    I think the thing that makes Voja truly dangerous, is that along with the Ward 3, the card incentivizes you to play as many mana dork elves as possible, so that even though Voja doesn't have Haste, he's almost always coming down before T5, and that Ward 3 often means your opponent has no response. I've gotten him out on T3, with Haste before, and it's just hilarious.

    They didn't need to be counters. +X/+X until end of turn would have been powerful enough, and the game wouldn't still be over if your answer was a single target removal spell + ward cost, a turn late. The fact that it's elves, famous for showing up in great numbers, that cause the permanent boost to your entire battlefield, is the rub-in that makes the card so dangerous that the game is still over if your answer is anything but a boardwipe, that you need as early as turn 4.

  • @laytonjr6601

    @laytonjr6601

    2 ай бұрын

    That ward 3 means it's about the same cost to use a board wipe as target removal. This just teaches new players to play more board wipes, because everyone loves resetting the board and games that take ages. A board wipe also gets rid of all the mana dorks

  • @51gunner

    @51gunner

    2 ай бұрын

    Ward 3 was overkill, the fact that it's counters so that even your dorks get swole permanently is crazy, and the fact that it draws itself another card just by being a wolf is also silly amounts of good. The Vigilance so that you don't drop your guard in the slightest by swinging out is also obscene. I am so tempted to cannibalize my Raggadragga deck & use my copy of Voja, simply because Voja takes those same mana dorks & uses them better. Hell, I could put Raggadragga in as a sort of backup commander as one of my very few non-elves/non-wolves in the deck. The only downside I see is that the deck looks like it'll get hosed by a board wipe or two. The first one's a big setback if you dump your hand & don't have many elves left to rebuild with, and the second feels like it'll be nearly impossible to come back from with few dorks left and a commander costing nine.

    As a Selesnya player i just love this deck, red adding haste and anti-counter effects goes absolutely nuts if your opponents doesn't have early responses and just try to out ramp you, the fact that it also let you build 2 full tribal decks, since adding white to a gruul werewolves deck gives it a lot of alternatives, and the lore behind Voja is making me happy to play this. Also, for the people complaining, isn't this how mono green does all the fucking time?

    I mean, I just disagree with the take at the end. Voja is a flavor fail, with Ghired, who has been exiled from the Conclave, being the only other member of the Conclave who has Red. Voja has 3 Keywords at five mana and a text box that says draw cards and get an overrun effect. Here is an example of a much more balanced commander at 5 mana: Yennett Cryptic sovereign has three keywords making it impossible to block pretty much, but when it attacks, it generates card advantage, allowing you to play odds for free and draw anything else. Why is Yennett better than Voja? Well, for the reasons pointed out in the video, for one, it's a card designed to avoid attacking, this time in colors not known for attacking, so that's a plus. Yennett's deckbuilding requirements add a layer of strategic depth, making its abilities truly shine. Despite these restrictions, it remains a potent draw engine, offering a rewarding challenge for skilled players. What are the deckbuilding restrictions for Voja? Well, you need elves and some number of wolves and changelings. that is, throw in your protection for your board, and this deck makes itself. Just play elves to ramp out Voja early for people to realistically play removal, then start holding up protection. Also I'm not a Yennett player and have never seen anyone play it so we should start pushing for more Jank

    When a standard player speaks for commander players 🤦🏻‍♂️ We dont want 4/5 drops to be that powerful, especially when they come out on turn 3. We’d get hated out of the game. At a table of four this would not resolve or stay on the board
