Really amazing now days how a group like Pentatonix can put together a song like this. Where each member records their part at their individual home (in isolation) and then it is electronically synced together. All the songs on their new EP were done that way.

The video for Shallow you can hear how fast her vibrato is.

To be fair, I think some of it is a stylistic choice; some of her older singing has slower vibrato. I also tend to think that, while all of them are talented and also were well-trained even during the Sing-Off, she's improved the most noticeably since then.

With them being in isolation they have more vocal Liberties as there are no vocal producers present telling them to try something different. Pentatonix, when left to their own devices, have always come up with the better ideas and I think that's why this EP is so amazing! They are very intuitive and smart about they're arranging and where to place people and what each person's special gift is. They just did a fabulous number arranging this and brought out elements in the song that I think improve it! Even having Mitch singing a non vocal line as if it was a vocal line in the song (instead of an instrument) added a huge element! And they brought that beat forward and made it beat heavy which totally changed the song up to something a lot more Clubby and Dancy which just makes you feel good and we all need that right now! I love it! And yes Kirsten has an extremely fast vibrato especially in her lower range. Mitch has a beautiful vibrato but he chose to use a different sound and controlled it during the "Duh Duh da da da duh duh" until the very very last part when he softened his voice and let the vibrato flow where it normally does for him. He showed amazing control and he made choices over how he wanted to use his voice in this number. I know that only because I know his voice. If you're not a person that listens to Pentatonix often you don't realize what I'm referring to. You would have to know Mitch Grassi and his normal vocal acrobatics to see the control and deliberate choice of execution exercised here. thank you so much for reacting!

"Sounds like it has instruments but doesn't" You should react to Daft Punk medley and 12 days of Christmas, both have bits that sound like a techno/trance track from a studio synth.

Lovely studio mastery (more than is realized) and great singing. If your'e interested years ago ythis type of presentation was perfected by a group called Take Five. jacob Collier also uses this technique and being a solo artist, and player of every instrument (live or in studio) is on an even higher level. This was indeed beautiful. Thanks a bunch. Love and light

You need to hear more of their recent work. Please, see their recent "Amazing Grace" and "Mad World" both with their serious signature style, not to be missed. Then try the two originals "Happy Now" and "Be My Eyes," both back to popacapella, which they do better than anybody.

I really enjoyed the song and the reaction....Thank you Rachel! I just listened to a beatboxer react to Home by Pentatonix. He was intrigued by Kevin's BB and learned how in 3 years ....now is in the Swiss beatbox community (an honor and a dream for any BB) but he gave some pretty interesting insight BBng. His name is Zureck (goes by Reck) very interesting. And I love a reactor that can give insight like you/he ...I love music....!

Dear Rachel, now that I know you are familiar with and like Pentatonix PLEASE start reacting to Home Free. They are also an Acapella group. The first song I hope you react to is the video (NOT THE LIVE VERSION) of Man Of Constant Sorrow, The second song for now I hope you react to is Home Free Feat. Avi Kaplan Ring Of Fire. Avi was a member of Pentatonix. So for Ring Of Fire there are 2 bass singers although they can both sing beyond that. It would be cool to see you react to Home Free Drum Solo.

Dear Rachel, another thing about Home Free is since the virus they have done a number of songs combining doing their parts at their individual homes and putting them together. The must see video is Quarantine that will guarantee make you smile. After that they also have Down To The Honkytonk & Flowers On The Wall & Cover Me Up. For Cover Me Up don't turn off the video when the song ends because there is a VERY SPECIAL thing that happens after the song.
