Wow, Beth! What an incredible arrangement and interpretation of the song. I was so not expecting that. Your vocals are amazing and beautiful. Your ability to control your voice is impressive to say the least. I love your musical phrasing: pitch, tone, timber, expression etc. as well as how easily you move from your chest voice to head voice - you make it seem so easy! Clean and smooth. Very refreshing to see a vocal coach who doesn’t have a dogmatic approach to singing, recognising that what works is unique to each singer, and that singular, intuitive, natural singers like Liam are just as effective and affecting as conventionally trained ones.

Liam's a vocal genius and he doesn't even need to try to be one. My favourite thing is he wasn't tempted to do what many British singers do and sing with an American accent, they're proud of where they come from

Massive is the best way to describe Oasis. They were a shooting star that shined at the right time in the 90's and cemented them as one of the undeniable sounds of the decade. At their peak you couldn't go anywhere in the states that they weren't on a radio station or in many personal CD collections.

Yeah, But I'm an American fan, and the reality is that Oasis's popularity was akin to The Beatles in the UK, with nearly every single, and album going to number one. That was not at all their popularity level in the USA, where they are acknowledged as a successful, and well known indie-rock band. Compare Oasis with Radiohead, for example in the USA. Radiohead is more popular, was more popular, etc... American audiences clearly didn't connect with Oasis like the UK. My own personal opinion is that it has to do with class. Oasis's popularity and image, in the UK is inherently linked with their economic status, and the upbringing they rose up from. This sentiment didn't matter to Americans.
@nez9751
Жыл бұрын
Oasis were the biggest band in the uk since they started in 1995 until they ended in 2009, you can include Coldplay, U2 , arctic monkeys . Oasis were still bigger in the UK and a lot of Europe In the US they were to be honest, too obstinate, awkward and fractured to be as massive as , say Coldplay, and U2. But they were better. And they still sold millions of records there , had top 5 albums , massive gigs. They were not as big in the US as they were in the UK that’s true , but so what. Only Coldplay and U2 have been massive in the US over the last 20+ yrs or so (more in the case of U2) Even though they may offend you you can’t deny the songwriting talent, underrated guitarist, amazing frontman, great voice, charisma, swagger etc From all the the haters and the critics constantly there were the Beatles references etc at them and they just took it in their stride , these days bands and artist would do a whingeing podcast about it. They were the last and the greatest. End of .

Liam’s voice did not stay this good, although he has sounded pretty good in the past few years. He lost his voice completely around 2005, and has slowly got it back since then. He does solo music now. I would love to see you react to a more recent performance to see what you think about his voice now.
@stephanemorelli1
Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, he sings much too in the nose and has done it for a while, but actually he didnt lose his voice, he still has got it but it is just that this is a vocal technique that ensures him to place his voice in the facial mask and that he does not miss the high notes. But with a better position of the larynx, which he could work, his would get his "larger raspy voice" back. It s such a pitty that he does not work on this because he would sing just like in the first years. I'm a singer and know this problem very well, I would love to know what Beth thinks of this

Quintessential Oasis and Liam. He was a phenomenon in the early-mid 90’s. Unique voice.
There was a period maybe 2008 right up till oasis broke up in 2009 where liams voice had totally gone,It was horrendous to listen to live,Noel even said liam wasn’t singing anymore,It was more or less just shouting the songs,Glad to see he’s got his voice back now though,Saw him live at Hampden Park last year and he was absolutely brilliant,

Love the videos. I've done a lot of experimentation based on Liam's style of vocal delivery. Can confirm that it's a "live for the moment" kind of technique. Within a very few years, this style burned him to the ground, and I can feel the same thing happening if I do it. For some applications, nothing else hits the same way, but it's best used sparingly for health reasons.

I was into Oasis in the 90s.
They'd only been together as band from rehearsal 2 here 2 yrs and this is there 1st single.
They are STILL my favourite band, though that is with a touch of nostalgia (fully honest, and it really is thanks to Oasis opening my mind to their influences, it absolutely is The Beatles as the greatest band ever) They were massive in Ireland, as well as the UK. I went to see them live at Pairc Ui Caoimh in Cork in 96, with The Bootleg Beatles (in full Sgt Pepper garb) and Prodigy, promoting Fat of the Land. I saw them, again, live, at Slaine Castle, in what was rumoured, and was, their farewell tour before breaking up, with Kasabian and, again, Prodigy, opening. Absolutely great band, just phenomenal. Stole so much as they did, from Beatles and T Rex, but, they were right on the pulse of a mid to late 90's zeitgheist. They just got it, and appealed en masse to people in the UK and Ireland.

Interesting you say Liam is a tenor because most characterise him as a baritone. What are you basing that on me.
