When you see Geoff do crazy stuff un his range its usually because Layne, the beat boxer arranged the song. He likes to push Geoff's musical boundaries.😊

So glad you found this group. Really good suggestions here. This acapella group just owns any Halloween, Broadway, Disney, and video game song. I saw you reacted to Metallica's nothing else matters. You should see voiceplay's version. Geoff does the bass guitar... and some. Plus surprises from the others.

Geoff Castellucci has the deepest range of the popular bass singers, his freakin range is CRAZY!!!! He has like 8 octaves of vocal range. When I was Geoff's age I had the tenor baritone range, I could nail Starship's Jane, Foreigner's Double Vision, Zeppelin's Rock and Roll and almost every song out there except some Geddy Lee was too high and so was some Rick Emmett, and Yes was hard to reach every note, but I had a sweet range. Over the years, I'm 59 now I've lost so much top end and gained so much bottom end I never would have believed it if you told me forty years ago the list of songs I would one day not be able to sing anymore. That bummed me out, for a long time. Then I discovered Home Free and VoicePlay (Can't do Pentatonix, don't know why?) Well Geoff has some great videos out there on various aspects of singing bass. I sang bass before seeing those videos, I had a fairly deep range right from the start in Church Choir in High School, but with age, and Geoff's videos and exercises I've lowered my bottom end at least a full octave. So now when I watch these videos I can usually hit all the notes, maybe not with huge power but I can dogone hit them. It took me about a year of working my voice lower to hit that end note in this video. Now I'm working on developing power in those lowest frequencies, it's fun stuff, almost makes up for the range I've lost on the top end. But nothing will ever top being able to stun karaoke night with my rendition of Double Vision LOL, I could lay that song down as tight as Lou Gramm himself, I got the album when I was 12, a pop hits album that also featured Joan Jett's I Love Rock and Roll and Styx Renegade with some others. I sang in Church choirs from childhood on and I learned that album, imprinted it, and sang it over and over and over every day for years. My dad recognized my love of music and one day when I was 13 he took me to the electronics store and let me pick out a brand new Stereo system. I was never without those handful of songs and then my 27 year old step-brother spilled kerosene on his album collection when I was 14, he thought he ruined the entire collection, gave the whole thing to me; every notable album from the late sixties all the way up to about 1979 . . . Dude; I must have inheritted about $5000.00 in 1970's dollars worth of albums just by a twist of fate at 14 years old. So I suddenly had a top notch stereo and an album collection rivalling our local radio station LOL Thank you Glenn Carver, Rest in Peace Big Guy. Funny though he didn't have a single Yes or Triumph album, nor The Police. I filled in the ones from more my age group, but I had everything the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin ever produced, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Ted Nugent, Jethro Tull, and so many more legendary albums. I was never without music except when I was out in the woods, we'll discuss that more in the next paragraph (just kidding, but yeah I did love the woods too) Geoff's tutorial videos on singing bass have helped me conquer new territory. We have never met or conversed but I consider him a friend for his free great videos that helped me expand my range down low to depths I never thought possible, Cheers, I hope you had as much fun reading my free album collection story as I had telling it LOL

This song isn’t actually a Christmas song. It’s from the Tim Burton animated movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, where Halloween tries to steal Christmas (because Jack Skellington is experiencing ennui). The Oogie Boogie man is a bad guy, even to the others in Halloween-land. Watch this song in the movie and then watch Voiceplay’s version again, and you’ll appreciate this one even more. ☺️

Great ones are the Viking/Pirate themed videos: Hoist the Colors, My Mother Told Me, and Valhalla Calling, as well as the Post-Apocalypse Trilogy: Warriors, Dream On, and Seven Nation Army (in that order). Geoff is particularly awesome in Daddy Sang Bass, The Little Mermaid as Ursula with a multi-octave glissando that still just makes me shake me head, he truly takes on "dragon speech" in Dragonborn Comes, and there's Halo with a low note that doesn't even register on cheap headphones, and a little bit afterward where you learn about their "young years" that is really touching. The new short "Peaches" showcases just how ridiculously high Geoff can get. Higher than me, and I'm a woman! A contralto, sure, but still! I can hit from A1 to A5 on a very good day. He wails on A#5 and it's so perfectly wild. (I must practice more!) For simple vocal beauty: True Colors, In My Room, I Can't Make You Love Me, Bridge Over Troubled Water, and Man In The Mirror. Those give me warm feelings! Both their "Queen" and "Boy Bands in 5 Minutes" videos are fun, but I have to say that "Nothing Else Matters" may be my all-time favorite, ONLY after you really get to see how talented everyone is vocally... because that's when they blow you away with EXTRA.

Welcome to the Voiceplay Rabbit Hole. They have a vast variety of genres you can choose from. Scroll thru the list find one you like, some of my favorites are Trapped, Billie Eilish in 3 Minutes (followed by) Panic at the Disc in 4 Minutes then Queen in 5 Minutes (its best if you do these in thus order for the Story). To give you a heads-up the Lineup has changed in the past couple of years two members have left while one has joined, so don't worry when you see different faces. They have a lot of featured singers singing with them, they usually are in the middle. Enjoy the trip down the Rabbit Hole 🎉 🐇 😄

This is very impressive, but it is not my favorite - it's too Geoff-centric. In most of their covers, each member of the group has a chance to shine. The bearded tenor was with them from the beginning (1997) but left for undisclosed personal reasons in 2020. The black baritone left in 2021 when he was recruited by the US Navy to sing for them. He is 2 years into a 5 year hitch. They've added one new member, Cesar d e la Rosa, but still have one unfilled position. They collaborate with a series of featured artists that they've worked with for years. J has been back 3 times for collaborations, most recently Metallica's Nothing Else Matters and Valhalla Calling from Assasin's Creed. Both are brilliant. NEM is Geoff's arrangement, VC is Layne's (beatboxer). Subscribed in anticipation of more Geoff and Voiceplay!!
