Just like Linda Ronstadt, she sang every genre and excelled in them.

Her first work was as an apprentice at a beauty salon. Second, movie star in the 60s, a cinema legend. She worked with Juan Gabriel in the 70s and she became also a legend in Mexican/Latin American music. I don't think she ever worked with Camilo but they were close friends.

Juan Gabriel wrote this song for Rocio, when she lost her young song, when her son drowned in the beaches of Acapulco. That's why in the lyrics it says: "I have suffered so much from your absence, since that day I have not been happy. And even though my conscience is tranquil, I know I could have done more for you. Dark solace I am living. The same solace of your sepulchre. You are the love of which I have, the saddest memory from Acapulco"

The version of the story I know is that Juan Gabriel wrote it for his mother who passed away, but then as he knew Rocio Durcal; he, as her mentor, give it to her that song, like saying "you have to sing this song". Is a very emotional song for us as Mexicans for that context, is like we have a message in our DNA that says "you have to cry with this song" xD. But for real, many choose this song, in particular, to be played in funerals, so is mostly dedicated for a loved one who passed away.

"Amor eterno (eternal love)" is a must in every burial and day of the dead ones. Leyend says that Juan Gabriel wrote it to Rocío by a son of her who died. Juan Gabriel was allways reluctant to sing it. All mariachis know it. Pretty much every singer in Mexico (at least) has it in their albums, every style, every genre, every genre band or group, they have it. Even a classic guitar version (Julio César Oliva) is over here. A cornerstone in mexican music

Three great artists that represent three very different styles of Mexican regional music! the young in the making, the one in her prime, and an absolute legend. And the song is a beautiful and extremely emotional masterpiece made famous by none other than Chavela Vargas, the true queen of classic Mexican music.

the word for her most (past) recent vocal timbre is not 'aged', it has 'matured". Also, remember that much of what we perform is from passion, the heart, and soul, not the taught techniques, those technique are muscle memory from practicing and cracking vocals/notes in learning. People often tell me that they do NOT recognize me when I perform. I transcend to another soul and that's exactly what these great (not me) but great well-known vocalists and musicians do! If you know these people it is something outside of themselves that makes them great. I have backed (piano) up many of these greats! thanks for sharing Beth! hope to also hear you perform!

It's a song from one of the most influential and innovative bands that totally changed the aproach to rock music in Latin America! Also Coldplay made a cover for one of their songs (De música ligera) if you want to hear it. I hope you enjoy their music as much as I do!

As a violin student it helps me so much watching your analisis and videos, I have found yours the best since you go into interpretation, dynamics, tone and technique. The violin and voice are more similar than people tend to think. Most other "vocal coaches" just limit themselves to "Wows" and don't say much, making me doubt they are really vocal coaches. Thanks a lot for all the efforts you put in your videos and greetings from Mexico.

Rocío Dúrcal has 3 sons, Rocío, Antonio and Carmen. they all live. ''Amor Eterno'' It was released in 1984, Juan Gabriel wrote the song in memory of his mother who died in 1974. He was on tour in Acapulco and there he received the sad news. That is why this song is a poem for all the people who have lost a loved one, in Mexico it is customary to play it on Mother's Day in the cemeteries and also on the Day of the Dead when families visit the graves of their loved ones.
