Only Nightwish (Tuomas) would conceive of a song such as this one. Beyond epic! You caught the melody from Bach's "Toccata en Fugue in D minor" which was followed by 2 riffs from Metallica's "Enter Sandman". This was Tuomas' way of paying tribute to the evolution of music from classical to metal. Genius! Loved it Valerie. Be well.

Floors parents were among the audience. Floor told that she could not look them, to be able to sing 🐻‍❄

We were here. Not in person but via the wonderful digital media. I'm glad you chose the Tampere version of the song, Floor is just singing her heart out with her various register vocals like there's no tomorrow. And as this is the show closer, she's had a full day's work of singing to do before. Marco's bass line and the bass sound are something to remember. And the drummer Kai does an extremely crisp drum performance. It's the precision and the drum sound (I can't guess how long it took to get him and the audio engineers to get it satisfactory to him) which captivate me.

Really should've watched the outplay, it's really quite spectacular and moving. This was the last song of the night, and their stamina is incredible, Floor's especially..... To be that present and spot on pitch for a song that long.

Great reaction. The spoken part comes after the credits... but don't stress over missing it. People forget you're a vocal coach and are here to break down the vocals and music. Don't let the snarky and demanding fans discourage you from doing more Nightwish reactions... I love Nightwish, but many of the fans are embarrassingly almost like the Dimash stans.

@@VocalSplendorStudios It does, but recorded rather than in person. It sums up the whole message, that the greatest show on earth is LIFE!

You should watch the end of the song. Some versions don’t have it, but there is a coda with Richard Dawkins speaking over the musical outdo and the band paying their farewells to the audience. It’s very uplifting. They are not just curtain calls: it’s part of the song.

This was the Tempere Finland concert and they did not have the Richard Dawkins speaking part. I watched to the very end until the credits rolled. No spoken outro. That said, this is such a complex work it's worth another listen. FYI. the Tempere concert was requested by my patron. The Wembley concert did have Richard Dawkins so I may have another listen/reaction to that concert at some point.

@@VocalSplendorStudios Hi Valerie. I think the Tampere version is the best one. Being British, I would be happy to big up Wembley though it’s a rather charmless shed of a venue. Despite this, I’m hoping to see Nightwish there in December. Having Dawkins on stage is a bit of a coup but doesn’t add much in comparison to his voiceover which plays at the end when those crazy kids come out and thank the audience. The end part, in which Dawkins speaks the final lines from Origin of the Species, plays over the credits and it’s also worth waiting for. So yes, I think the full version is the best because it carries on the feeling well after the song itself has ended. Wembley is still good but Tampere is better.

Loved your reaction VSS. You were purring like a cat. Also, you ended the reaction a bit early as the song actually continues while the band comes out and meets the crowd. It's very moving as it is the end of a world tour.

Sorry, but the bassplayer is Marko singing. Tuomas (Metal Mozart) does the keyboards and only sings without a microphone. You didn't fully unpack the present, the video does continue with NW thanking their audience, along with Richard Dawkin's words. \m/e were here.

Actually, first Richard Dawkins speaking from his own book, followed by Charles Darwin's words, although spoken by Richard Dawkins - it is the closing passage from "On The Origin Of Species". Charles Darwin, of course, was the founder of the science in which Richard Dawkins is now at the forefront of - the giant on whose shoulders he stands. So much is missed at the end of this reaction, which summarises the whole concept of not just this song, but the whole album.

This about as good as it gets. High art.

I only got introduced to Nightwish one month ago and I have never been so emotionally affected by a group as this. I grew up with the likes of Led Zeppelin Deep Purple AC/DC Heart etc but Nightwish and Floor just blows everybody out the water. Nightwish and Floor Jansen is the marriage made in acoustical heaven ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

What made this show even more special for Floor is both her parents where in the audience.

If you notice when Tuomas piano playing in the beginning and there was only single notes and 6 notes being hit those 6 notes being played as carbon because 6 is C for carbon, so in the beginning when Tuomas is playing the piano that is basically representing how life first started. And when he started playing those long notes but with the Same 6 notes that means the carbon is growing and forming. Just for consideration there is a lot of relations to life. The fireworks represent the Big Bang etc. i would love to continue about this song and all the details but it’s just so much lol. Also which those multiple fireworks people had theory that a planet was hit by earth and that planet created the moon when the planet hit the earth. So thats why there was multiple fireworks as well

I don't think she cut too soon. There is a version of this performance on KZread, which is only 17 minutes long and stops where she left off. And the sound quality is better on this version. Anyway, very good reaction !

Knew you'd love this one! Endless Forms Most Beautiful, (Darwin). Floors 1st Nightwish album. Piano and fireworks! The Greatest Show on Earth, Richard Dawkins, intro. Floor as the serious, low monotone narrator. Changing to another of her voices. Roaring of big cats, screams of Chimps, then Troy joins in! Marco growling and Floor too, just after her soft siren bit. Emppu with “Enter Sandman”. "Will you sing with us?" “WE WERE HERE!” What a team they are! Not forgetting “Crewish” And the Special Effects Team.

