There was a great interview with Krutoy, Dimash and his Dad present....I think before his Arnau concert performance in Russia.....and Krutoy said in response to a reporter asking about more pop radio songs, Dimash doesn't need to sing standard formula pop songs (radio) with a 5 note range and repeating the same words, he sings songs that are ....something he said about having depth and great meaning.....Krutoy went on to point out that without being on the radio Dimash is selling out 20K arenas all over the world and people are flying in from all over the world to see his concerts......so DQ does his pop songs, but I don't think he concerns himself with radio play.....he does it to express his huge stylistic range and to satisfy his internal creative impulses and drives, his pop foray's are not to be on radio - he recognizes in his ever humble way that he doesn't need the radio path to reach his Dears :) :) :). Also in another interview Dimash said "I don't have a producer or traditional mgr" (his family and he, primarily himself - determines everything......DQ went on to say "because I can not wear clothes or sing a certain song if I'm told to (to be popular)"....it has to come from a deeper place :) THAT LAST NOTE.....THE GREATEST SOUND, THE GREATEST MOST EXCITING 20 SEC HELD NOTE IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC!

My thoughts too, he does not need to do 'pop' to fill out stadiums world wide.He is not played on radio here in Australia, ( although he could be on the more classical shows)., and if he never tours here (which I hope he does)..I would travel to see him in concert...'Pop'..is not , and does not have to be, the core of success in the West....it has been proven by the likes of many, such as Pavarotti, Bocelli, Josh Groban etc etc, who have performed to full stadiums in the West...and around the world..

@@johnnybarricelli5703 You guys are right! This was the comment I left on Wolf Rock's reaction video for Ave Maria: I believe that Dimash is able to totally connect to Source energy and in doing so he is able to suspend conscious thinking and to channel that energy outwardly toward the listener. I believe also that this is why people react to him so deeply even though they may not understand a word he is singing. Other A-List performers touch the heart, but because of this advanced ability Dimash can touch our souls. However, to truly "get" Dimash one has to be able to receive such high frequency energy - and all Dears have this ability. This was magnificent!!!!! Bravo to Dimash and Igor! What a heavenly pair they are!!! #myopinion

Kobyz- "Stranger" Music - Igor Krutoy Lyrics - Sharon Vaughn Arranger - Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) The idea to add kobyz to the new song came to Dimash after he first heard the melody "Stranger". He decided that the folk instrument would fit perfectly into the song, giving it an exciting sound. The performer of the kobyz part is Olzhas Kurmanbek....This is what the Maestro Krutoy said: "It was Dimash's talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Frankly, I don't see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way."

He just attended an awards show this weekend and he's shown going through the back of the arena, through the journalists etc., and he is the calmest, quietest, most unassuming performer, never, in any way, did he draw attention to himself in fact, just the opposite - he was frequently seen with his arm around his sister, bringing her into photos he was asked for and if you didn't know who he was, you'd wonder why he was being interviewed - an amazing human being. (The last note of that song was .21seconds, sung with power) His politeness, manners, integrity and respect are his trademark as much as his voice - do not want to see him spoiled by the 'west'

As always, a very enjoyable reaction and analysis. Dimash premiered his newest song "Stranger" on August 19, 2021, during his performance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano and introduced Olzhas Qurmanbeck on the kobyz. It is an amazing performance, one of, if not the best to date, in my humble opinion. Igor Krutoy composed the music, American poetess Sharon Vaughn wrote the lyrics, and Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan) did the arrangement. Igor Krutoy is quoted as saying that “it was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way.” When Dimash first listened to the melody of "Stranger" he felt that the addition of a kobyz to the musical arrangement would give the song a unique, yet very fitting sound. Thus, the kobyz made its debut at the New Wave Hall at the Sochi Olympic Park, and what a great choice indeed. It is a beautiful sounding instrument that seems to underscore the song’s deep meaning. This wasn’t the first time that Dimash has featured Olzhas Qurmanbeck playing the kobyz. You can also enjoy him in a few of Dimash’s other performances such as Qairan Elim (official music video) and Samaltau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival). The Kobyz is a very old, traditional, and sacred instrument in Kazakhstan. The kobyz or kyl kobyz is the most ancient bowed instrument on earth, widespread among the Turks, Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. It became the basis for most of today’s bowed instruments around the world, including European instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and contrabass. The Kyrgyz variant is called kyl-kayak. The instrument is carved from a single piece of wood (typically apricot) or juniper (arsha), maple, pine tree, or birch. The instrument consists of three parts: head (bas), middle (base is keude), and lower part (ayak) and usually measures 60-70 cm. It has two strings made from horsetail hair; one to provide melody and the other resonance. The bow is shaped like an archer’s bow, and its string is tied to both ends of the bent branch and affixed with strong threads of camel wool. The New Wave Music competition started in 2002, and for nearly two decades now has been one of the most iconic music events in Russia and other parts of the world. It is an international contest for young performers of popular music. It was founded by Russian composer, performer, and music producer Igor Krutoy (seen here playing the piano) and Latvian pianist and composer Raimonds Pauls. Russian superstar Alla Pugacheva eventually joined as one of the show’s organizers. The contest usually lasts for six days: 3 contest days, 2 special event days, and the final day when the contest's results are announced and a final concert is performed. The television audience of the New Wave music competition numbers more than 200 million people. In 2018, Dimash debuted as a guest performer, performing his now legendary rendition of “Sinful Passion”. This year (2021) Dimash took part as a guest performer, as well as a judge. In this year’s finale, 11 participants from 9 countries will compete for the grand prize.

Best vocalist in the world, hands down. It's more than that, because of the depth of his artistic sensibilitry and absolute comand as a performer. It's as if you have the best vocalist of every style and tecitura, the best performer and a mystical messenger from angelic dymensions and melted them all into a human. Art doesn't see a soul like this very often. This is not only an extraordinary musical experience, it points to the human potential and our transcendental nature. We all have it in us, so few figure out how to manifest it, and have the courage and insane discipline to polish the medium for its expression. This mans love for his craft should be on the dictionaries as an example of the word love.

You are so right about the dichotomy. Some Dears want him to do more mainstream music to gain popularity especially in the US, some (like me) are afraid he might in that case lose (some of) his uniqueness. It looks though as his course is towards west, and we wish him smooth sailing. I at least am happy when he is happy. I wish, Tara, that you will one day get the interview with him. 💕🇫🇮
