Voices of SCAD: Laura

Why am I having chest pain? I'm a healthy woman with no risk factors?
-- Typical SCAD patient.
Laura was 40 when she had a SCAD heart attack in 2009. She was healthy and active, and was preparing to run a triathlon. After a week stay in the hospital, she was discharged with little information on what to expect and the paths forward. So she sought out others online and was active in helping Dr. Sharonne Hayes of the Mayo Clinic locate survivors for her first research project on SCAD. In this video she describes her experiences during the early online activities of SCAD support groups.
To improve awareness, please share this video with any woman you know who has had chest pain whose cause has not been specifically identified.
At www.scadresearch.org/about/ are links to three flyers, one for patients, one for emergency room personnel, and one for EMTs. Consider sharing them with any healthcare professionals or emergency responders you know.
