Yeah, his style is so busy...complex. Another along the same lines is the drummer, Nigel Olsson. His style is so noticeable when he plays...and oddly, he can't read music. He plays by ear.

@@Ocrilat Elton John studied music at the Royal Academy of Music. He can read music. You can't master musical studies without being able to read it because it's part of the studies to analyze compositions on paper etc.

@@dan7893 Right...but I didn't say Elton couldn't read music. His drummer during his golden era could not (and still can't). But that didn't stop Nigel Olsson from creating his part in every song he played on. Elton didn't direct the drummer or bassist or whatever at all when they were creating the songs. Each performer decided what they would do on their own, with zero input from Elton or anyone else. It's how they could create so many original songs, so quickly. Nigel has also written a few songs on his own too. Elton's original band (Nigel Olsson on drums/vocals, Dee Murray on bass/vocals and Davey Johnstone on guitars/vocals) don't get enough credit, imo.

So very few song writing teams are as great as Elton and Bernie, or Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf. Elton's musical talents are endless. I always knew he was great, but after seeing the movie "Rocket Man" it just increased my appreciation for both Elton and Bernie.

Wonderful reaction as always but I think it's time to pop in a little reminder of, in my opinion, the song with the best audience interaction and participation since Queen's Under Pressure at Wembely '86 and that's Sabaton at the Gothenburg concert with the song "En livstid i krig", it's absolutely amazing and since you like live songs please, please take the time to react to that one. I promise you won't be disappointed. But it has to be this one: @, it's in Swedish but there are captions in English for it. I'd love to see what you think of it, and the perspective it's shot from.

I had the pleasure of shooting/reviewing an Elton John show in 2018, and he's not as physical on stage any more, but his playing and his singing are absolutely still top form. To be able to stand less than 5 feet from him and watching him work those keys was a near-religious experience.
