For sure, compared to the other legends in rock that was lost early, he to me is the one with the most unrealized artistic potential. Grace is one of the better art/alternative rock records of all time, and that was his debut. It's quite depressing.

@@tylersanders5622 Layne was a phenomenal singer, but not the biggest of songwriters though. The AiC catalogue from the 90's is pretty extensive too. But I feel you, he had the perfect voice for that heavy and melancholic style of rock/metal.

Same here. Jeff Buckley is just WOW.

One of the greatest rock vocalists, spot on. I think a lot of vocalists who came after owe a lot to Jeff, especially guys like Matt Bellamy and Thom Yorke. Jeff really specialised in a fragile-sounding, emotionally loaded style. Beautiful to witness.

Um no.. Freddie Mercury and several others are much much much more talented vocalist. Jeff sounds rough here IMO. Like a even worse Eddie Vedder (who is overrated.. terrible live)

This was so lovely to watch, though I teared up because Jeff still breaks my heart after all this time. He almost seemed a bit out of synch in the world, like he didn't quite belong here. Seeing you scramble for words to describe him was an utter delight and I even laughed a bit! Some people are failed by words, thankfully Jeff's art speaks for him.

Jeff Buckley’s Grace is my favorite album of all time. Every song is great. Lover, You Should’ve Come Over is my favorite song. What a shame, we lost such a great talent so young

My teen crush 😍 what a voice. Just reminded me of a fight my sister and I had, she drew a moustache on my Jeff Buckley and Shannon Hoon/Blind Melon posters so I retaliated by drawing male anatomy on the foreheads of all her Stephen Dorff posters. Much hair was pulled that day. I think mum threw a bucket of water over us to break it up 😂 aaah the good ole days

Jeff had great technique and a beautiful voice. He left a huge hole in the music world when he died.

"i think thats one of the best vocal performances i've ever seen" - enough said. doesn't need to change a thing. imperfections create perfection.

I love Jeff Buckley because he can shift his vocal technique to fit a wide variety of genres and it sounds honest and real. He does rock grunge (Grace), Soulful (Lilac Wine), angelic operatic (Corpus Christie), alternative (Last Goodbye), and everything else in between (The Man That Got Away). Most artists mainly stick with one or maybe two different types of genres. Jeff Buckley did it all and did it well.

Finally. Someone picks the right live Grace clip. This performance was great and arguably the best footage of Jeff live. Kudos to whoever produced this TV show and Sam for putting up with the less vocally mix. (Which I LOVE)

Jeff voice was just a guitar, and he knew that and become a ''guitarist'' virtuoso, he mastered his instrument how he wanted, that's why it's very unique and ''weird'' lol Chris Cornell did the same to some extent too, miss them both... ❤😭

That reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald, who also saw her voice as just another instrument, and that’s why she did such unusual things with it. You can hear her moving her voice in ways most people don’t, because of the way she thought of her voice.

Grace was so important to me when I was in college...this is around 2000-2004 I listened to it nonstop on repeat as I went through all kinds of growth and changes and heartbreaks and emotions and upheavals...it is still incredible start to finish, I don't skip any songs and know every word and every note of each. Thank you for this

I love that you waited for him to finish “goes so slow” before pausing. Thank you, that moment should never be paused. Lol. This man blows my mind. I hear his music and feel intense love and gratitude, followed by intense sadness.. I wish we could have been graced with more of his beautiful music

And he also played amazing lead guitar with his phenomenal vocals.

Thank you for reacting to Jeff! 😁I've been really waiting for this Jeff Buckley was an American singer and songwriter who died at the age of 30 in 1997. Sadly he only released one studio album before dying: Grace. If you haven't heard it I definitely recommend it. Listening to Jeff's voice and the emotions he can convey through it it's a whole new experience.

God, that first strum in Grace was so goddamn emotional for me, I nearly cried. One note and it’s like I’m suddenly back in my teenage room, 15 all over again. Jeff Buckley meant so much to that teenage girl. He still does to the woman she grew up to be, but he was there for that angsty teenage nerve-wreck in ways no one else really was. Thanks, Jeff!

Hey Sam, Loved your analysis, some really good tips, thanks. I was lucky enough to see Jeff in 1994 in a small intimate gig only 2/300. Changed my life

he had an amazing voice. i got into him in 97, didnt realise he had just died . cant think of anyone similar to him. he would of been so huge by now. so im glad even 20 years later, he isnt forgotten, but lauded for his talent.

Jeff was with out a doubt one of the rangiest talented singers that's ever lived. His keening lilt, haunting grace notes and protracted sustained phrasing didnt exist before and hasnt come again since his passing. Lover you should have come over is one of the most brilliant love songs ever.

I love him too I llistened to every version of Leonard Cohen"s Hallelujah. Jeff Buckleys is by far my favorite.
