I grew up near Philadelphia when Boyz II Men was hitting the big time in the early 90's, and I have been following Home Free since they won The Sing Off here in the states. Many people think of Home Free as a country group, but that's not what they were before being encouraged to audition for The Sing Off as a country group after a previous attempt to make the show as a more contemporary group failed. So seeing something like this doesn't surprise me because they are so much more than country. Even though Boyz II Men sang some acapella songs, this wasn't one of them, and I think it was actually smart for Home Free to do a song that wasn't originally an acapella song. Rob definitely showed a soulful side to this, and as a group, they absolutely nailed this!

You’d be surprised at what they can pull off live with just the 5 of them! One that blows my mind every time is Man of Constant Sorrow live. Chance starts off doing the jaw harp live and then they use a looper so he can sing his parts. There’s so much going on but they pull it off and it sounds incredible! Also, I don’t think there is music backing any of this song. It is obviously a studio version but I’m pretty certain it’s still all vocals.

You'd be surprised what they do on stage to fill in, they all take turns with extra mouth work and they also have done a couple with looping, so do some of the background hard parts to show us what they do, then Adam puts it all together as they sing over it. Awesome! They did that to Castle on the Hill as it has parts Austin and Rob couldn't sustain during the song as they also need to sing other parts. They do have live performance videos of it showing them setting up the looping then singing it. Chance has the lead in that one and his voice is so special, cuts through my soul. Thanks for the great reaction. Take care.

I really really enjoy your reaction videos. Not JUST because you are beautiful!! 😏 but because you show so much joy when you are listening to a song you like and your comments are awesome to listen to (must be that Aussie accent). Keep up the great work. It looks like you may have won some type of reward? If that is true, then congratulations you do great work and you deserve the recognition.

They're all great, they always are. Rob really kills it in this one though. I feel like this song was his idea; like it's one he loves (and rightly so, it's a fantastic song) and wanted to do for a long time. All of these guys are incredibly talented. Just a fantastic group.

Yes, Adam is a human drum kit. He is, after all, a 2 time world beatboxing champion.

Do just a little research first before such a bold claim. I like the group as well.... He's an awesome beat boxer I cannot deny but he was a Chicago state and Denver state champions. But they only host the world championship every 3-4 yrs. Adam has never entered the BBBWC much less the champion. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beatbox_Battle_World_Championship#BBBWC_results

Also, please realise that as Americans you guys call everything "world championship" even if it's exclusive to the US. The rest of the world doesn't do this.

One thing, Chance is the one who has the bassline through much of the song, not Tim. They can be so interchangeable in that so many times that it is so seamless when they change off.

Chance is totally the unsung hero of this song. In the chorus, he's playing the part of the synth keyboard using his harmonics. It's most noticeable when he drops out at the end and Rob takes us to church. They're all amazing, but nobody ever mentions Chance, so I thought I should.

@@manuelodonnell1148 If you saw that Christmas special with Home Free, in the one section with the "voice coach," he refers to Chance as the least important part of the group. LOL ... they had alot of fun making fun of themselves with the skits ... even made fun of Tim getting a haircut

So...I’m a HUGE Home Free fan, and I’ve been a Julia fan for quite a while too. But this is the video during which I fell in love with you. 😂 No one tell my wife! Boyz II Men was my inspiration in high school and college while singing in multiple choirs and a capella groups. I think Rob and the boys CRUSHED this song.

You covered so much and it was great!!! Loved the analysis! They did a spectacular job on this song. I was hoping you'd mention the incredible 'harmony run' by all of them right after Tim's solo at 9:09 but there's so much going on it's easily missed. I think it's awesome! Rob, Austin, and Tim all have insane run capabilities. Thx so much for doing this one. Enjoyed it!!

JULIA !! So glad you've now become a "Home Fry", what we Home Free fans call ourselves. This is one that shows just how capable they are. In concert on several songs they do use a "looper", which it is their voices but it can help on that layering on some songs. Listen to their cover of Castle on the Hill, listen to the studio version but also listen to the live recording

Good evening Julia: Wow!! Outstanding reaction vid! I don't even know where to begin! first off, i learn a tremendous amount of very informative knowledge from u with every reaction vid that u produce!!!! As per usual. u are able to glean things from each performance that u react to that i...usually totally miss or am unaware of! U are a true wellspring of knowledge of all things that have to do with singing and music and the like!! Second,....i absolutely love your voice! ,for lack of a better description,...it sounds so lovely!! you have such wonderful speaking ability! your diction is what i would call "elite" lol!! as a matter of fact.....it adds a sort of sophisticated sexyness to u, if u don't mind me saying so (since i'm old enough to be your fathers older brother lol)!! Lastly but by no means least....i consider your a classic beauty!!! The kind of beauty that can stop traffic as far as i'm concerned!! To make things even better........you seem to be a very sweet charming full hearted and kind lady besides!! thank you so much Julia! Keep these outstanding reaction vids coming and....Take care and God Bless!!
