ABOUT:
Rebecca is a passionate Singer-Songwriter/Vocal coach/mentor /impressionist/photographer/creative junkie /self- development lover not a hater.
“I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well, maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2016. However, despite not being able to walk for a few weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and try to practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…we are all specks of dust…Also, thank you for all your support. It means a lot. I have suffered from anxiety from the past and self-confidence, (yeah hard to see now right) didn’t think I was ‘good, or worthy enough’ but I feel I have a new lease of life, don’t really care as much and want to show you guys what I have! : ) You are all awesome and without you, there would be no channel.

@@dougmcguire9809 It's not being self absorbed, you asshole. She likes to have an objective view of the vocalists, so she does not investigate them until after. Heavy Metal isn't her type of music, so she doesn't know a lot about these types of bands. I know who Justin Bieber is, but I could not tell you the name of one of his songs, or how good a singer he is. It's not like Disturbed gets the kind of advertising outside of metal channels that someone like Justin Bieber gets, so, if you're not into metal, it's very easy to know nothing about the bands.

The best metal singers have roots in classical/opera 👍🏻 Take Bruce Dickinson as an example. Come to think of it, metal in general has classical roots and influences. Great music is great music, and timeless. Not that I'm in to classical much, unless it is in its electronic form, but I guess that is musical evolution.

Hell he shocked me and that is NOT easy to do. I get shivers every single time I listen to it. And yes, his voice is INCREDIBLY sexy. When he sings the line "to the neon god they made" with such force and passion my body physically reacts. He spoke after this song about all of the people going through tough times. Those who feel suicidal, that there's always hope and someone out there to help. He mentioned how his misses one if his great friends Chester (Lead singer of Lincoln Park who sadly ended his life). I'll go a Disturbed concert any time they come to town from this point forward. So please don't judge this man by the way he looks, he's actually a VERY humble person.

We can cry as loud as we can, unfortunately no one can hear us or just few can. Things did not change since 50 years ago, or 100 years ago. We are all in this cruel world and the world is not getting better. I was born in 60's and raise in 70's and 80's and the music have always been a cry for help, love, passion and understanding.Rare people can understand what this song is all about, and keep trying to put it some special genre. But this song is not in any special genre it is just a masterpiece that time cannot harm and move. Also older generations are now old enough to understand and share the meaning of the words, newer generations simply go for the rhythm not many can understand lyrics that have deeper meaning. Original song sounds like a fine wine, this version however is more angry, realistic and sad at the same time. Where have we been and what we have changed.......noting, we just get more angry!

Saying that original is subtle i will agree, but the world have been changed since than. And it changed for the worst not for the better. Also the words in this song are strong and very meaningful for the all that are searching for the truth. Also i never said that original song is bad it was just a different era when it was written and sang,. Different times brings different sound, how days we need to shout as loud as we can so that someone can hear us, back in the sixties it was enough to almost whisper but even then no one who is in the power is listening.

"And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence "Fools, " said I, "You do not know Silence, like a cancer, grows Hear my words that I might teach you Take my arms that I might reach you" But my words, like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells, of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls" And whispered in the sounds of silence" Written in the early 60's. But does this song not perfectly describe the world we've built since then? A world in which no one talks to anyone, a world in which people barely know even their closest neighbours, a world in which every pair of eyes is looking down and engaged only with one electronic device or another. A world in which social media dominates and which people are talking without speaking, listening without hearing. We think we're free, we're not, we're all imprisoned within our own walls of silence! I don't suppose for a minute that Paul Simon was writing it as a commentary on anything he saw coming, but it certainly has become a very apt metaphor.

A must listen. Stellar vocals from Brann (the drummer) of all people, and a composition and tone that is somehow both distinctly Mastodon AND Zeppelin. Amazing, really.

I absolutely loved the resonance of his voice, which was grounding, in all that space of lonely silence setting. He opened with a deep voice, carried it monotonously, as this lonely silence is monotonous, and downs you. But then! He broke open, at the word "flash", -just like a flash of light breaks darkness, his vocal opened, and made SPACE. So masterful! Singing, "You do not know" carried so much pleading outcry, and something of a master teaching, as he held the tone strongly, assertively. Progressively, he broke out from the darkness by switching to a higher voice, like wings, like an observer out of body, high above, observing himself below - so beautiful! Unreal! Then came his raspy voice, switching to metal voice, which expressed the ANGER, the DEFIANCE, and the UPRISING, THE FIGHT against the lonely silence. it was masterful! And he waved his fist, the determination, the conviction, expressing a STANDOFF, energy, elan! -The ANGRY FIGHT, and the metal voice was the best to express this with. - He ended the song with slumping downward again, folding back into the darkness, with his last word sung "silence", softly, defeated, but his vibrato expressed the silence reverberating. I was speechless. And found myself holding a fist.

Disturbed did their own interpretation of it which makes it beautiful in it own way that's different than simon and garfunkel's original. The original will always be legendary but this is by far the only cover of this song that I haven't gotten sick of or hated outright.

My son tried to get me to listen to this for WEEKS before I finally relented and listened. It's better than the original. The original was happy and up-beat. Disturbed turned it into a dirge, which is what it should have been in the first place.

this song got nominated for Grammy but David Bowie won it posthumously for the last song he ever recorded RIP David Bowie .. I truly believe that this song will go down in history as the best version of the song ... the studio version is more of a cleaner less raw cover but still able to knock our socks off so to speak ... I will see you next time

Well that fucking sucks. Got a Grammy yanked from him because of a dead guy. I don't care if the dead guy was a legend or whatever they think he was. He's dead. Let's try honoring musical talent being done now by live people, not posthumously to people who aren't even around to get it. Jeez.
