an exciting experience! I can imagine how challenging it must be to transition to helicopters. Toy helicopters can be deceiving, but once you're in full control, you realize the true difficulty. It's a humbling experience when you see the helicopter respond exactly as you command. Would really love the scale heli, but £400 for that tiny chopper is just not worth it in my eyes.

I lost my first ever fpv drone 3 years ago, same thing happened it’s because it was in angle/self level mode and there is a angle limit so with a lot of wind you couldn’t pitch forward enough to combat the wind so it just goes bye bye lol. I only fly 5inch freestyle now in full acro mode it’s actually easier that self level mode cause that is just fighting your inputs more than helping you so I always recommend people to just learn in acro mode from the get go.
I fly these helicopters, myself. Although, mine are exclusively electric, these days. Anyone can get into it, for a start. Helicopters are nowhere near as 'expensive' as what they once were, when I started doing this in 2007. There _is_ a big learning curve, when it comes to being able to fly helicopters well. The recommended path is to learn to hover in all orientations first, before progressing to doing basic circuits (which is where most people plateau, & that's absolutely fine). My attitude towards crashing is the polar opposite to what's considered 'the norm' with helicopters, & my rationale behind it is every crash is preventable if not completely avoidable entirely. Kev is actually really good at flying. In this video, his flying right now is typical of someone that is out-of-practice. IE His flying skills are rusty (which he has already stated in the video). That's okay. All he needs to do is put in a bit more practice both in the simulator & IRL (even when he finds it 'boring'), & he will get better at flying. With me, if I go for one day without practicing either IRL or in the simulator, I lose a good 60% of my own flying skill... by skipping merely one day. That goes to show the amount of skill required to fly these aircraft, & especially to the caliber that aerobatics pilots (such as Kev & yours truly) fly to. In Kev's case, his videos are geared towards being entertaining as well as informative. Truth be told, crashes _are_ entertaining, period. "Nobody wants to crash. But, when a crash happens, you definitely don't want to miss it, either." --Curtis Youngblood. As for the gatekeepers what dictate that Kev shouldn't be anywhere near helicopters, let alone fly them, here is what I have to say about that: A.) Gatekeeping is what prevents & discourages any newer (& younger) people from getting into flying helicopters; B.) It's a bit of an unspoken 'golden rule' to _never_ interfere with &/or micromanage how your fellow pilot conducts themselves with their aircraft, unless what they are doing is genuinely harmful to themselves &/or those around them; & C.) Overregulation already threatens the existence of the entire uncrewed/remotely piloted aircraft side of the RC hobby. It makes _no_ sense to me, to add insult to injury by gatekeeping & being divided among ourselves, when there are far more pressing matters at hand (such as overregulation).
Still not sure how you can fly helis so well, but not planes lol edit: the durability of the helis today is great, although back when helis just exploded into pieces, it did make for great content lol
@the_minimalistic_adventure

Yeah, anyone with any slight knowledge of how a plane can fly, can typically keep one in the air *for the most part* lol, but collective pitch heli’s are a WHOLE different beast.
I bought a decent sized and price helo a few years ago. My biggest issue was forward, reverse, left and right while hovering. The ONLY way I could "fly" it was if it was moving and I didn't have enough space. I did trim all the bushes in my backyard though hahahah.

I have exactly the same problem. So I just fly my heli like a plane. As long as I move forward I'm alright.
Can't beat a bit of nitro heli fun 🙂If I had to keep just one heli of mine... it would be the 600N.
That was CRAZY, I can't believe that it was that close to crashing so many times, but u still had most of the control of it!
Not going to lie, I was so satisfied and absolutely laughed my ass off when Mark crashed his own Heli at 11:03 😂 After Mark lost one of Kevin’s and crashed his other and just laughed his ass off, that’s what he deserves! Also Kevin trying to hold back laughing asking Mark “what happened” as Mark walks to his crashed heli all bummed out is priceless🤣

For people that have to actually budget their money a simulation is the most fun you can have and still actually learn a skil. It’s boring to you because you can afford to crash them.
Love that statement. You have to enjoy fixing helis as much as flying them or this hobby isn’t for you. I usually take 3 helis out to go fly and usually 1 doesn’t work right one gets crashed and the 3rd runs beautifully. I’m not hating on them it’s my favorite thing to do just be prepared.
First! Also I’m way to chicken to fly these
