Charice was born year 1992. She started to get popular around year 2008. She had about 5 years of prime in her short career. Cut short because she came out as a lesbian around 2013. Anyways. She was a nobody at her hometown. Grew up poor. No formal training during her younger years. All she had was her talent. I can go on and on and on but mention an artist’s name born around the early 90’s who you think is better than Charice on the stage. Oh she had her contemporaries back then. But based on the sheer talent I guess its hard to beat her. And by the way, i said best vocalist not most popular. Peace Out

@ Mike C She had a NET worth of around $16M USD just before she came out as a lesbian. That is probably good enough money to retire with around year 2013. Hey everyone has their own take on this. If you don’t like her that’s ok. Nobody will force you to do so.

Sorry that was a bit rough of what I said to you She has a book titled “I am Jake” That is her name now. Jake Zyrus. I have the book. That is where I got the figure from. I know she would have made millions more had she stayed on track. Everything about her life as Charice is in that book. It is a good read.

    1. Jake has been singing since he was little, yes, to survive. 2. He joined a massive singing contest in the Philippines when he was about 9. He never bagged 1st place, even though it was obvious that he was on a league of his own. Why? Because he was not "pretty" enough, and that he looked "too Filipino". Shallow bastards, I know. 3. When he was about 15, a Swedish music publisher asked him to do a demo, and recorded a few songs upon seeing some of his videos online. 4. Korea followed suit, and asked her to sing in a popular TV show, Star King. 5. That same year, Ellen's team got wind of Jake and invited him to her show. It was when Jake appeared on Ellen that he blew up internationally. Only after that, did the Philippines started to pay more attention to him.

@@HotBaconStrips maybe they're just proud of her accomplishments and like to believe her talent comes from her Pinoy side. They know she's American by birth. Imagine being a Filipina in the US or abroad. People routinely ask you if you were a mail order bride, or a military wife. Or, they ask if you have a shoe fetish like Imelda Marco's. And, occasionally you'll be asked if you ate dog. All 3 negative images. But, very commonly asked of them. Then, for several years Manny Pacquiao is atop the boxing world. Around the same time Charice Pempengco goes from KZread to Ellen to Oprah to Hollywood & the world stage. First Asian to go Top Ten on Billboard worldwide. Now suddenly people ask you about them instead of negative stereotypes. Of course you're going to point out other Pinoy talents, (Morissette, Nonito Donaire, etc) to show they aren't flukes and that Filipinos have always been talented. Then you'll point out Angelica, Nicole Scherzinger, Bruno Mars, Enrique Iglesias, Kirk Hammett from Metallica, actor Bautista, Cubs shortstop Addison Russell, ect, etc, etc, are all of mixed Filipino descent. Because you want people to see see you in a more positive light, than most non Filipinos historically have. KZread and reactors have helped many people discover some of these talented Filipinos & "Happas". Let them enjoy their moment. And, try to understand why they may be so quick to tell you: "You know ___ is part Filipino, right?" You'd rather be asked: "Why are all Filipinos such good singers?" than some of the negative questions I pointed out earlier.

Congratulations Tara! Angelica Hale is very talented and you have enhanced her vocals. She sounds very mature and polished for her age. I cannot wait when she and the TNT Boys do a concert together. The TNT Boys are holding their first major solo concert on November 30 and most of the tickets are sold out! It will be held in the Big Dome. And will release their Christmas Album soon.

In young age around 12 or something ( she was singing since her 4 ) she was invited i think in Oprah Winfrey show in 2014 . She did her debut with "i have nothing" W.Houston. Later on she was invited once more in Oprah's show this time to get surprised by the hostess which is a close friend with Celine Dion which happened to be Charice idol . So Oprah made it happen , Charice dream was materializing before her eyes , she met Celine and they did a duet together "because you love me" . David Foster must met Charice after that and since then the rest is history !!!! Worth mentioning that Charice sang all of the most demanding songs from the greatest performers to date . Mariah Carey , Celine Dion , Whitney Houston . What went so terribly wrong and this star , this diva disappeared exactly as she appeared i still don't know for sure , but i am sure , i will never forget her !!!! Thank you for reacting to her !!!

Thanks for a nice reaction, its one of my favorite video of Charice, and I cant believe I,d been watching this video for almost 9 years now OMG! Its really crazy but I never get enough of Charice. It makes me sad to think that she throw away all the fame and fortune she's enjoying just like that, and thats because she wanted to be happy to live as Jake. I respect Charice for the life that she chooses. Love you Charice, no matter how ridiculous and hopeless I can be, but I still hope to see you in long hair. I know its impossible, so I'll just be content watching your decade old videos..God bless Charice.

There's sooo much to unpack here! In my opinion (just mine) this is (next to Celines cover of this song) the greatest performance of this song ever! David hand picked Charice to cover this so this is no joke, as this is Davids arrangement of Eric Carmens song. Everything is right with this vocally and emotionlly Good Lord from above. Feels. 😍(I write this everytime I see this video) I saw this when it aired originally on PBS. I stood up in my living room and clapped! Brilliant!