Stephen Pearcy from RATT had an interesting voice. No one else sounds exactly like him so it could probably make for a good video

The cool thing about the song among other things is that it was far from over but you broke off the video. 😁

Loved your reactiion, shame you missed all of the ending of this song and the concert. I am not sure if you noticed that Troy who played the pipes, was also singing backup vocals with Marco (bassist) and Floor. That probably added some extra texture for your ears. Troy and Floor were doing the gutteral grunting. It is more visible in the Wembley version. The production team for Nightwish are phenomenal at everything they do. aka Crewish. The backing track includes Symphony instruments and Choir voices and other sounds. It is composed of about 600 tracks for this song, mixed down to about 250 tracks for the stage sound system backing track music. They coordinate on stage with a click track with the backing music. Tuomas (keyboardist) is the controlling mastermind on and off stage.

@@VocalSplendorStudios Thanks for your feedback. This show is a great version of this song. The final spoken outro for the Tampere show is actually done during the credits for the DVD. At the Wembley show there are no fireworks, but the outro speech was done live on stage by Dawkins after the end of the song, and musical outro during the band bow to the audience. The Wembley version of this song was my first intro to Nightwish, so it is a little bit more special for me.

We all agree she appreciates the composition and lyrics, so that Marko slip up is easily forgotten, no big deal . Only one might be upset for the mistake might be her. But really... if she likes our band , then Oops. No biggie.

I would suggest you listen to the Wembley 2015 version also - it's a little different and Richard Dawkins is on stage at the end. You could look up the book by Richard Dawkins "The Greatest Show on Earth" and read the description. The synchronized fireworks are illustrating the colliding comets and asteroids creating our planet Earth.

I alwyas have liked your reaction videos. On this one, I used my headset for the first time and I noticed a detail which I find a bit disturbing if may say so? Your humming during the intro of the song does not add anything, but I find very distracting. Like poet and the pendulum, this is a song you should do some research fist and listen to it with subtitles (there are way to many scientific things involved to catch it all with just ears). Also always watch it till the very end. There is a whole part that got missed here, including two of the most famost quotes of Richard Dawkins (a British evolutionary biologist and author). There is another version of this song (the official live version) on the Nightwish channel. Maybe you want to react to this too (I think it has subtitles).

Oh yes, more than a few. ;) This was the Tempere performance. When the credits rolled over a street scene, I thought it was done. I will have to do the Wembley performance to get the full effect!

Their is a newer artist I am hoping you will react to. She is 14 years old with the voice of an Angel. Her new song is called Dandelion. It's about a small Dandelion [ Girl } trying to grow up in the forest surrounded by tall trees, { Grown ups } She grows because she believes in herself and as she gets older her seeds create more Dandelions. This song is from their 1997 debut album called "Ukryty Wymiar" which is of course the Polish version. The English version of this album was recorded in 1999 under the title "Hidden Dimension". I will definitely go so far as to say that in all likelihood Artrosis influenced Floor Jansen. The lead vocalist is a female whose nickname is "Medeah". Medeah can easily rival Floor Jansen. That is saying a lot to say the least. The music on this album is just a small taste of what Artrosis is actually capable of. I can't wait to see if you react to this band, because if you do you will NOT regret that choice. In my honest opinion I personally believe Artrosis is possibly one of the greatest bands of all time. I hope you give this song a chance. Plus Medeah looks like a goddess in this video. Medeah was only 19 or 20 when the video was released. I think when you hear her vocals you will need a tissue, because her voice will bring tears to your eyes very easily. Oh and Medeah is fantastic with her storytelling in the way she uses her whole body to tell the story of the music being played. I love your uploads and keep up the fantastic work. Have a good day. Unfortunately you choose the version which cuts off the outro with the Richard Dawkins speaking part which is incredibly emotional and moving. Still a very good reaction.

@@VocalSplendorStudios Unfortunately I have seen it happen to other reactors as well. I don't think there is an official live version from Tampere, just fan uploads. This one seems pretty good. kzread.info/dash/bejne/moGVrNaSYNutYJM.html The offical live version is from Wembley and has Dawkins speaking in person at the end of the outro but I think the Tampere version is the best.

Usually I wouldn't bother with a reaction that misses out the end climax of this masterpiece but I enjoy this reactor and we're all allowed to make mistakes (Tuomas - really?). One thing about this song I've never been clear about: when the 'we were here' chant is sang is it referring to our demise as a species because of environmental degradation or our natural demise due to evolution?

Yes, I made a mistake with the names....I filmed this after a long day of teaching. But I reacted to the Tempere, Finland concert as requested by my Patron. This concert did not have the spoken dialogue at the end.

Check again, the Tampere show has two Dawkins recorded talks just after the song finishes. They are part 4) The Understanding & 5) Sea-Worn Driftwood at the very end. They are the final 2 parts at Tampere. I've watched at the very least 50 reactions to this version and many of the Wembley version where Richard Dawkins does part 5 live at the end.

Narration gives another meaning to we were here verse.

Marco was the male vocalist, but we know what you mean. You ended the video too early. You missed the closing music and two spoken stanzas by Richard Dawkins to properly close out the song. In the Wembley version, if you stopped the video prematurely, you'd have missed Richard Dawkins coming out in person to recite passages of his book. The only critique I have is that you check how much longer the video is because you will miss out on portions of the songs. Dawkins' comment about how we won the lottery of birth is one of the most profound statements of the song. Pity it wasn't in your video.
