Vocal Coach Reacts to SYSTEM OF A DOWN - “B.Y.O.B.” (Vocal Analysis)

Ойын-сауық

In this video, I react for the first time to System Of A Down performing “B.Y.O.B.”. I analyze their amazing performance, explain and demonstrate their vocal techniques and I'll tell you what I think made it so great. System Of A Down keep mesmerizing me with their composition, plus Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian form an astonishing vocal duo!

Awards are usually so out of touch, but in this case I think that the best (mainstream) act putting out one of their best songs that was directly speaking about war for cash as we were experiencing at the time was a perfect storm that made the most deserving actually win for once

@@jedinxf7 lol. That's right. That was the only time in the last 80 years that the military industrial complex wasn't involved. I totally forgot. All the senators and representatives who own stocks in the companies than make the weapons suddenly left office for awhile, because they had to many morals to stuff their own pockets at the expense of the soldiers whose lives they ruined for no other reason. My bad. I had Iraq confused with all the other pointless wars we've been engaged in since WWII. Thanks for reminding me.

At some point they said, that they stopped making music as SOAD because they became disillusioned that nothing changed - which hits even harder when you realize that their messages are still needed and relevant today. Great reaction and commentary. And I agree, such an inspirational band. I think their secret is just simply trying to wrap up a message within an authentic mood and always trying to serve the song even if they don't know where it is going to take them, but to keep the mood and initial intention alive until it is done. SOAD also have a RHCP level of crazy that charges everything thing they do with a bucket load of charisma. Love them. Thank you for your video.

"They're very brave, politically" is an apt statement. Serj published an essay on SOAD's website about US foreign policy and how it is failing because it is so based on oil price as the main objective and how the policies have failed to rein in extremism in the middle-east and posited "Terror is not a spontaneous human action without credence. People just dont hijack planes and commit harikari (suicide) without any weight of thought to the action. No one in the media seems to ask WHY DID THESE PEOPLE DO THIS HORRIFIC ACT OF VIOLENCE AND DESTRUCTION?" He posted this essay two days after 9/11 attacks. Their record label took it down claiming that Serj was trying to justify terrorism. At that time just asking "why" was actually brave due to the massive amount of flag waving and, understandable anger.
