I've been a fan of Koji Tamaki since the 80's. I will cry just by listening to his voice without even understand the songs lyrics. He is one the greatest Japan male vocalist. What a legend!!

My fave male vocalist is kazutoshi sakurai of mr.children.. but he's maybe 2nd or 3rd.. other favorite.. ryo aska of chage and aska, keisuke kuwata of sazan, yamashita tatsuro. Those are top japan music legends btw.

保育園から一緒の幼なじみが居るんだけどその子の祖父は純外国人で日本語は一切話せないが玉置浩二さんの大ファンらしくて、歌も歌えるほどなんだって話聞いてやっぱりすげえな、、玉置浩二さんの音楽って世界中の人に感動を与えてるんだな、、って改めて思った瞬間だったな。日本のレジェンドだし今の子たちもぜひ玉置浩二さんの歌を1回聞いて欲しいなと思う。

He is the songwriter. Im not musically trained but he has been my one and only fav J singer since 80s

So excited to see your reactions to Koji Tamaki-san’s intense and unforgettable voice. I lived in Tokyo for 10yrs during the 1980’s and followed his career from when he was the lead singer for Anzen Jidai… I could never get enough of his passionate vocals. Thanks for your video.

I learned about Koji Tamaki when Dimash covered his song, Ikanaide( please don't go)at the Japanese Tokyo Jazz festival 2021. I wanted to hear how the original song sounded like. I was just as surprised by his tone as you were. I find it soothing and Melody is my 2nd favourite of his. Impossible to tell, but his vocal is insanely loud. And I'm a fan of metal and rock artists. He just has one of the strongest vocal.

Koji Tamaki san is not only popular in Japan but well known in Asia too. Another of my favourite Japanese singer/ songwritter is Keisuke Kuwsta san of Southetn All Stars....please also check out Kazumasa Oda and Hideaki Tokunaga, they are really amazing !!

I saw on youtube that his grandmother was a traditional Japanese singing teacher called minyo, and he learned it as a child He and his grandmother would stand separately on the other side of the river and sing so that she could hear his voice. I think this may have increased his lung capacity

if you want to hear another unique vocalist in Japan, I recommend to check out Waggaki Band. lead singer Yuko uses Shingi style. I like Sabaku no komoriuta. there band uses traditional instruments as well so it's very entertaining.
